Health Policy is intended to be a vehicle for the exploration and discussion of health policy and health system issues and is aimed in particular at enhancing communication between health policy and system researchers, legislators, decision-makers and professionals concerned with developing, implementing, and analysing health policy, health systems and health care reforms, primarily in high-income countries outside the U.S.A.Health care policies and reforms are made at an ever-increasing pace in countries around the world - and policy-makers are increasingly looking to other countries for solutions to their own problems. Health Policy is committed to support this international dialogue to ensure that policies are not just copied but used and adapted based on the specific problems and objectives as well as the respective context. The journal encourages the submission of short, full-length, comparative and review articles (as well as groups of articles in "special sections") which address:1. What is happening in terms of policies, reforms, regulation etc. of health systems; 2. Where the ideas are coming from, i.e. whether they are "imported" from another country or developed within the country, and how innovative they are they in comparison to other countries;3. Why it is happening, e.g. as a consequence of a change in government, popular dissatisfaction or (perceived) unsustainable cost increases, and what are the objectives;4. The actors involved (both governmental as well as non-governmental), incl. their roles, their opinions and their strength in the decision and implementation process;5. Intended and, especially, unintended effects of these policies or reforms on the health system in terms of access, appropriateness, costs, effectiveness, quality, patient experience and equity etc.; and6. The aim of Higher Education Pedagogies is to identify, promote and publish excellence and innovations in the practice and theory of teaching and learning in and across all disciplines in higher education.
The journal will provide an international forum for the sharing, dissemination and discussion of research, experience and perspectives across a wide range of teaching and learning issues.
The journal will prove a valuable resource for individuals in the development and enhancement of their own practice, and for institutions in the promotion of the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Higher Education Pedagogies will focus on disciplinary pedagogies and learning experiences; the higher education curriculum, i.e. what is taught and how it is developed and enhanced including both skills and knowledge; the delivery of the higher education curriculum; how it is taught and how students learn, and academic development; the role of teaching and learning in the development of academic careers and its place within the profession. Higher Education Pedagogies welcomes papers which are accessible to both specialist and generalist readers and are theoretically and empirically rigorous. Through advancing knowledge of, and practice in, teaching and learning, Higher Education Pedagogies will prove essential reading for all those who wish to stay informed of state-of-the-art teaching and learning developments in higher education. Open Access -Article Publishing Charges 

To cover the cost of Open Access publishing, Higher Education Pedagogies charges an article publishing charge (APC) for all accepted articles. There is no submission charge. The APC for Higher Education Pedagogies is $1200 (£750 / €1000). For members of learned Societies publishing with Taylor & Francis this is reduced to $600 (£375/ €500). Members of the Higher Education Academy are eligible for APC waivers.
 
The APC is paid via an e-commerce transaction and invoicing will take place after acceptance of the article following peer review. Payment can be made via credit card, or an invoice can be requested. Further processing of the article will be deferred pending payment.

It is likely that your research funder, sponsor, or host institution has funding available for Open Access publication fees.

Can the publication fee be discounted or waivered?
In addition to the provision of waivers for members of the Higher Education Academy, Higher Education Pedagogies also provides fee waivers and discounts to support researchers in developing and emerging regions.  Authors are eligible to apply for a waiver if the corresponding author and majority of co-authors are based in countries as specified by the  Research4Life partnership. Other waivers will be granted on a case-by-case basis depending on the authors' circumstances. Authors should request a waiver during the submission process.

The Annals of Human Genetics is an international journal publishing rigorously peer-reviewed research. The principal aim of the Annals is to increase understanding of the biology of human variation, both in disease and in health. In recent years it has become apparent that the study of population genetics is extremely relevant to molecular pathology. The interaction of these fields can greatly increase our understanding of the generation and maintenance of variation in the human genome. The major topics covered in the Annals include:- Human genome variation - its evolution and implications for human biology. Interpretations of the current or future state of the human genome sequence are also welcomed. Human population genetics - including studies which elucidate human history, our understanding of chromosome evolution, and the geographic distribution of particular diseases, worldwide. The journal will also consider studies on primate populations. Statistical genetics - the application and improvement of mathematical approaches for analysis of genetic data, including linkage and association mapping of genes and QTLs. The journal also welcomes papers focussing on more general bioinformatic approaches. Genetics of common multifactorial diseases and other complex traits and QTLs - in general we expect these to be human but relevant animal models will also be considered. Mendelian disorders and their molecular pathology - the emphasis will again be on human disease but animal models or in vitro work may also be considered. In each of these areas we welcome high quality articles providing original data and/or analysis, and also methodological papers, preferably including application to real data. Large datasets and additional material can be stored and made easily available through the journal web site. An absolute requirement of all papers will be that a general reader of the journal can understand from the summary of the paper what problem the authors are trying to solve. Most articles published will be full-length research papers, and in each issue we aim to have at least one review article. Reviews are generally invited, but suggestions are very welcome and preliminary enquiries should be directed to the Reviews Editor, Steve Humphries. Short communications will also be considered if of sufficient interest.

