Biology Methods & Protocols publishes methodology and protocol papers in the biological sciences. It primarily publishes in the areas of genetics and heredity, biochemistry, molecular biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, marine and freshwater biology and cell biology. This includes but is not limited to genome research, genome bioinformatics, computational biology, human molecular genetics, GWAS, developmental genetics, cancer genetics, neurogenetics, therapy of genetic disease, nucleic acids and proteins, gene regulation, chromatin and epigenetics, RNA and structural biology, protein-nucleic acid interaction, recombinant DNA expression, microarray technology, ribosomes and protein translation, targeted gene modification, plant and animal ecology, plant and animal evolution, micro and macro evolutionary processes, ecosystem ecology, conservation ecology, evolutionary ecology, theoretical ecology, and behavioural ecology.

Biology Methods & Protocols encourages papers describing novel software papers.  Such papers should describe the software and one application of it.  We encourage authors to make their code available wherever possible.

Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics fosters progress in comprehending the nature of the biochemical and biophysical mechanisms underlying the control of cellular physiological homeostasis and the consequences of its perturbation. Reports span the disciplines of modern biochemistry and chemistry, biophysics and cell physiology, physics and engineering, molecular and structural biology and the medical sciences. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between molecular structure and the nature of the specific property/function under investigation. CBB publishes articles describing the quantitative utilization of and innovative developments in: genetic and biomolecular engineering; computer analysis of tissues, cells, cell networks, organelles, and molecular/macromolecular assemblies; research in and development of photometric, spectroscopic, microscopic, mechanical, and electrical methodologies/techniques in analytical cytology and cytometry, as well as innovation in instrument design.

Neuroethics is a forum for interdisciplinary studies in neuroethics and related issues in the sciences of the mind. The focus is on ethical issues posed by new technologies developed via neuroscience, such as psycho-pharmaceuticals and other ways of intervening in the mind; the practice of neuroscience itself, including problems posed by incidental findings in imaging work on research subjects; regulation of neuroscientific technologies, and ways in which the sciences of the mind illuminate traditional moral and philosophical problems, such as the nature of free will and moral responsibility, self-deception, weakness of the will and the nature of personhood. This important publication covers the dual areas of neuroethics: the ethics of neuroscience and the neuroscience of ethics. It offers comprehensive bibliographies, reviews of significant literature, information on activities including partial proceedings of selected meetings, and an opinions section for reader commentaries.

Neuroinformatics publishes original articles and reviews with an emphasis on data structure and software tools related to analysis, modeling, integration, and sharing in all areas of neuroscience research. Coverage extends to theory and methodology, including discussions on ontologies, modeling approaches, database design, and meta-analyses; descriptions of developed databases and software tools, and of the methods for their distribution; relevant experimental results, such as reports accompanied by the release of massive data sets; computational simulations of models integrating and organizing complex data; and neuroengineering approaches, including hardware, robotics, and information theory studies. Neuroinformatics also publishes independent 'tests and evaluations' of available neuroscience databases and software tools, and fosters a commitment to the principles of tool and data sharing.

In contrast to many other publications in this field, Gender Issues does not focus on women as an insular group: it broadens the perspective to include men’s issues, and the extensive effect of changing sex roles on gender relations. Gender Issues is dedicated to publishing basic and applied research on the relationships between men and women: on similarities and differences in socialization, personality, and behavior: and on the changing aspirations, roles, and status of women in industrial, urban societies as well as in developing nations. Gender Issues encourages contributions from scholars in all areas of the social sciences, as well as letters to the editor, and incisive reviews of important literature from all sides of the debate about gender relations.

High Temperatures - High Pressures publishes original research papers related to thermophysical properties of matter, including thermal and transport properties. Papers dealing with the gaseous, liquid or solid phase are equally welcome. Special emphasis is put on matter under extreme conditions such as high temperatures and high pressures, on properties of micro- or nano-structured materials, and on non-linear properties related to high rates of energy transport. Both theoretical and experimental work will be considered for publication. Reports on measurements of thermophysical property data as well as on the use of these data for applications form an integral part of the journal’s scope. Papers on novel experimental techniques and critical compilations and analyses of existing data may also be submitted.

Science and technology related to the basic physics and engineering of magnetism, magnetic materials, applied magnetics, magnetic devices, and magnetic data storage. The IEEE Transactions on Magnetics publishes scholarly articles of archival value as well as tutorial expositions and critical reviews of classical subjects and topics of current interest.

IET Control Theory & Applications is dedicated to control systems in the broadest sense, and publishes theoretical papers which discuss the applications of new and established control methods. Most of its papers represent original research from industrial and government laboratories and universities. However it also covers subject reviews and tutorial expositions of current methods and correspondence discussing published papers. Topics covered include system modelling, identification and simulation, the analysis and design of control systems (including computer-aided design), and practical implementation. The scope encompasses technological, economic, physiological (biomedical) and other systems, including man–machine interfaces.
