Nature Methods is a forum for the publication of novel methods and significant improvements to tried-and-tested basic research techniques in the life sciences. This monthly publication is aimed at a broad, interdisciplinary audience of academic and industry researchers actively involved in laboratory practice. It provides them with new tools to conduct their research and places a strong emphasis on the immediate practical relevance of the work presented.The journal publishes primary research papers as well as overviews of recent technical and methodological developments. We are actively seeking primary methods papers of relevance to the biological and biomedical sciences, including methods grounded in chemistry that have a practical application to the study of biological problems.To enhance the practical relevance of each paper, description of the method must be accompanied by its validation, its application to an important biological question and results illustrating its performance in comparison to available approaches. The prime focus of Tectonophysics will be high-impact original research and reviews in the fields of kinematics, structure, composition, and dynamics of the solid earth at all scales. Tectonophysics particularly encourages submission of papers based on the integration of a multitude of geophysical, geological, geochemical, geodynamic, and geotectonic methods with focus on:• Kinematics and deformation of the lithosphere based on space geodesy (e.g. GPS, InSAR), neoteoctonic studies, tectonic geomorphology, and geochronology;• Structure, composition, and thermal state of the crust and mantle and their evolution in various time scales based ongeophysical and geochemical studies;• Structural geology, folding, faulting, fracturing, analysis of stress and strain, and rock mechanics;• Orogenesis, tectonism, thermochronology, surficial processes, land-climate interactions, and Lithospheric-asthenospheric interactions;• Active tectonics, seismology, mechanisms of earthquakes and volcanism, geological hazards and their societal impacts;• Rheology and numerical modelling of geodynamic processes;• Laboratory measurements of physical and chemical parameters of crustal and mantle rocks, and their application to geophysics and petrology;• Innovative development, including testing, of new methods in geophysics and geodynamics.Tectonophysics welcomes contributions of three types:• Regular papers.• Fast track papers for short, innovative rapid communication, which will usually be reviewed within three weeks after submission. Bioinspiration and Biomimetics publishes research involving the study and distillation of principles and functions found in biological systems that have been developed through evolution, and application of this knowledge to produce novel and exciting basic technologies and new approaches to solving scientific problems. It provides a forum for interdisciplinary research which acts as a conduit to facilitate the two-way flow of ideas and understanding between the extensive bodies of knowledge of the different disciplines. It has two principal aims: to draw on biology to enrich engineering and to draw from engineering to enrich biology.The journal aims to include input from across all intersecting areas of both fields. In biology, this would include work in all fields from physiology to ecology, with either zoological or botanical focus. In engineering, this would include both design and practical application of biomimetic or bioinspired devices and systems. Food Microbiology publishes original research articles, short communications, review papers, letters, news items and book reviews dealing with all aspects of the microbiology of foods. Aims & Scope: Tissue Barriers is the first international cross-disciplinary journal that focuses on the architecture, biological roles and regulation of tissue barriers and intercellular junctions. We publish high quality peer-reviewed articles that cover a wide range of topics including structure and functions of the intestinal, airway, renal, epidermal and other types of tissue barriers, biology of  blood-brain and blood-testis barriers, molecular composition and dynamics of epithelial and endothelial junctions, leukocyte, tumor cell and pathogen interactions with epithelial and endothelial layers, non-cellular components of tissue barriers, barrier dysfunctions in diseases and drug delivery across epithelial and endothelial barriers.

Tissue Barriers publishes several categories of articles including: Original Research Papers, Short Communications, Technical Papers, Reviews, Perspectives and Commentaries, Hypothesis and Meeting Reports. Reviews and Perspectives/Commentaries will typically be invited. We also anticipate to publish special issues that are devoted to rapidly developing or controversial areas of research. Tissue Barriers has several goals:

• To promote cross-disciplinary awareness and collaborations between researchers working with different types of epithelial and endothelial barriers and build a broad and cohesive worldwide community of scientists interesting in this exciting field.
• To comprehend the enormous complexity of tissue barriers and map cross-talks and interactions between their different cellular and non-cellular components.
• To highlight the roles of tissue barrier dysfunctions in human diseases and accelerate a search for pharmacological enhancers of tissue barriers as potential therapeutic agents.

The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics exists primarily for dissemination of significant new knowledge in experimental equilibrium thermodynamics and transport properties of chemical systems. Therapeutic Advances in Chronic Disease covers the drug treatment of all major chronic diseases (excluding cancer). It publishes guidance on which drugs to use and when (i.e. expert opinion reviews, narrative reviews, analysis of published guidelines editorials or reviews). Single-drug reviews and drug class reviews are also published. Original research manuscripts of well-designed trials are also welcomed that show drug or drug class efficacy in a particular disease.

Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders is aimed at clinicians and researchers in neurology and is a forum for presenting the latest research and reviews in this discipline, concentrating on the more-common non-cerebrovascular neurological disorders. Topics covered include: neuroimmunology; movement and neurodegenerative disorders; pain and headache; behavioral cognitive syndromes; infections and neoplasms; demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis; disorders and injuries to the brain and spinal cord; epilepsy/seizure disorders.
