Electronic Commerce Research and Applications aims to create and disseminate enduring knowledge for the fast-changing e-commerce environment. A major dilemma in e-commerce research is how to achieve a balance between the currency and the life span of knowledge.Electronic Commerce Research and Applications will contribute to the establishment of a research community to create the knowledge, technology, theory, and applications for the development of electronic commerce. This is targeted at the intersection of technological potential and business aims.E-commerce is a multi-disciplinary area, which should be developed in co-operation with existing fields such as Information Systems and Technology; Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain Management; Business Strategy and Management; Public Policy; Computer Science and Telecommunications; and Legal Studies. We will solicit papers on current technologies from these areas, as well as publish papers on completely new topics. Manuelle Medizin richtet sich an Orthopäden/Unfallchirurgen, Allgemeinmediziner, Rheumatologen, Internisten und Traumatologen sowie an Krankengymnasten und Physiotherapeuten in Klinik und Praxis. Caribbean Quarterly (CQ) is one of the oldest periodicals in the English-speaking Caribbean. Regarded as the flagship publication of the University of the West Indies (UWI), it was launched by the then Department of Extra Mural Studies, UWI, in 1949, to be a platform from which research findings and general knowledge could be effectively disseminated within the campus and non-campus territories. Professor Rex Nettleford served as editor of CQ for forty years, until his death in February 2010. CQ is now produced under the umbrella of the Vice Chancellery.

CQ concerns itself with all aspects of Caribbean culture, in all its interdisciplinary ramifications. It is an outlet for the publication of results of research into, considered views on, and creative expressions of matters Caribbean. CQ publishes scholarly articles, personal and critical essays, public lectures, poetry, short fiction and book reviews – a lively diversity of types of writing reflecting the diversity of Caribbean culture. We invite original (previously unpublished) submissions on topics which are of general interest and relevance to the Caribbean. All scholarly articles are peer-reviewed: we insist on scholarly rigour, but we also encourage accessibility and discourage excessive use of academic jargon. Concurrency is seen in an increasing number of computing and communication systems. We have tens of millions of clients on the World Wide Web and many thousands of powerful nodes in high-end massively parallel machines (MPP). One can project continued rapid progress within ten years, Exaop performance from the Web and Petaflop capabilities in closely coupled parallel machines. This leads to a confusing rich choice of architectures with distributed memory PC clusters or Web-based computers and shared memory MPPs. These are enabled and coupled with corresponding boosts in wide-area network performance and deployment with a blurring and convergence of computing and communication. This hardware juggernaut is coupled to new languages and programming paradigms, such as Java and VRML for the Web and multithreading HPF and MPI for parallel systems. The combination of concurrent digital and optical technology is expected to create a Global Information Infrastructure (GII) that will enable new applications, and open up a new set of communication and computer software and architecture challenges. We need portable and scalable (portable to the future and to hybrid heterogeneous world-wide systems) solutions. This technology is being driven by and used in a wide range of academic, research, and commercial application areas. This use is producing a substantial amount of practical experience in those problems that are enabled or enhanced by this amazing infrastructure. There are also new computational methods, such as mobile agents, cellular automata and massively parallel neural networks, which are particularly suited to concurrent execution. There is a rapid growth in both scientific (grand challenges) and information (national challenge) applications that drive both the functionality and high performance of the base technologies. These will impact academia, business, the homes and education. New applications are also being opened up by advances in human-computer interfaces with full immersive environments becoming available, and tools to support those with disabilities broadening the reach of the computer and communication revolution. The Puerto Rico Health Sciences Journal (PRHSJ) is the scientific journal of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. It was founded in 1982 as a vehicle for the publication of reports on scientific research conducted in-campus, Puerto Rico and abroad. All published work is original and peer-reviewed.
