Since its inception in 1970 by the Scandinavian Ornitholists´ Union, the journal Ornis Scandinavica gradually became a truly international publication attracting subscribers and contributors from all over the world. To endorse this global perspective, in 1994 the journal´s name was was changed to 'Journal of Avian Biology'. Currently, there are 6 issues/year. The print run is about 600 pages per annum. Journal of Avian Biology publishes empirical and theoretical research in areas of ornithology, with an emphasis on behavioural ecology and evolution. Preferably, papers should test hypothesis, or explore new ground. Purely descriptive studies are accepted only when they contain important new information that give rise to new questions and/or open up new ground. The journal focuses on advancing the global field of citizen science by providing a venue for citizen science researchers and practitioners to share best practices in conceiving, developing, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining projects that facilitate public participation in scientific endeavors in any discipline. Authors include scientists, educators, community organizers, information technologists, conservation biologists, evaluators, land-use planners, and more. Readers include anyone interested in understanding and improving practice of the growing citizen science field. As an open-access journal no fees are charged to view any part of the journal, which is supported by nominal author’s fees.

The journal accepts manuscripts in several categories: Research articles, review and synthesis articles, case studies, methods papers, meeting reports, and essays. We are flexible with these categories, however, as we strive to meet the needs of the citizen science community of practice. We do maintain a rigorous peer-review system that includes a double-blind option. In the future, we plan to experiment with varied types of publications including Registered Reports and pre-publication peer review. The journal publishes supplemental information.

Articles from other fields are welcome, as long as their content is relevant to computer science.Articles should be of sufficient scientific interest and help to advance the fundamental understanding of ongoing research, applied or theoretical, for a general computer science audience. Marine & Freshwater Research is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes original and significant research from all aquatic environments and subject areas. Subject areas include biology and ecology, fisheries science, biogeochemistry, physiology, genetics, biogeography and phylogeography, hydrology, oceanography, toxicology, and aquatic ecosystem processes such as nutrient cycling. Environments range from groundwaters, wetlands and streams to estuaries, rocky shores, coral reefs, and the open ocean.Papers that address broad conceptual questions, are interdisciplinary and of wide interest, and that consider further implications and management applications are especially encouraged, given the Journal´s broad scope. The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine focuses on human biology and disease, as well as animal studies that contribute to the understanding of pathophysiology and treatment of diseases that affect the respiratory system and critically ill patients. Papers that are solely or predominantly based in cell and molecular biology are published in the companion journal, the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology. The Journal also seeks to publish outstanding review articles on areas of interest in several forms. The State-of-the-Art review is a treatise usually covering a broad field that brings bench research to the bedside. Shorter reviews are published as Clinical Commentaries or Pulmonary Perspectives. These are generally focused in a more limited area and advance a concerted opinion about care for a specific process. Case Reports of exceptional merit are also published in the Journal.A recent trend and future direction of the journal has been to include debates of a topical nature on issues of importance in pulmonary and critical care medicine and to the membership of the American Thoracic Society.
