Health Expectations is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal publishing original research, review articles and critical commentaries. It includes papers which clarify concepts, develop theories, and critically analyse and evaluate specific policies and practices. The Journal provides a multi-disciplinary and international forum in which researchers from a variety of backgrounds can present their work to other researchers, policy makers, health care professionals, managers and consumer advocates.
Keywords: Health Expectations promotes critical thinking and informed debate about all aspects of public participation in health care and health policy, including:
"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." - George Orwell, Animal FarmInvertebrates may be spineless, but they certainly aren't worthless. Consider the honey bee, which pollinates 80% of our agricultural crops, or oysters, which clarify water and provide habitats for other aquatic life. And invertebrates studied in the lab are helping to advance research in almost every area of biology and medicine-from embryonic development to aging processes. Yet despite these important contributions and the fact that invertebrates make up over 95% of all animal species, they get only a tiny fraction of the respect and attention paid to animals with backbones, even in the laboratory. This much-needed issue of the ILAR Journal sheds light on the importance, versatility, and care and welfare requirements of invertebrates. The authors present both practical and philosophical matters in ways that will be broadly accessible and useful to those who interact with these underappreciated species.
Immigrants & Minorities, founded in 1981, provides a major outlet for research into the history of immigration and related studies. It seeks to deal with the complex themes involved in the construction of 'race' and with the broad sweep of ethnic and minority relations within a historical setting. Its coverage is international and recent issues have dealt with studies on the USA, Australia, the Middle East and the UK. The journal also supports an extensive review section.Peer Review Policy:All articles in this journal have undergone editorial screening and anonymous peer review. For over 45 years, The Indian Economic and Social History Review has been a meeting ground for scholars whose concerns span diverse cultural and political themes with a bearing on social and economic history. The Indian Economic and Social History Review is the foremost journal devoted to the study of the social and economic history of India, and South Asia more generally. The journal publishes articles with a wider coverage, referring to other Asian countries but of interest to those working on Indian history. Its articles cover India's South Asian neighbours so as to provide a comparative perspective. Issues are periodically organised around a specific theme as a special number. The journal's principal features are research articles, substantial review articles and bibliographic surveys, which also cover material available in Indian languages, as a special feature.
International Review of Applied Economics is devoted to the practical applications of economic ideas. Applied economics is widely interpreted to embrace empirical work and the application of economics to the evaluation and development of economic policies. The interaction between empirical work and economic policy is an important feature of the journal. The Journal is peer reviewed and international in scope. Articles that draw lessons from the experience of one country for the benefit of others, or that seek to make cross-country comparisons are particularly welcomed. Contributions which discuss policy issues from theoretical positions neglected in other journals are also encouraged. Although the International Review of Applied Economics associates itself broadly with the non-neo-classical tradition, it is does not identify itself with any specific theoretical or political position.Peer Review Policy:All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by two anonymous referees.
Inverse Problems and Imaging includes research articles of the highest quality that employ innovative mathematical and modeling techniques to study inverse and imaging problems arising in engineering all other sciences. Every published paper has a strong mathematical orientation employing methods from such areas as control theory, discrete mathematics, differential geometry, harmonic analysis, functional analysis, integral geometry, mathematical physics, numerical analysis, optimization, partial differential equations, stochastic and statistical methods. The field of applications include medical and other imaging, nondestructive testing, geophysical prospection and remote sensing as well as image analysis and image processing. This journal is committed to recording important new results in its field and will maintain the highest standards of innovation and quality. To be published in this journal, a paper must be correct, novel, nontrivial and of interest to a substantial number of researchers and readers.IPI will have four issues published in 2013 in February, May, August and November.
JMIR Nursing (JN, Editor-in-Chief: Elizabeth Borycki RN, PhD, FIAHIS, FACMI, FCAHS) is a peer-reviewed journal for nursing in the 21st century. The focus of this journal is original research related to the paradigm change in nursing due to health information technology and the shift toward preventative, predictive, and personalized health and nursing care. "In the 21st century the whole foundations of health care are being shaken. Technology is taking service to new heights of portability: less invasive, short-term, and with greater impact on both the length and quality of life. Along with portability is the immediately emerging impact of genomics/proteinomics with all that implies for how life processes will be dealt with, when they will be addressed, and the techniques and technologies that will be used to treat persons. Time-based nursing care with the activities of bathing, treating, changing, feeding, intervening, drugging, and discharging are quickly becoming historic references to an age of practice that no longer exists. Now the challenge for nursing practice skills relates more to taking on the activities of accessing, informing, guiding, teaching, counseling, typing, and linking. "
Journal of Chemical Ecology is devoted to promoting an ecological understanding of the origin, function, and significance of natural chemicals that mediate interactions within and between organisms. Such relationships, often adaptively important, comprise the oldest of communication systems in terrestrial and aquatic environments. The strong interdisciplinary association that has developed between chemists and biologists has accelerated our understanding of these interactions in nature. Scientific contributions, including review articles, original research papers, rapid communications, and Letters to the Editor are welcome from either members or nonmembers of the International Society of Chemical Ecology. Manuscripts must be in English. They may include substantive observations of interactions in nature, the elucidation of the chemical compounds involved, the mechanisms of their production and reception, and the translation of such basic information into survey and control protocols. Aims and Scope
Milan Journal of Mathematics (MJM) publishes high quality articles from all areas of Mathematics and the Mathematical Sciences. The authors are invited to submit 'articles with background', presenting a problem of current research with its history and its developments, the current state and possible future directions. The presentation should render the article of interest to a wider audience than just specialists. Many of the articles will be 'invited contributions' from speakers in the 'Seminario Matematico e Fisico di Milano'. However, also other authors are welcome to submit articles which are in line with the 'Aims and Scope' of the journal.
