Launched in June, 2013, The Lancet Global Health is a new open access, online title from The Lancet. This exciting new journal is dedicated to publishing high-quality original research, commentary, correspondence, and blogs on the following subjects as they pertain to low- and middle-income countries: reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health; adolescent health; infectious diseases, including neglected tropical diseases; non-communicable diseases; mental health; the global health workforce; health systems; health policy; and public health. The Visual Computer is dedicated to reporting on the state-of-the-art of research in the field of graphics, vision, imaging, and virtual reality. It features practical results, applications, and contributions that describe advances in such areas as: - Geometric modeling - Computer vision - Visualization - Computer animation - Dynamic modeling - Motion capture and synthesis - Virtual reality - Rendering models - Texturing - Image-based rendering - Non-photorealistic rendering. The AAPS Journal is an online-only journal publishing peer-reviewed scholarly reviews, themed issues and research articles within the entire scope of the pharmaceutical sciences encompassed by the AAPS membership. The Journal particularly aims to foster the dissemination of scientific information presented at AAPS-sponsored meetings, workshops and symposia, through the publication of invited reviews in themed issues. Additionally, guest editors are invited to organize special themed issues on scientific subjects of current interest. Viruses (ISSN 1999-4915) is an open access journal which provides an advanced forum for studies of viruses. It publishes reviews, regular research papers, communications, and short notes. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. We also encourage the publication of timely reviews and commentaries on topics of interest to the virology community. Educational Technology Research and Development is the only scholarly journal in the field focusing entirely on research and development in educational technology.

The Research Section assigns highest priority in reviewing manuscripts to rigorous original quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods studies on topics relating to applications of technology or instructional design in educational settings.  Such contexts include K-12, higher education, and adult learning (e.g., in corporate training settings).  Analytical papers that evaluate important research issues related to educational technology research and reviews of the literature on similar topics are also published. This section features well documented articles on the practical aspects of research as well as applied theory in educational practice and provides a comprehensive source of current research information in instructional technology.

The Development Section publishes research on planning, implementation, evaluation and management of a variety of instructional technologies and learning environments. Empirically-based formative evaluations and theoretically-based instructional design research papers are welcome, as are papers that report outcomes of innovative approaches in applying technology to instructional development. Papers for the Development section may involve a variety of research methods and should focus on one or more aspects of the instructional development process; when relevant and possible, papers should discuss the implications of instructional design decisions and provide evidence linking outcomes to those decisions.

The Cultural and Regional Perspectives Section (formerly International Review) welcomes innovative research about how technologies are being used to enhance learning, instruction, and performance specific to a culture or region. Educational technology studies submitted to this section should be, situated in cultural contexts that critically examine issues and ideologies prevalent in the culture or region or by individuals or groups in the culture or region. Theoretical perspectives can be broadly based and inclusive of research, such as critical race theory, cultural-historical activity theory, and cultural models. Papers published in this section include quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods articles and reviews drawing on relevant theories, empirical evidence, and critical analyses of the findings, implications, and conclusions within a cultural context.

The first independent journal of its kind in the world, New Writing publishes both critical and creative work - offering a forum for debate, as well as an avenue for the publication of the best stories, poems, works of creative non-fiction or works for the stage or for the screen, in all its contemporary varieties. New Writing investigates the nature of Creative Writing practice and practice-led research in Creative Writing. It publishes key articles about Creative Writing, specifically relating to Creative Writing activities in universities and colleges, articles on the processes of creative writers, and about the "footprints" left by Creative Writing practice throughout history, and in various cultures. Health Policy OPEN complements Health Policy. It shares Health Policy's objective to "be a vehicle for the exploration and discussion of health policy and health system issues and is aimed in particular at enhancing communication between health policy and system researchers, legislators, decision-makers and professional concerned with developing, implementing, and analysing health policy, health systems and health care reforms."

Health Policy OPEN (HPO) does not concentrate "on high income countries outside the USA." Instead, HPO offers a truly global perspective. "Global" refers both to geography, i.e., the whole world from low- to high-income countries, from the Americas via Europe and Africa and Asia, and universally important topics such as accessibility, coverage, quality, performance, efficiency, cost-effectiveness and sustainability of health systems.

Health Policy OPEN is based on the observation that "health care policies and reforms are made at an ever-increasing pace in countries around the world—and policy-makers are increasingly looking to other countries for solutions to their own problems." It is thus also "committed to support this international dialogue to ensure that policies are not just copied but used and adapted based on the specific problems and objectives as well as the respective context." Particular emphasis will be devoted to issues of global health policy¹ and the development of Sustainable Development Goals 3 (SDG 3) and Universal Health Coverage.

Besides featuring articles on specific health system, policy and reform issues, it will contribute to providing "basic" information in the field, thus helping establish a common understanding of the field. This will be done by publishing series, e.g., on health systems around the world or "key concepts visualized and explained but also the opportunity to publish study protocols to rigorously study health system features and their impact.

The editorial team will be comprised of editors working on Health Policy and new associate editors representing a global scope.

Terrorism as a tactic has been used by political and ideological groups for thousands of years.
