The Current Opinion journals were developed out of the recognition that it is increasingly difficult for specialists to keep up to date with the expanding volume of information published in their subject. In Current Opinion in Plant Biology, we help the reader by providing in a systematic manner:1. The views of experts on current advances in plant biology in a clear and readable form. 2. Evaluations of the most interesting papers, annotated by experts, from the great wealth of original publications.Division of the subject into sections: The subject of plant biology is divided into themed sections which are reviewed regularly to keep them relevant. Presently they are:Growth and development - Genome studies and molecular genetics (+ Plant biotechnology every other year) - Physiology and metabolism - Biotic interactions - Cell signalling and gene regulation - Cell biologySelection of topics to be reviewed:Section Editors, who are major authorities in the field, are appointed by the Editors of the journal. They divide their section into a number of topics, ensuring that the field is comprehensively covered and that all issues of current importance are emphasised. Section Editors commission reviews from authorities on each topic that they have selected.Reviews: Authors write short review articles in which they present recent developments in their subject, emphasising the aspects that, in their opinion, are most important. In addition, they provide short annotations to the papers that they consider to be most interesting from all those published in their topic over the previous year.Editorial Overview: Section Editors write a short overview at the beginning of the section to introduce the reviews and to draw the reader's attention to any particularly interesting developments.Ethics in Publishing - General Statement: The Editor(s) and Publisher of this Journal believe that there are fundamental principles underlying scholarly or professional publishing. Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica acts as an international forum for the dissemination of information advancing the science and practice of psychiatry. The Annals of the International Communication Association is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal publishing state-of-the-discipline literature reviews and essays, including: descriptive reviews; meta-analyses; and theoretical essays.

Submissions to the Annals are broadly defined as follows:

• Reviews – retrospective reviews, helping readers understand the development of current knowledge within the discipline over a defined period in the past, or prescriptive reviews, creating a roadmap for future direction of research on communication
• Communication Insights – examining a set of predetermined topics that provide a degree of continuity across the years and indicate how a specific research topic has developed. A set of predetermined topics will rotate over five year periods
• Book Reviews – reviewing a set of recently published books that focus on a central theme within the discipline.  The goal of the Annals book reviews is to provide a critical review and synthesis of published books. The Editor encourages authors from non-English language speaking countries to consider submitting topical reviews of books not available in the English language in order to increase the reach of communication studies research globally.

The Annals is both international and interdisciplinary in scope, with authors and chapters representing the broad global interests of the International Communication Association.  All submissions will be subject to initial editor screening and subsequent peer review as necessary.

The Annals will continue the traditions established in Communication Yearbook providing an updated context for key research from across the Association.

Area Development and Policy ( ADP) is to be a world-class journal publishing original academic research examining the multi-scalar and geographically differentiated relationships between economic and political organization, ways of life and work and their context, as they shape regions, cities, rural areas and their inter-relationships.

Geographically it concentrates on issues relating to the Greater BRICS and aims to publish research emerging from these countries as well from the developed world.

ADP recognizes that the economic, political, cultural and geographical context plays a fundamental role in shaping development. ADP therefore recognizes that research should examine the role of diverse national and regional institutional configurations and values, and that theories should derive from the experiences of these countries and regions and not necessarily from theories derived from the possibly exceptional experiences of Northwest Europe and North America.

ADP aims to expand common ground while accepting differences, improve mutual communication and increase cooperation and shared learning.

Biomedical engineering has been characterized as the application of concepts drawn from engineering, computing, communications, mathematics, and the physical sciences to scientific and applied problems in the field of medicine and biology. Concepts and methodologies in biomedical engineering extend throughout the medical and biological sciences. This journal attempts to critically review a wide range of research and applied activities in the field. More often than not, topics chosen for inclusion are concerned with research and practice issues of current interest. Experts writing each review bring together current knowledge and historical information that has led to the current state-of-the-art. Each issue contains one or more critical reviews of specified topics representing applied, clinical and basic science areas. Most articles contain in-depth appraisals of the current state-of-the-art in a specific area of research or practice and provide complete and up-to-date bibliographies. Each review attempts to be nearly exhaustive in a constrained area rather than broad and overarching. The critical evaluations of current research and development issues include interpretive discussions of major problems. From time to time, a series of articles in a related topic area are published in order to give comprehensive coverage. Collaborative works generated by multiple authors are frequently used to provide in-depth coverage from multiple viewpoints. Each article is reviewed by one or more independent experts in the field. The editor invites comments and suggestions about the contents of the reviews.

The ultimate aim of Ecological Indicators is to integrate the monitoring and assessment of ecological and environmental indicators with management practices. The journal provides a forum for the discussion of the applied scientific development and review of traditional indicator approaches as well as for theoretical, modelling and quantitative applications such as index development. The International Journal of Fluid Power was established in 2000 as the first English language scientific journal fully dedicated to fluid power technology. The journal publishes occasional reviews of specific topics, theoretical pieces and commentaries on methodological issues.
