Medical Microbiology and Immunology covers all aspects of the interrelationship between infectious agents and their hosts. Among the major topics covered are microbial and viral pathogenesis and the immunological host response to infections. The journal also publishes information from other fields of microbiology, including mycology and parasitology.

Medical Molecular Morphology is an international forum for researchers in both basic and clinical medicine to present and discuss new research on the structural mechanisms and the processes of health and disease at the molecular level. The normal function and structures of molecules, organelles, cells, tissues, and organs determine their normal function. Disease is thus best understood in terms of structural changes in these levels of biological organization, especially in molecules and molecular interactions as well as the cellular localization of chemical components. Medical Molecular Morphology presents articles on basic or clinical research in the fields of cell biology, molecular biology, and medical, veterinary, and dental sciences using techniques for structural research such as electron microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, radioautography, X-ray microanalysis, and in situ hybridization.

As an official publication of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM), Medical Mycology, is an international journal, which focuses on original and innovative studies of all aspects of medical, veterinary and environmental mycology. The topics include, but are not limited to, mycological, biochemical and molecular investigations of etiological agents of mycoses; aspects of pathogenesis, immunology, and epidemiology of mycoses; laboratory approaches to the identification of fungal pathogens; antifungal susceptibility, therapy and prophylaxis; mode of antifungal action; pharmacokinetics and assessments of new antifungal agents; and investigations of the mycological aspects of the indoor environment, with a focus on human and animal health. Medical Oncology (MO) communicates the results of clinical and experimental research in oncology and hematology, particularly with experimental therapeutics with the field of immunotherapy and chemotherapy. It also provides state-of-the-art Reviews on clinical and experimental therapies in oncology and hematology. Topics covered include immunobiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of malignant tumors.

At the 2010 AAPM meeting, Journal Manager Penny Slattery and I, with the participation of Deputy Editors David Rogers and Andy Karellas, presented a 1 1/2 hour workshop on Writing and Reviewing Papers for Medical Physics. The power point slides that were used in the workshop are available here. A substantial audience turned out for the workshop, and the discussion that followed the power-point presentation was lively and insightful. The audience response to the workshop was one more indication of the enthusiasm of AAPM members for their journal, and the interest of medical physicists in general in the expansion of Medical Physics into new areas of imaging and oncology, and in the growth of the journal as the leading publication in medical physics worldwide.