The Arboricultural Journal: International Journal of Urban Forestry is the official journal of the Arboricultural Association, the largest professional body of its kind in the world. The journal is aimed at presenting high-quality research on urban and peri-urban trees, woods, and forests. It covers use, planning, design, history, establishment and management as main topics. The publication concentrates on all tree-dominated and urban forest related topics and associated ‘green’ resources in and around urban areas. These include public and private woodlands, urban parks and gardens, urban nature areas, street tree and square plantations, botanical gardens, cemeteries and crematoria, and of course the trees themselves.The journal welcomes fundamental and applied research papers, as well as review papers and short communications. Bioactive Carbohydrates and Dietary Fibre is intended to be an international journal focused on dietary fibre, and bioactive carbohydrates (including bioactive polysaccharides, oligosaccharides and glycoproteins. It will include original studies and comprehensive reviews on the primary structure, molecular characteristics including conformation, size and shape, and bioactivities demonstrated by studies using in vitro, cell culture, animal and human clinical trials for understanding the action mechanisms and efficacy of bioactive carbohydrates from plants, fungi, animals and produced by biotechnology.Specific bioactivities such as reducing serum cholesterol, modulating blood glucose and insulin levels, fermentability in the gastrointestinal track, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, immune regulatory and anti-oxidant activities demonstrated by these bioactive carbohydrates are the main focus of this journal. FBP aims to be the principal international journal for publication of high quality, original papers in the branches of engineering and science dedicated to the safe processing of biological products. The Revista Iberoamericana de Automática e Informática Industrial (RIAI) (Ibero-American Journal of Industrial Automation and Informatics) is the official Journal of the Comité Español de Automática (CEA) (Spanish Automation Committee), a member of the Federación Internacional de Control Automático (IFAC) (International Confederation of Automation Control). The Journal is directed towards the Ibero-American community, and in general, for environments in which Spanish is the basic language, and not exclusive, of communication. RIAI covers the wide field of Control Theory, Systems Engineering, Robotics, Automation Regulation, and the different technologies used in making these control systems, in particular those based on computers and communication networks. It publishes four issues per year, which include scientific-technical articles, communications and short articles, special articles, and opinion articles, of interest to research professionals, R&D Departments, and university community in the scientific-technical field of Industrial Automation and Informatics.

Science of the Total Environment is an international journal for publication of original research on the total environment, which includes the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and anthroposphere.The total environment is characterized where these five spheres overlap. Studies that focus on at least two or three of these will be given primary consideration. Papers reporting results from only one sphere will not be considered. Field studies are given priority over laboratory studies. The total environment is studied when data are collected and described from these five spheres. Articles submitted for publication in Science of the Total Environment should establish connections among research findings with implications for environmental quality, ecological health, and/or human health.

Sustainable Materials and Technologies (SM&T) is an international, cross-disciplinary and fully open access journal, published by Elsevier. SM&T publishes original full-length research articles and reviews in applied or fundamental science of nano-, micro-, meso-, and macro-scale aspects of materials and technologies for sustainable development with special attention to contributions that reduce the knowledge gap between materials and system designs.

