Communication Research Reports publishes brief empirical articles (10 pages or less, excluding tables and references) on a variety of topics pertaining to human communication. Studies in the general areas of interpersonal, intercultural, life-span, nonverbal, small group, organizational, instructional, health, persuasive, mass, political, and computer-mediated communication are appropriate. Although the main portion of the paper should be devoted to a thorough reporting and interpretation of results, a concise but cogent theoretical rationale and literature review must also be included. At the Editor's discretion, some manuscripts may be designated as Brief Reports once they have undergone the initial review process. Brief Reports should be no longer than three pages (excluding tables and references). Their purpose is to highlight a specific finding and its relevance to the literature. All sections traditionally included in a paper should be present, but they must be very brief and to the point. Any extraneous information must be eliminated. Brief Reports SHOULD NOT BE SUBMITTED to CRR; rather, they will be employed at the Editor's discretion. Also at the discretion of the Editor will be one manuscript per issue designated as a Spotlight on Method/Analysis piece. These articles will be solicited by the Editor and will be 5-8 pages in length (excluding tables and references) highlighting topics that will range from novel methodological approaches and/or statistical techniques to common misconceptions/issues of contemporary controversy related to method/analysis. Each issue of CRR will contain one such manuscript that will be solicited and/or determined by the Editor.Communication Research Reports is philosophically committed to publishing the highest quality brief empirical articles derived from a variety of research areas within the discipline. Although Communication Research Reports is supported by ECA, a regional communication association, it has a national and international readership and is considered by many leaders in the field to be the best source for short research reports on communication. The African Journal of Cancer (AJC) has been created to support and accompany the various actions that aim at promoting the battle against cancer on the African continent. Tumoral pathology is a burning issue in developed as well as developing countries. Epidemiological statistics indicate that 70% of new cancer cases would be recorded in developing countries in a very short term. The African Journal of Cancer is a non-biased and independent publication that opens itself to international news on the study of cancer; on, epidemiology; on bio-technological innovations; on environmental, social and human sciences; so as to provide its readers with diversified information on cancer. The journal is the 'trading floor' that aims at setting up a North-South cooperation linkage and to facilitate collaboration between players based in the South so as to, together, face the numerous challenges of cancer.The journal is accredited by the CAMES (African and Malagasy Council for higher education).

Marriage & Family Review publishes a mix of open submission articles as well as thematic issues that bring together the most current research, practice, advances in theory development, and applications of knowledge on a particular topic in the field. Marriage & Family Review has historically welcomed open submissions from numerous international scholars and will continue to do so. The journal will continue to welcome manuscripts that concern family strengths and premarital relationship development. Another continued emphasis will be research-based manuscripts concerning controversial issues. Marriage & Family Review is also interested in manuscripts that present evidence for the reliability and validity of new measurement instruments in family studies or review such evidence for older measures. Also of interest would be scholarly manuscripts that discuss newer, high risk methodologies that may be applicable to family theory testing and data analysis. A new aim of Marriage & Family Review will be the publication of reviews of the literature of an intermediate level. For example, Journal of Marriage and Family regularly publishes "Decade in Review" articles that summarize the previous decade's research in a major area of research (e.g., marital interaction). Marriage & Family Review wishes to complement such reviews by focusing on reviews that concern the previous five to twenty years of research in a more concentrated area of study (e.g., marital interaction among military couples). At least one issue a year will be dedicated to such reviews. Doctoral candidates in particular may wish to consider Marriage & Family Review as a professional outlet for their literature review work. A new focus for Marriage & Family Review also will be brief commentaries on previously published articles, with priority given to articles previously published in Marriage & Family Review, then articles published in other major family journals that do not accept such commentaries or feedback, and lastly, commentaries that, although being theoretically and methodologically sound, have been rejected by major family journals. Rebuttals to any such comments will also be welcomed enthusiastically. Family scholars are invited to suggest particular thematic special issues for the journal's consideration, including guest editors for