Published since 1974, Politikon is the official journal of the South African Association of Political Studies. Politikon focuses primarily on South African politics, but not exclusively so. Over the years the journal has published articles by some of the world's leading political scientists, including Arend Lijphart, Samuel Huntington, and Philippe Schmitter. It has also featured important contributions from South Africa's leading political philosophers, political scientists and international relations experts. It has proved an influential journal, particularly in debates over the merits of South Africa's constitutional reforms (in 1983 and 1994). In the last few years special issues have focused on women and politics in South Africa, and the South African election of 1999. Recent articles have looked at the negotiated transition from apartheid to democracy, aspects of identity politics in post-apartheid South Africa and issues of democratic consolidation. South African Review of Sociology (SARS) publishes leading scholarship relevant to the South African sociological community and beyond, including original research articles, review papers, briefings and debates. Relevance is not defined in a narrow way and contributions on subjects of comparative or theoretical interest are welcomed. Moreover, the journal does not define 'sociological' restrictively, but as the study of society in the broader sense. Prospective guest editors may direct proposals for special issues to the editors.

SARS is the official journal of the South African Sociological Association (SASA), previously published as the South African Journal of Sociology and subsequently as Society in Transition. The journal has a vision to increase the impact and reach of South African sociology under the co-publishing arrangements with Routledge / Taylor & Francis and UNISA Press. It captures the best of sociological scholarship and is committed to incorporating the work of first-time and established authors.

Studies in Family Planning is a peer-reviewed, international journal publishing public health, social science, and biomedical research on sexual and reproductive health, fertility, and family planning, with a primary focus on developing countries. Each issue contains original research articles, reports, commentaries, data papers, and book reviews. Studies in Family Planning is published quarterly.

The journal has a two-tiered review process. Preliminary review is the initial screening that each manuscript undergoes to assess appropriateness of topic and treatment, its accessibility and interest to our readership, and its contribution to the journal's overall diversity and balance. The paper is read by members of the Editorial Committee and discussed at a monthly meeting. If a paper does not pass preliminary review, the author receives early notification—though without detailed comments—and is able to submit it to another journal without undue loss of time. Papers that pass preliminary review are sent out to two or more referees. Authors of articles sent out for peer review can expect written comments and a decision about their paper approximately three months after submission. Submissions should be not under consideration elsewhere when submitting to Studies.

Since 2009, Transnational Corporations Review (TNCR) has served as one of the few outlets in international business and economics that encourages and publishes cooperative efforts among academics, policymakers and industry practitioners. Published quarterly, TNCR is an international journal that places a particular emphasis on the presence and interactions of emerging markets within the global economy, while providing a unique balance of both macro and micro issues.

Information networking is an enabling technology with the potential to integrate and transform information provision, communication and learning. The New Review of Information Networking, published biannually, provides an expert source on the needs and behaviour of the network user; the role of networks in teaching, learning, research and scholarly communication; the implications of networks for library and information services; the development of campus and other information strategies; the role of information publishers on the networks; policies for funding and charging for network and information services; and standards and protocols for network applications. Peace Review is a quarterly, multidisciplinary, transnational journal of research and analysis, focusing on the current issues and controversies that underlie the promotion of a more peaceful world. Social progress requires, among other things, sustained intellectual work, which should be pragmatic as well as analytical. The results of that work should be ingrained into everyday culture and political discourse. We define peace research very broadly to include peace, human rights, development, ecology, culture and related issues.