Aims and Scope
SM&T acknowledges the interdisciplinary nature of scientific research on sustainable development and covers a broad and wide scope. It provides a scientific platform for physicists, mathematicians, chemists material scientists, engineers and other technical experts to contribute innovative works and combine the different disciplines in Sustainability Science and Technology related to:
• Resource-efficiency optimization (e.g., minimize amount of precious metals in product design)
• Waste minimization and management (e.g., CO2 capture and water purification)
• Material recycling and materials recovery from complex products
• Material substitution to enable lower-impact production and/or use (e.g., composites)
• Life cycle analyses of sustainable technologies
• Energy sources for the long term
• Materials performance targets in the context of a system design
• Advanced manufacturing processes with reduced energy, water, and materials footprint

Submissions focusing only on policy/decision making or economic aspects are unsuitable to SM&T.

Paper type
There are several options for authors to publish their recent works in SM&T:
• Fast track communication: Outstanding short articles reporting novel, recent and interesting works with high impact can benefit from accelerate publication procedure.
• Paper: Original scientific articles that are in line with the aims and scope of the journal.
• Notes: Brief descriptions of a technique, a small but important experiment or theoretical point, or a novel solution to a commonly encountered problem in sustainable science and technology fall in this category.
• Comments and replies: Critiques about a published article which should not be more than 500words (1 to 2 journal pages). The original authors will be invited to submit a reply.
• Invited topical reviews: Intended to summarize an accepted report on a recent development. Invited by the Editorial board and written by experts in related fields.

Trends in Anaesthesia and Critical Care aims to be a leading biomedical review journal, providing reviews and comment on highly topical subjects and the latest breakthroughs in basic, clinical and translational research. This includes basic and clinical research aimed at understanding disease processes and clinical practice of importance to anaesthesia and critical care. The aim is to stimulate debate on new research, cover controversial topics, or provide a new framework for, or interpretation of, an old problem or current issue, or speculate on the implications of recent research and clinical advances in health care infrastructure concerns at national or international levels. Many of these subjects also raise ethical, legal and financial issues and TACC may include articles on such matters.The journal's objective is to provide a platform for discussion, analysis and debate of these topics across a diverse, multidisciplinary audience of basic scientists and clinicians, who share the common goal of understanding anaesthesiology, pain, pharmacology, critical care and related subject areas with a view to new clinical practice. Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship that examines theories, practices, and processes of communication as they relate to the environment around the world. As such, the journal serves as a nexus, a place of global connection and conversation, among scholars working in and across a variety of disciplines who explore how humans communicate about and within both natural and cultural environments. The journal also seeks to promote interaction between academic scholars and those who practice environmental communication, including community members, industry professionals, government officials, and others, through a number of special features, including a regularly published section devoted to practice. The journal is grounded in two theoretical and practical commitments: 1) symbolic and natural systems are mutually constituted, and 2) effective engagement with environmental issues requires reflection on communication practices and processes. The Journal of Peasant Studies is increasing to 5 issues per volume from 2011 The Journal of Peasant Studies is one of the leading journals in the field of rural development. It was founded on the initiative of Terence J. Byres and its first editors were Byres, Charles Curwen and Teodor Shanin. It provokes and promotes critical thinking about social structures, institutions, actors and processes of change in and in relation to the rural world. It encourages inquiry into how agrarian power relations between classes and other social groups are created, understood, contested and transformed. The Journal pays special attention to questions of 'agency' of marginalized groups in agrarian societies, particularly their autonomy and capacity to interpret - and change - their conditions. The Journal promotes contributions that question mainstream prescriptions or interrogate orthodoxies in radical thinking. It welcomes contributions that explore theoretical, policy and political alternatives. The Journal encourages contributions about a wide range of contemporary and historical questions and perspectives related to rural development. These are issues that confront peasants, farmers, rural labourers, migrant workers, indigenous peoples, forest dwellers, pastoralists, fisherfolk and rural youth - both female and male - in different parts of the world. The editor welcomes contributions from scholars in the fields of political science, development studies, anthropology, sociology, geography, history, economics, law, cultural studies, gender studies, environmental studies, and interdisciplinary fields. There are three sections in the Journal: Articles, Grassroots Voices, and Reviews Section. Survey articles are encouraged and special issues are published occasionally. The Krishna Bharadwaj Prize and the Eric Wolf Prize From 2009 the Krishna Bharadwaj & Eric Wolf prize will be awarded once every two years for an outstanding article published in The Journal of Peasant Studies (JPS) by a 'young scholar'. A young scholar is someone who is either a graduate student or a scholar who has held a PhD degree for no longer than four years when the article was first submitted to the journal. An article jointly authored by a young and a senior scholar qualifies. The award commemorates two long-standing and distinguished members of the Editorial Advisory Board of JPS: the political economist Krishna Bharadwaj (1935-92) and the anthropologist Eric Wolf (1923-99). All articles, except for Notes and Communications, published in the relevant volumes are eligible. Analytical creativity and originality is the basis for the awards. Peer Review All submissions published in this journal undergo a refereeing process.