those special issues. Scholars who would like to review submissions to Marriage & Family Review are invited to submit their names, contact information, areas of interest and expertise, and current vitae to the Editor for consideration for both regular and special issues. Purpose and Intent of the JournalEvaluation and Program Planning is based on the principle that the techniques and methods of evaluation and planning transcend the boundaries of specific fields and that relevant contributions to these areas come from people representing many different positions, intellectual traditions, and interests. In order to further the development of evaluation and planning, we publish articles from the private and public sectors in a wide range of areas: organizational development and behavior, training, planning, human resource development, health and mental, social services, mental retardation, corrections, substance abuse, and education. The primary goals of the journal are to assist evaluators and planners to improve the practice of their professions, to develop their skills and to improve their knowledge base.Types of Articles PublishedWe publish articles, "special issues" (usually a section of an issue), and book reviews. Articles are of two types: 1) reports on specific evaluation or planning efforts, and 2) dicussions of issues relevant to the conduct of evaluation and planning.Reports on individual evaluations should include presentation of the evaluation setting, design, analysis and results. Because of our focus and philosophy, however, we also want a specific section devoted to "lessons learned". This section should contain advice to other evaluators about how you would have acted differently if you could do it all over again. The advice may involve methodology, how the evaluation was implemented or conducted, evaluation utilization tactics, or any other wisdom that you think could benefit your colleagues. More general articles should provide information relevant to the evaluator/planner's work. This might include theories in evaluation, literature reviews, critiques of instruments, or discussions of fiscal, legislative, legal or ethical issues affecting evaluation or planning.Special issues are groups of articles which cover a particular topic in depth. They are organized by "special issue editors" who are willing to conceptualize the topic, find contributors, set up a quality control process, and deliver the material. Often several editors share responsibility for these tasks. Suggestions for special issues are encouraged.Book reviews cover any area of social science or public policy which may interest evaluators and planners. As with special issues, suggestions for books and book reviewers are encouraged.

Matrix Biology publishes Regular Research Papers, Brief Reports, Mini Reviews, Landmark Essays, Full Length Reviews and Announcements.Regular Research PapersMatrix Biology will review for publication studies utilizing most scientific technologies including molecular biology, cell biology, immunochemistry, structural biology, computational biology, theoretical biology, and macromolecular chemistry where the subject is extra cellular matrix or is substantially related to matrix and its biological role. The journal will publish articles that are scientifically rigorous, complete within some logical framework, address molecular or cellular mechanisms, and present results that are timely and above average significance. Methods without application to a significant project and data on a new species or system similar to results already in the literature will not be accepted as a regular paper but may be suitable as a Short Note.Brief ReportsMatrix Biology will also review for publication brief reports that meet the same standards of quality and field of interest as regular papers but have a narrower scope and more focused interest. Examples are: DNA sequence from a new species of special interest where the sequence from another species is in the literature; a probe, assay or method that is particularly novel and useful; a new mutation that broadens understanding in a genetic disease where other mutations are known; and brief results of more than usual interest that will be followed by a more detailed study.Mini ReviewsThe aims of the reviews are to: (a) summarize the general concepts in the field; (b) provide a brief summary of the new information in the field; and (c) define unresolved questions and disagreements about currently available data. The mini-reviews will be of two different types, single mini-reviews that will summarize some new and important discovery in the field, and cluster mini-reviews on a topic that has been under investigation for some time. To ensure that the mini-reviews reflect a consensus to the scientists in the field, they will be published in one or two issues as series of articles consisting of (a) an Introductory Review by a Special Editor selected for the series; (b) two or more specialized reviews from two or more additional experts in the field and (c) Letters-to-the-Editor by additional experts in the field who will be invited to comment or volunteer to comment on specific issues raised in the reviews.Landmark EssaysFull Length ReviewsThese are invited comprehensive summaries and analyses of topics that have been under investigation for some time.AnnouncementsAnnouncements of national or international meetings may be published in Matrix Biology.

