Don't miss the 3rd International Conference on Mathematics and Computation in Music, June 15-17th, IRCAM Journal of Mathematics and Music aims to advance the use of mathematical modelling and computation in music theory. The Journal focuses on mathematical approaches to musical structures and processes, including mathematical investigations into music-theoretic or compositional issues as well as mathematically motivated analyses of musical works or performances. 19th-Century Music publishes articles on all aspects of music having to do with the #!#!long#!#! nineteenth century. The period of coverage has no definite boundaries; it can extend well backward into the eighteenth century and well forward into the twentieth. Published tri-annually, the journal is open to studies of any musical or cultural development that affected nineteenth-century music and any such developments that nineteenth-century music subsequently affected. The topics are as diverse as the long century itself. They include music of any type or origin and include, but are not limited to, issues of composition, performance, social and cultural context, hermeneutics, aesthetics, music theory, analysis, documentation, gender, sexuality, history, and historiography.

ACM Transactions on Information Systems (TOIS) is a scholarly journal that publishes the highest quality papers about the design and evaluation of computer software that helps people find, organize, analyze, and use information in a variety of media. TOIS is published quarterly.

Transactions of the Philological Society continues the earlier Proceedings (1852-53), and is the oldest scholarly journal devoted to the general study of language and languages that has an unbroken tradition. Transactions continues to reflect the Society's long-standing interest in comparative and historical linguistics in general and in Indo-European and the history of English in particular. Transactions also reflects the Society's broad range of interests and welcomes studies of all languages from the perspective of any of the various subdisciplines of descriptive and theoretical linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and sociolinguistics.

Early Music is a stimulating and richly illustrated journal, and is unrivalled in its field. Founded in 1973, it remains the journal for anyone interested in early music and how it is being interpreted today. Contributions from scholars and performers on international standing explore every aspect of earlier musical repertoires, present vital new evidence for our understanding of the music of the past, and tackle controversial issues of performance practice. Each issue is beautifully illustrated and contains a wide range of articles on performance practice, iconography, sources, instruments and many other aspects of the historical context for a given work or repertory. Some issues are dedicated to a particular theme to mark the anniversary of a composer or to explore an otherwise uncharted territory, such as the music of the New World or the early musical traditions of non-Western cultures.

JBCS is a formal quarterly publication of the Brazilian Computer Society. It is a peer-reviewed international journal which aims to serve as a forum to disseminate innovative research in all fields of computer science and related subjects. Theoretical, practical and experimental papers reporting original research contributions are welcome, as well as high quality survey papers. The journal is open to contributions in all computer science topics, computer systems development or in formal and theoretical aspects of computing, as the list of topics below is not exhaustive. Contributions will be considered for publication in JBCS if they have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Fostering communications between scientists and musicians interested in the study of music phenomena, Music Perception publishes original theoretical and empirical papers, methodological articles, and critical reviews concerning the study of music.

The IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics journal covers all issues of widespread or generic interest to engineers who work in the field of power electronics. The Journal editors will enforce standards and a review policy equivalent to the IEEE Transactions, and only papers of high technical quality will be accepted. Papers which treat new and novel device, circuit or system issues which are of generic interest to power electronics engineers are published. Papers which are not within the scope of this Journal will be forwarded to the appropriate IEEE Journal or Transactions editors. Examples of papers which would be more appropriately published in other Journals or Transactions include: 1) Papers describing semiconductor or electron device physics. These papers would be more appropriate for the IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices. 2) Papers describing applications in specific areas: e.g., industry, instrumentation, utility power systems, aerospace, industrial electronics, etc. These papers would be more appropriate for the Transactions of the Society which is concerned with these applications. 3) Papers describing magnetic materials and magnetic device physics. These papers would be more appropriate for the IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. 4) Papers on machine theory. These papers would be more appropriate for the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems.  While original papers of significant technical content will comprise the major portion of the Journal, tutorial papers and papers of historical value are also reviewed for publication. 

This journal addresses the accessibility, usability, and, ultimately, acceptability of Information Society Technologies by anyone, anywhere, at anytime, and through any media and device. Universal Access in the Information Society (UAIS) focuses on theoretical, methodological, and empirical research, of both a technological and non-technological nature, that addresses equitable access and active participation of potentially all citizens in the information society. It features papers that report on theories, methods, tools, empirical results, reviews, case studies, and best-practice examples. The Journal's primary objectives are to: - provide an archival publication channel for the discussion and advancement of theoretical and practical aspects of universal access in the information society - facilitate the rapid and wide diffusion of scientific and technological results that promote universal access in the information society - stimulate cross-fertilization between the different contributing disciplines.

American Music publishes articles on American composers, performers, publishers, institutions, events, and the music industry, as well as book and recording reviews, bibliographies, and discographies. Article topics have included the lyricism of Charles Ives, Henry Cowell's "sliding tones," Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, Henry Brant's "Spatial Music," the reception and transformation of pop icons such as Presley and Sinatra, and the history and analysis of blues, jazz, folk music, and mixed and emerging musical styles.

Music Education Research is an international refereed journal which draws its contributions from a wide community of researchers. The focus is firmly on research, and the journal provides an international forum for cross-cultural investigations and discussions relating to all areas of music education.Music Education Research welcomes articles which report on and discuss research and methodological issues from the point of view of philosophy, sociology, psychology and comparative studies.
