Zoosystematics and Evolution, formerly Mitteilungen aus dem Museum fur Naturkunde in Berlin, Zoologische Reihe - is an international, peer-reviewed life science journal devoted to whole-organism biology. It publishes original research and review articles in the field of Metazoan taxonomy, biosystematics, evolution, morphology, development and biogeography at all taxonomic levels. Its scope encompasses primary information from collection-related research, taxonomic descriptions and discoveries, revisions, annotated type catalogues, aspects of the history of science, and contributions on new methods and principles of systematics. Articles whose main topic is ecology, functional anatomy, physiology, or ethology are only acceptable when of systematic or evolutionary relevance and perspective. All submitted manuscripts are subject to peer-review by the specialists for the respective topic. The high scientific profile of the journal is reflected by an outstanding print quality which is adept in conveying the valuable information contained in the often detailed line drawings and photographs of scientific illustrations. Authors are provided - without any page charge - 25 reprints and a high-resolution pdf of their article. For detailed information readers and authors are asked to refer to the following URL for the journal at Wiley Interscience and the Museum fur Naturkunde, respectively:.
The journal's authorship is therefore not restricted to any discipline, but it is restricted in terms of quality and subject matter-articles are accepted based on merit, and their focus on the intersection of human activity (at whatever level of analysis) and energy systems (at whatever level of analysis). The editors emphasize that cross cultural, comparative, mixed-methods research is especially encouraged, and discourage submission of single-country case studies and/or studies that rely only on one method in isolation. Authors of single country studies, if submitted, must demonstrate that they have situated their study in the broader context and have highlighted the significance of their study. In addition, studies that utilize primarily engineering methods and econometric models must primarily focus on the "social" side of energy use and clearly meet the aims and scope of the journal.
Disciplinarily, submissions are thus welcome from all fields of inquiry since the editors recognize that in many cases high quality research may not fit into any predetermined category. Moreover, the journal will not exclude any energy source, technology, system, topic, or energy service from the scope of its articles.
Readers are actively encouraged to peruse past issues of ERSS to connect their piece to wider themes and discussions in the journal, especially the inaugural special issue available
The journal publishes four types of articles:
• Original research articles (generally between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including references)
• Short communications and letters (generally 1,000 to 3,000 words)
• Review essays (8,000 to 12,000 words)
• Book reviews (1,000 to 2,000 words per book reviewed, longer review essays of multiple books are permitted)
Articles submitted to the journal will undergo two levels of review. First, the editor(s) will screen them to determine their appropriateness to the aims and scope of the journal, as well as to gauge their methodological rigor and their quality of English writing.
Second, if articles pass the editorial screening, they will undergo rigorous peer review by anonymised referees (double blind review). Generally, articles can receive one of five decisions:
To assist with the advancement of the journal, all authors of accepted articles in ERSS may be requested to review at least one article in the area of their expertise.
Journal of Contemporary Asia Prize 2011 The Journal of Contemporary Asia is an established refereed publication, it appears quarterly and has done so since 1970. When the journal was established, it was conceived as providing an alternative to mainstream perspectives on contemporary Asian issues. The journal maintains this tradition and seeks to publish articles that deal with the broad problems of economic, political and social development of Asia. Articles on economic development issues, political economy, agriculture, planning, the working class, people's movements, politics and power, imperialism and empire, international financial institutions, the environment, and economic history are especially welcomed. The journal also has a strong interest in the scientific development of theory that is of global significance, especially on the role of the state, class analysis, power and globalisation. An important aim of the journal has been to publish the work of Asia-based researchers, those working in best traditions of critical political economy, and young researchers. Peer Review Statement All research articles published in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial screening by the co-editors and members of the editorial board, followed by anonymous refereeing by two referees. All review articles, book reviews and commentaries published in this journal have undergone editorial review by the co-editors and/or other members of the editorial board. Best Practice & Research Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism is a topical serial publication integrating the results from the latest original research into practical, evidence-based review articles that seek to address the key clinical issues of diagnosis, treatment and patient management. Each issue follows a problem-orientated approach which focuses on the key questions to be addressed, clearly defining what is known and highlighting topics for future research. Management is described in practical terms so that it can be applied to the individual patient. The series is aimed at the physician either in practice or in training. In practical paperback format, each 200 page issue of Best Practice & Research Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism provides a comprehensive review of clinical practice and thinking within one specific area of endocrinology and metabolism. Each issue, written by an international team of contributors and guest edited by a renowned expert, form part of a continuous update of current clinical practice.• Attractive format and two-colour text layout• Six issues published annually• Highlighting the latest 'best practice' and 'clinical evidence'• Topic-based, problem-orientated approach• Recommendations on diagnosis, treatment and patient managementThe objective of the series is to provide the physician with the most up-to-date source of information in the field.
MBoC publishes research articles and essays that report the results of original research and present conceptual advances of broad interest and significance within all areas of cell biology, genetics, and developmental biology. Manuscript submissions whose scope bridges several areas of cell and developmental biology are particularly encouraged. MBoC publishes articles that describe substantial research progress in full. Therefore, authors should include with their manuscript submissions all previously unpublished data and methods essential to support the conclusions drawn. MBoC does not, in general, publish articles that are narrow in scope and better suited to more specialized journals, merely confirmatory or preliminary reports of partially completed or incompletely documented research, findings of as yet uncertain significance, or reports that simply document well-known processes in organisms or cell types not previously studied. Submissions that report new methodologies will be considered only when a new result of biological significance has been achieved or when introduction of the method will significantly accelerate progress within a field.Note that MBoC places a premium on research articles that present conceptual advances of wide interest or deep mechanistic understanding of important CELLULAR processes. As such, articles dealing principally with describing behavior or modification of specific transcription factors, or analysis of the promoter elements through which they interact, will not generally be considered unless accompanied by information supporting in vivo relevance or broad significance.