Since Aristotle's classification of political systems, power has been one of the most central and debated themes of the social sciences. Yet, despite its centrality, there has been little consensus on what constitutes the essence of power. It is part of the raison d'etre of the Journal of Political Power to capitalize on the consequent debates surrounding power.In political science, there have been continual debates from Dahl to Lukes and, recently, between followers of Foucauldian perspectives and more modernist view points. These have centred on the contrast between power in terms of agency and the way in which social consciousness create conditions of possibility for action or differential capacities. If we move into a cognate discipline, such as International Relations, we find that the area is divided between those who consider power purely in terms of material resources and those who argue that it is defined by ideas and perceptions - so-called realists'and idealists' A similar division is found in political-sociology, where some focus upon power in terms of legitimacy and authority while other, more 'hard-headed' theorists view it Machivallian terms of war and deceit.In political philosophy, the key division lies between those who consider power as defined by its exercise, its effects, intentions, and potentialities. In rational choice theory power is divided between those who view it positionally, almost as a kind of luck, and those who see it as episodic.In anthropology, in contrast to all the above, power is theorized in terms of rituals and ceremony.In sociology, there is a clear division between those influenced by Marxism, who define power in terms of class or economy, and the followers of the tradition of Weber, who consider power as linked to authority and domination.In feminist literature, the debate is dominated by the intricacies of the division between social constructivist accounts of gender and those who emphasize violence and material resources. Running through all these debates is the fundamental contrast between those who view power negatively, as domination, and those who think of it positively, as an essential ingredient of autonomy and empowerment. In short, some of the key debates within the social sciences are centred on the theme of power and it is intended that this journal should reflect this.Aside from theoretical debates, the Journal of Political Power is a primary outlet for those doing empirical work on relations of power and powerlessness. For instance, the Journal welcomes empirical analysis of the process whereby globalization, ethnicity, nationalism, war and gender are central to the constitution of power, whether conceptualised as domination or empowerment.

Javnost—The Public, Journal of the European Institute for Communication and Culture was established in 1994 as a platform for social scientists all over the world to address, promote, share, and discuss problems, issues and developments of publicness on international and interdisciplinary levels, to stimulate the development of theory and research in the field, and to help understand and bridge the differences between cultures.

Javnost—The Public publishes original research papers on all aspects of publicness with strong theoretical foundations. The research presented must transcend the limits of single case studies. Nevertheless, both empirical and theoretical studies are accepted if they offer insights into issues related to the public sphere theories and debates, such as:

• the role of (media) communication in fostering human freedom and social change;
• public service broadcasting;
• media democratization in East-Central Europe, South-East Asia and China;
• digitization of broadcasting; new developments in journalism;
• the importance of communication for class relationships;
• public opinion and political representation;

Although the primary objective of the journal is to contribute to intellectual understanding of transformations in the democratic process, it is also meant to contribute to improved political practice, policy, and action.

Euricom’s quarterly is named after the Slovene noun “ javnost,” which has the same complex meaning(s) as the German concept, Öffentlichkeit (the Slovene language is one of not very many languages that have a perfect conceptual equivalent to the German term Öffentlichkeit). Due to the multi-dimensionality of the concept “javnost,” its comprehensive and all-embracing translation into English and many other languages is not possible. The conceptual capacity of the traditional English term, “the public”, the English co-title of the journal, is one of its meanings in English, much narrower than its German/Slovene counterpart Öffentlichkeit/javnost, which is deliberately used against its currently much more popular rival, “the public sphere”. By using the term “the public,” we want to emphasize fundamental ontological differences between “the public” and “the public sphere” as two distinct entities and concepts, and oppose the widespread conceptual substitution of “the public” by “the public sphere,” which may – paradoxically – even imply the disappearance of the body public through a discursive process, i.e. the existence of “the public sphere” without “the public.”
