First published in 1977, IATSS Research is an international English-language journal sponsored by the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences. It seeks to foster a harmonious traffic environment by inspiring all readers, whether interested in today or the future, to contemplate and discuss traffic-related research results drawn from a wide range of academic fields.IATSS Research provides an international forum for the publication of original articles covering a wide range of practical and theoretical aspects of traffic and traffic safety. IATSS Research seeks to improve scientific knowledge, clarifying traffic issues through a comprehensive approach that demands a high level of evidential proof. IATSS Research will publish original research papers addressing any transport mode or traffic participant from any academic discipline including engineering, information and communication technology, sociology, economics, business administration, law, public administration, psychology, education, and medical sciences. Submissions dealing with policy proposals for solving traffic and transport issues may also be accepted. All submissions are subject to peer review.The International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS) was established in 1974 as a public-interest corporation to foster a harmonious traffic environment through the pursuit of international, interdisciplinary research on traffic and traffic safety issues seen in the light of the interrelationship between man, machine and environment.

AGRICULTURE,ECOSYSTEMS AND ENVIRONMENTAn International Journal for Scientific Research on the Interaction Between Agroecosystems and the EnvironmentAgriculture, Ecosystems and Environment publishes scientific articles dealing with the interface between agroecosystems and the natural environment, specifically how agriculture influences the environment and how changes in that environment impact agroecosystems. Preference is given to papers from experimental and observational research at the field, system or landscape level, from studies that enhance our understanding of processes using data-based biophysical modelling, and papers that bridge scientific disciplines and integrate knowledge. All papers should be placed in an international or wide comparative context.The focus is on the following areas:• Biological and physical characteristics and dynamics of agroecosystems.• Ecology, diversity and sustainability of agricultural systems.• Relationships between agroecosystems and the natural environment, including land, air, and water.• Agroecosystem and global environmental changes including climate change, greenhouse gases and air pollution.• Ecological consequences of intensification, soil degradation, waste application, irrigation, and mitigation options.• Environmental implications of agricultural land use and land use change.All manuscripts are initially screened on their topic suitability and linguistic quality. The following topics are discouraged unless they provide new information regarding processes operating at the agroecosystem-environment interface: inventory and survey analysis and impact assessment, including life cycle and emergy analysis; greenhouse or laboratory-based studies; development of models or methodologies and pure model application; studies that are purely agronomic, socio-economic, or political.

Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability aims to track the emergence of a new innovative sustainability science discipline by integrating across regional and global systems with their typical dimensions, human-environment interactions and management challenges. Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability thus emphasises the actual interdisciplinary sustainability research approaches, the solutions it provides and their dissemination and application. Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability aims to stimulate scientifically grounded, interdisciplinary, multi-scale debate and exchange of ideas. It will contain polished, concise and timely review and synthesis papers. Additionally, Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability will continue to publish papers on strategic research plans of Future Earth (http://www.icsu.org/future-earth) and related global-change projects. It will thus serve as an invaluable source of information for researchers, lecturers, teachers, professionals, policy makers and students.

The journal publishes original, previously unpublished research reports, reviews and commentaries on various aspects of the boreal environment and its natural resources, in particular: environmental problems, their assessment, understanding and management, as well as the sustainable use of natural resources. Boreal is interpreted in a wide sense, i.e. including polar, subpolar and northern temperate conditions, biomes or ecosystems. The journal is a forum for emphasizing a holistic approach to environmental sciences, linking pressures via sources of pollution to the impacts on the environment through the processes occurring in various media. Articles dealing with monitoring, experimental, theoretical and modelling studies as well as their combinations are all welcome. Theme issues can be put forward using Special-issue proposal form.

nter-Research is pleased to announce the founding of a new journal: Aquaculture Environment Interactions (AEI). The journal will serve as a multi-disciplinary, international forum for primary research studies on the diverse interactions between aquaculture and the environment. Dr Tim Dempster (SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture, Norway) and Dr Marianne Holmer (University of Southern Denmark) have been appointed Editors-in-Chief.
