Terrorism as a tactic has been used by political and ideological groups for thousands of years. Behavioral Sciences of Terrorism and Political Aggression aims to address the complex causation and effects of terrorist activity by bringing together timely, consistently scientifically and theoretically sound papers addressing terrorism from a behavioral science perspective, (encompassing biological, evolutionary, developmental, ecological, personality, social, military, and neuroscience approaches to psychology). The journal is not intended as a forum for articles presenting policy or strategy analysis or those highly driven by opinion, but instead will publish empirical and theoretical papers, letters to the Editor and invited visionary pieces by leading experts in the field, which have a strong base in behavioral science research. The articles will also draw in insights from related disciplines, including anthropology, economics, history, political science, nonlinear dynamic systems, and sociology.In particular, the journal seeks to further the understanding of key questions within terrorism research, including:What are the conditions that lead to the use of terrorist tactics?How can future terrorist attacks be predicted?How can terrorist attacks be prevented, or at least reduced?How are terrorists recruited?How can would-be terrorists and potential supporters be diverted?How do societies move towards democracies that do not foster terrorism?What is the impact of terrorism on societies that have been attacked?What are the effects of counterterrorism efforts on societies where such efforts are ongoing?How can recovery from the effects of terrorism on individuals and groups be expedited? Bioactive Carbohydrates and Dietary Fibre is intended to be an international journal focused on dietary fibre, and bioactive carbohydrates (including bioactive polysaccharides, oligosaccharides and glycoproteins. It will include original studies and comprehensive reviews on the primary structure, molecular characteristics including conformation, size and shape, and bioactivities demonstrated by studies using in vitro, cell culture, animal and human clinical trials for understanding the action mechanisms and efficacy of bioactive carbohydrates from plants, fungi, animals and produced by biotechnology.Specific bioactivities such as reducing serum cholesterol, modulating blood glucose and insulin levels, fermentability in the gastrointestinal track, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, immune regulatory and anti-oxidant activities demonstrated by these bioactive carbohydrates are the main focus of this journal. The common factor for published papers is “bioactivity” and it's influence on health. Cognitive Neuropsychiatry seeks to promote the study of cognitive processes underlying psychological and behavioural abnormalities, including psychotic symptoms, with and without organic brain disease. The journal publishes high quality empirical and theoretical papers (original papers, short reports, case studies and reviews) in fields of clinical and cognitive neuropsychiatry and which have a bearing on the understanding of normal cognitive processes. Based on the concept of "One World, One Health, One Medicine", interdisciplinary cooperation between specialists in human and animal medicine is of mutual interest and benefit. Therefore, there is need to combine the respective interest of physicians, veterinarians and other health professionals for comparative studies relevant to either human or animal medicine.Comparative Immunology, Microbiology & Infectious Diseases aims to respond to this concept of "One World, One Health, One Medicine" and to provide a venue for scientific exchange.The journal is open to subjects of common interest related to the immunology, immunopathology, microbiology and epidemiology of human and animal infectious diseases, especially zoonotic infections, and animal models of human infectious diseases. The role of environmental factors in disease emergence is emphasized.Original research papers of high quality and novelty on aspects of host response, molecular biology, pathogenesis, control and prevention and treatment of microbial diseases of domestic animals and wildlife (if the infections are of zoonotic interest and/or in relation with domestic animals), laboratory animals and animal models of human infections are considered for publication. Papers dealing primarily with epidemiology will only be considered if they demonstrate a clear impact on the pathogenesis or prevention of a disease. Similarly, articles addressing microbiology, immunology or pathogenesis must address issues of comparative medical interest.Review articles are highly appreciated. They should focus either on a pathogen or on analyses of the mechanisms of host-microbe interactions including epidemiological studies.Papers focusing solely on diagnostic techniques, case reports or drug trials will not be published. Papers of geographically limited interest, which repeat what had been established elsewhere, will not be considered. The readership of the journal is global. The Editors reserve the right to suggest submission to another journal for those papers which they feel would be more appropriate for consideration by that journal.Papers will be rejected if standards of care of, or procedures performed on animals are not beyond those expected of humane veterinary care. Standards must, at least, meet the International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research involving Animals, as issued by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences. Forest Ecology and Management publishes scientific articles that link forest ecology with forest management, and that apply biological and ecological knowledge to the management and conservation of man-made and natural forests. The scope of the journal includes all forest ecosystems of the world.A refereeing process ensures the quality and international interest of the manuscripts accepted for publication. The journal aims to encourage communication between scientists in disparate fields who share a common interest in ecology and forest management, and to bridge the gap between research workers and forest managers in the field to the benefit of both.The editors encourage submission of papers that will have the strongest interest and value to the Journal's international readership. The IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing is a cross-disciplinary and international archive journal aimed at disseminating results of research on the design of systems that can recognize, interpret, and simulate human emotions and related affective phenomena. Laterality: Asymmetries of Body, Brain and Cognition publishes high quality research on all aspects of lateralisation in humans and non-human species. Laterality's principal interest is in the psychological, behavioural and neurological correlates of lateralisation. The editors will also consider accessible papers from any discipline which can illuminate the general problems of the evolution of biological and neural asymmetry, papers on the cultural, linguistic, artistic and social consequences of lateral asymmetry, and papers on its historical origins and development. The interests of workers in laterality are typically broad.