Nano Communication Networks Journal is an international, archival and multi-disciplinary journal providing a publication vehicle for complete coverage of all topics of interest to those involved in all aspects of nano-scale networking and communications. Theatre, Dance and Performance Training (TDPT) is a twice-yearly, peer-reviewed journal which acts as a research forum for practitioners, academics, creative artists and pedagogues interested in training in all its complexity and across cultures. This exciting new Journal will focus on social entrepreneurship and social innovation across a range of sectors and cultural settings. There will be three key criteria behind the Journal. Firstly, sociality: by which is meant strategic primacy being given to a clearly defined social purpose or public benefit that can be identified by organisational type (eg charity, co-operative), output (a normatively defined public benefit), or sector (eg health, education). This includes a range of public benefit externalities including positive environmental and sustainability impacts.Secondly, innovation: by which is meant conventional notions of entrepreneurial bricolage or Schumpeterian disruptive, systematic change supplied to social or economic systems. To date, much of social entrepreneurship scholarship has emerged from business schools and has - as a consequence - tended to focus on organisational, strategic, and financial issues. The perspective has largely been to use business models to explore social innovation, and particularly, social enterprise (social entrepreneurship that moves towards self-funding). The approach has largely been 'what can social entrepreneurship learn from business perspectives'. This is an important part of the scholarly picture, but the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship will have a far broader remit. The vision for the Journal is as a high quality, multi-disciplinary publication that embraces and encourages work on social entrepreneurship from a range of scholarly perspectives beyond - but including - business and management and which accepts that social entrepreneurship has much to offer in its own right to business, and the third and public sectors. Primary amongst these disciplines will be: social policy and political science; anthropology; sociology; not-for-profit management; finance; organizational theory; strategy; social geography; (development) economics; ethics and moral philosophy; and social psychology. However, the Journal will be open to work in any scholarly tradition with the twin caveats that the work is squarely focused on social entrepreneurship, as defined above, and that it is high quality. Thirdly, market-orientation: by which is meant, not only conventional economic market strategies (as in the case of social enterprises), but a wider sense of placing social entrepreneurship in a broader competitive landscape of funding, outputs, accountability and legitimacy, all focused on a relentless effort to improve performance and increase social impact. The Journal will be rigorously international in scope both in terms of its unit of analysis and its scholarly contributors. Social entrepreneurship is a truly global phenomenon and the Journal will recognise its culturally different manifestations across countries as well as explore key contrasts. Finally, the Journal will be unprescriptive with respect to methodology, accepting qualitative and quantitative work equally on merit. However, in order to build the academic credibility of social entrepreneurship going forward, there is currently a need to move away from both descriptive case studies and individual 'hero' accounts of social entrepreneurs, so the Journal will actively look to support both more theory-inflected work and broader empirical studies. This definition of social entrepreneurship includes both for and not-for-profit organisations, as well as public sector bodies, though it excludes all organisations whose primary purpose is profit-maximisation, irrespective of whether they also aim to do social good (this falls under quite the seperate heading of Corporate Social Responsibility which will not feature in the journal). Examples of Bottom of the Pyramid innovation will be considered for publication where the focal organisation aims first at social or environmental value creation by using a for-profit model. The Journal of Epidemiology and Global Health (JEGH) plans to impact global epidemiology and international health with peer-reviewed articles focused on innovative scholarship and strategies to advance global health policy. The journal will take special interest in publishing rigorous assessments of policies where these have been implemented based on epidemiological and public health research. At Journal of Epidemiology and Global Health we believe epidemiology and public health are closely intertwined, both scientifically, and from a health policy vantage: advances in one area exert positive consequences on the other.The journal benefits from a diverse, multidisciplinary, experienced and unusually international editorial board that will facilitate the publication of articles and perspectives reflecting a global view of public health medicine and epidemiology. We also seek to emphasize our focus on supporting the academic, clinical and practical needs of public health practitioners in the field.The journal seeks to improve regional and global health by informing efforts to reduce the risk of communicable and non-communicable