Journal Guide

The Journal of Portuguese Linguistics is concerned with all branches of linguistics and aims at publishing high-quality papers in the field of Portuguese linguistics, including the comparison between any varieties of Portuguese and any other language(s). Contributions are welcome from linguists in all countries, and from different linguistic theories and frameworks, including theoretically oriented work, comparative work, experimental studies, and interdisciplinary contributions. Papers are selected for publication solely on the basis of scientific quality. The language of publication is English.

The journal is read by anyone interested in linguistics, especially in Portuguese linguistics in a broad sense (any variety of Portuguese, Portuguese-based Creole languages, Iberian languages, cross-language/variety comparisons): academic researchers, institutional libraries, students, and professionals in areas in which Portuguese linguistics may play a role.

With the goal of being a platform for discussion in the field, the Journal of Portuguese Linguistics welcomes papers, book reviews and dissertations abstracts in areas such as the European, Brazilian, and African varieties of Portuguese, Portuguese in Asia, Portuguese-based Creole languages, Iberian languages, and language acquisition, variation, contact and change. The broadening of the journal's scope is reflected by the composition of the board of consulting editors. Initiatives for thematic issues with guest editors are particularly welcome.

Since 1977, the Journal of Pragmatics has addressed a number of questions that are essential to our understanding of how language works in communicative and social interaction, and continues to welcome innovative pragmatic scholarship from all perspectives. Through engagement with a wide scope of research in pragmatics, JoP provides a forum for studies that approach relevant issues in general linguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, and other areas of linguistic research with a distinctly pragmatic agenda.The Journal of Pragmatics also encourages work that explores the relationship between linguistic pragmatics and neighboring disciplines such as communication science (including the study of nonverbal communication), developmental and experimental psychology, the philosophy of language, and speech-language pathology (including the study of all developmental and acquired communication disorders). JoP welcomes both contributions originating in linguistics, and those taking neighboring, related fields as their point of departure.We also welcome the opportunity to publish high quality special issues, enabling the journal to make a significant contribution to a topical or developing area.

The Journal of Radio & Audio Media is a semiannual publication designed to promote scholarly dialogues generated by various disciplinary and methodological points of view. The Journal welcomes interdisciplinary inquiries regarding radio's contemporary and historical subject matter as well as those audio media that have challenged radio's traditional use. The Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology (JSST) provides an international forum for the dissemination of scientific, technological, and general knowledge about materials processed by chemical nanotechnologies known as the 'sol-gel' process. The materials of interest include gels, gel-derived glasses, ceramics in form of nano- and micro-powders, bulk, fibres, thin films and coatings as well as more recent materials such as hybrid organic-inorganic materials and composites. JSST publishes original research and technological manuscripts in the form of extended reports. Notulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca is a peer-reviewed biannual journal aimed at disseminating significant research and original papers, critical reviews and short reviews on plant breeding, genetics, diversity and development of new methodologies that can be of interest to a wide audience of plant scientists in all areas of plant biology, agriculture, horticulture, and forestry. South African Review of Sociology (SARS) publishes leading scholarship relevant to the South African sociological community and beyond, including original research articles, review papers, briefings and debates. Relevance is not defined in a narrow way and contributions on subjects of comparative or theoretical interest are welcomed. Moreover, the journal does not define 'sociological' restrictively, but as the study of society in the broader sense.
