Journal Guide

The Journal of Sleep Research is dedicated to basic and clinical sleep research. The Journal publishes original research papers and invited reviews in all areas of sleep research (including biological rhythms). The Journal aims to promote the exchange of ideas between basic and clinical sleep researchers coming from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. The Journal will achieve this by publishing papers which use multidisciplinary and novel approaches to answer important questions about sleep, as well as its disorders and the treatment thereof.

The Journal of Surface Investigation spans the field of surface physics, from the preparation of samples, through physical and chemical properties of surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures (including organic and biological materials), to data analysis and interpretation of results. The Journal focuses closely on novel experimental approaches to characterization of surfaces, interfaces and thin films by X-ray, synchrotron and neutron techniques, which are the most suited techniques for structural studies of nanosystems. The Journal publishes original experimental and theoretical articles and reviews on the most current problems of surface phenomena, surface structure, physical and chemical properties, treatment and investigations of surfaces, as well as thin films, interfaces, and more. The Journal also presents special issues and proceedings of Russian and international conferences.

The Journal of the European Mathematical Society (JEMS) is the official journal of the EMS. The Society, founded in 1990, works at promoting joint scientific efforts between the many different structures that characterize European mathematics. JEMS will publish research articles in all active areas of pure and applied mathematics. These will be selected by a distinguished, international board of editors for their outstanding quality and interest, according to the highest international standards. Occasionally, substantial survey papers on topics of exceptional interest will also be published. Starting in 1999, the Journal has been published by Springer-Verlag until the end of 2003. Since 2004 it is published by the EMS Publishing House. The first Editor-in-Chief of the Journal was J. Jost, succeeded by H. Brezis in 2003.

Russian Journal of Genetics (Genetika) was founded in 1965, soon after the end of Lysenko’s era, a time during which genetics was considered a false, reactionary science. Since its inception, the journal has made a significant contribution to the revival of genetics in the former Soviet Union. The journal publishes reviews and experimental papers in the areas of theoretical and applied genetics. It presents fundamental research on genetic processes at the molecular, cell, organism, and population levels. Special attention is paid to the most topical areas in modern genetics dealing with global concerns: the conservation and rational management of genetic resources and the evaluation, prediction, and prevention of the negative effects of environmental pollution. The journal also publishes papers dedicated to events in Russian science and the history of genetics.

Russian Journal of Genetics: Applied Research contains translations of papers selected from two leading Russian journals - Vavilovskii Zhurnal Genetiki I Selektsii (Vavilov Journal of Genetics and Breeding) and Ekologicheskaya genetika (Ecological Genetics). The Russian Journal of Plant Physiology (Fiziologiya Rastenii) is the most popular journal in phytophysiology in the former Soviet Union. Scandinavian Journal of Disability Research is an international peer-reviewed journal aiming to disseminate innovative, high quality, social research on disability, which enables critical reflection on the position of people with disabilities in different societal contexts.

The journal’s defining characteristic is a focus on the relationship between people with disabilities and their environments. It is multi-disciplinary in scope, incorporating research from a variety of perspectives - such as sociological, historical, cultural studies, health and social policy - which share a commitment to recognising that disability is not a property of the individual person, but something shaped by social relations and structures.

The journal was established by the Nordic Network on Disability Research (NNDR), an association who actively facilitate the sharing and dissemination of social research on disability in the five Nordic countries.

The IZA Journal of Migration is a peer-reviewed open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen, covering all issues related to the economics of migration and ethnicity in developed or developing countries. The Journal of African Earth Sciences sees itself as the prime geological journal for all aspects of the geology of the African continent and the Middle East, and especially on the search for natural resources from these regions.This international interdisciplinary journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers on the geodynamics of the African and Arabian plates and their contained mobile belts, cratons and sedimentary basins; the crustal evolution, tectonics and structural geology of this region; economic geology of major mineral deposits and hydrocarbon resources; sedimentology, stratigraphy and palaeontology, petrology and mineralogy, geochemistry and isotope geology of Africa and the Middle East.