diseases. We are particularly interested in the links between evolving epidemiologic advances and the implementation of health policy initiatives, eventually in publishing efficacy assessments, including the assessment of unintended consequences.As global health medicine meets unprecedented problems - the H1N1 pandemic being a recent example - imaginative approaches will be needed to influence health policy, foreign policy and even immigration policy. This international, peer-reviewed journal aims to advance knowledge in the growing and strongly interdisciplinary area of Interaction Studies in biological and artificial systems. Understanding social behaviour and communication in biological and artificial systems requires knowledge of evolutionary, developmental and neurobiological aspects of social behaviour and communication; the embodied nature of interactions; origins and characteristics of social and narrative intelligence; perception, action and communication in the context of dynamic and social environments; social learning, adaptation and imitation; social behaviour in human-machine interactions; the nature of empathic understanding, behaviour and intention reading; minimal requirements and systems exhibiting social behaviour; the role of cultural factors in shaping social behaviour and communication in biological or artificial societies. The journal welcomes contributions that analyze social behaviour in humans and other animals as well as research into the design and synthesis of robotic, software, virtual and other artificial systems, including applications such as exploiting human-machine interactions for educational or therapeutic purposes. Fields of interest comprise evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, artificial life, robotics, psychology, cognitive neuroscience, computational neuroscience, cognitive modeling, ethology, social and biological anthropology, palaeontology, animal behaviour, linguistics. Interaction Studies publishes research articles, research reports, and book reviews. Interaction Studies is a successor of Evolution of Communication. While IS significantly broadens the original aims and scope of EoC, we clearly continue to encourage researchers studying the origins of human language and the evolutionary continuum of communication in general to submit high quality manuscripts to Interaction Studies. The International Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife (IJP-PAW) publishes the results of original research on parasites of all wildlife, invertebrate and vertebrate. This includes free-ranging, wild populations, as well as captive wildlife, semi-domesticated species (e.g. reindeer) and farmed populations of recently domesticated or wild-captured species (e.g. cultured fishes). Articles on all aspects of wildlife parasitology are welcomed including taxonomy, biodiversity and distribution, ecology and epidemiology, population biology and host-parasite relationships. The impact of parasites on the health and conservation of wildlife is seen as an important area covered by the journal especially the potential role of environmental factors, for example climate. Also important to the journal is 'one health' and the nature of interactions between wildlife, people and domestic animals, including disease emergence and zoonoses.The principal form of publication is the full-length article which contains substantial, original research. The journal also accepts brief reports that have similar subject scope as the full-length article, but do not merit a full-length publication. In addition, the journal commissions articles with emphasis on shorter, focused reviews of topical and emerging issues as well as strategically important subjects. The journal encourages critical comment and debate on matters of current controversy in the area of parasites and wildlife via "Current Opinions".This title is fully open access and therefore funded not through library subscription payments but through author fees. If you would like your article to be published open access, but you genuinely cannot afford these fees, then individual waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and may be granted in cases of genuine need. Cognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from biological and experimental studies to formal analysis. Contributions from the fields of psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, computer science, mathematics, ethology and philosophy are welcome in this journal provided that they have some bearing on the functioning of the mind. In addition, the journal serves as a forum for discussion of social and political aspects of cognitive science.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality and degree of innovation. A paper's theoretical relevance to cognition, overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. The importance to study and understand Islam and contemporary Muslim life from a socio-scientific perspective seems more relevant than ever. Currently, there is no specific journal that offers a platform for discussion on contemporary aspects of Islam and Muslims. Indeed, the historical, political and comparative approach to Islam has been preferred over social scientific research and themes. Contemporary Islam: Dynamics of Muslim Life aims to fill this gap by providing an active forum for the discussion of new ideas, fieldwork experiences, challenging views, and methodological and theoretical approaches to Muslim life.

