Environmental Technology Reviews publishes peer reviewed Brief Reviews (up to 5000 words) and Critical Reviews. The length of Critical Review papers is more flexible than for a Brief Review paper, but is usually in the range of up to 12,000 words. Brief Reviews are reviews on a well-defined, specific topic area covering approximately the last five years and the most interesting/significant developments in that area.
Papers are published both in print and online. Accepted manuscripts are generally published online within 1 month of acceptance, prior to appearing in the annual print issue. Environmental Technology Reviews is committed to maximising the visibility of research. All accepted papers can be published Open Access. In addition, the Editor selects a small number of papers per year for additional promotion; these papers are made free to access for a limited period of time.The journal originated from Environmental Technology , a forum for the rapid publication of technological manuscripts in the same field. Ergonomics, also known as human factors, is the scientific discipline that seeks to understand and improve human interactions with products, equipment, environments and systems. Drawing upon human biology, psychology, engineering and design, ergonomics aims to develop and apply knowledge and techniques to optimise system performance, whilst protecting the health, safety and well-being of individuals involved. The attention of ergonomics extends across work, leisure and other aspects of our daily lives. The journal Ergonomics is an international multi-disciplinary refereed publication, with a 50 year tradition of disseminating high quality research. Original submissions, both theoretical and applied, are invited from across the subject, including physical, cognitive, organisational and environmental ergonomics. The European Research Area has now become a reality. The prime objective of the EJECE is to fully document advances in European scientific and technical research in the fields of sustainable construction and environmental engineering. In particular regard to the latter, the environmental preservation of natural media (soils and rocks) and the mitigation of soil pollutions, natural and technological risks are now not only major societal challenges, but they are also the source of scientific and technical developments that could be extremely beneficial.Areas covered by the EJECE include rheology of geomaterials (cement, soils, rocks), natural media (muds, snow, ice, etc.) and granular materials, soil-fluid-structure interactions and their coupling with temperature, chemistry (degradation, etc.) and time (durability, ageing, etc.), computation and design of structures and engineering works. The new experimental facilities and measurement tools (metrology and sensors in laboratories and in the field, etc.) and the characterizing of displacement fields and of micro-meso-structures of materials (scanner, tomodensitometer, etc.) give rise to major innovations which concern thus primarily the EJECE .