Topical and interdisciplinary
Contemporary Islam: Dynamics of Muslim Life focuses on topical issues and takes an interdisciplinary approach that benefits from a cross-cultural perspective: articles will explore the relationship between Islam and its contemporary cultural, material, gender, economic, political, and religious expressions from different socio-scientific perspectives, such as anthropology, sociology, education, politics, international relations, ethnomusicology, arts, film studies, economics, human rights, international law, diaspora minority studies, demography, and ethics.

Focus
The journal provides insights into the contemporary dynamics of Muslim life by focusing on questions concerning the presence of Muslim migrants in the West as well as western-born Muslims, and the continuing active role that Islam plays in their lives. The journal also intends to provide insights into the idea of ‘the West’ among Muslims as well as the relationship between Muslim identities and social life. Contemporary Islam: Dynamics of Muslim Life regards Islam as a modern religion in today’s global societies.

The Armed Conflict Survey (ACS) is a new annual publication from the International Institute for Strategic Studies, publisher of yearly reference work on national defence capabilities The Military Balance and annual review of world affairs Strategic Survey. The ACS provides yearly data on fatalities, refugees and internally displaced people for all major armed conflicts, alongside in-depth analysis of their political, military and humanitarian dimensions. The first edition, to be published in 2015, covers the key developments and context of more than 40 conflicts, including those in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Myanmar, Syria and Yemen.

The ACS features essays by some of the world’s leading authorities on armed conflict, who write on subjects such as the development of jihadism after 9/11; hybrid warfare; refugees and internally displaced people; criminality and conflict; and the evolution of peacekeeping operations. The authors discuss the principal thematic and cross-regional trends that have emerged over the past year, complementing the granular approach to each conflict at the core of the book. Assessing Writing is a refereed international journal providing a forum for ideas, research and practice on the assessment of written language. Assessing Writing publishes articles, book reviews, conference reports, and academic exchanges concerning writing assessments of all kinds, including traditional ('direct' and standardised forms of) testing of writing, alternative performance assessments (such as portfolios), workplace sampling and classroom assessment. The journal focuses on all stages of the writing assessment process, including needs evaluation, assessment creation, implementation, and validation, and test development; it aims to value all perspectives on writing assessment as process, product and politics (test takers and raters; test developers and agencies; educational administrations; and political motivations). The journal is interested in review essays of key issues in the theory and practice of writing assessment.Assessing Writing embraces internationalism and will attempt to reflect the concerns of teachers, researchers and writing assessment specialists around the world, whatever their linguistic background. Articles are published in English and normally relate to the assessment of English language writing, but articles in English about the assessment of writing in languages other than English will be considered. Much of the most important learning happens through social interaction. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is an international journal devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning.Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. In-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings will be welcome, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. Longitudinal studies of learning trajectories are relevant as are analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning. The important point is that the relationships between cultures, social interaction and learners (and teachers) are in focus.The term 'interaction' includes forms of communication which take place through technologies of various kinds (telephone, the Internet, presentation technologies and so on). Interaction between people and artefacts, insofar as they address learning, are also relevant. Thus, the focus is not exclusively on face-to-face interaction. Also, issues of collective forms of learning characterizing systematic change, institutional development and communities of practice are central for the journal.The journal is multidisciplinary and invites scholars from relevant disciplines including psychology, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, communication studies and all areas of educational research. Data may come from ethnographies, experimental approaches, intervention studies, case studies, interviews, questionnaires, self-reports, cross-cultural comparisons, archives etc. Articles of different kinds will be welcome: reports of empirical research, theoretically orientated analyses, contributions to method, literature reviews, meta-analyses of research etc. There will be no restrictions when it comes to age levels or social settings.
