Journal of Geophysical Research (JGR) publishes original scientific research on the physical, chemical, and biological processes that contribute to the understanding of the Earth, Sun, and solar system and all of their environments and components. JGR is currently organized into seven disciplinary sections (Atmospheres, Biogeosciences, Earth Surface, Oceans, Planets, Solid Earth, Space Physics). Sections may be added or combined in response to changes in the science.
The Journal of Great Lakes Research is multidisciplinary in its coverage, publishing manuscripts on a wide range of theoretical and applied topics in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and geology of the large lakes of the world and their watersheds. We also welcome contributions on saline lakes. Research on estuarine waters may be considered if the results have application to large lakes. Large lakes generally are considered as those lakes which have a mean surface area of >500 km2 (see Herdendorf, C.E. 1982. Large lakes of the world. J. Great Lakes Res. 8:379-412, for examples), although smaller lakes may be considered, including very deep lakes. For example, the Journal has published papers on the Finger Lakes and, more recently, on Quesnel Lake in British Columbia.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. The Journal of Molluscan Studies accepts papers on all aspects of the study of molluscs. These include systematics, molecular biology, palaeontology, ecology, physiology and many other areas, as will be seen from a glance through recent Contents lists. Where the topic is some aspect of applied malacology (for example fisheries, parasitology, neurobiology, biochemistry, biomedical studies etc), papers will still be considered as long as the mollusc is the principal focus of the study, and not incidental or simply a convenient experimental animal. While systematic papers are encouraged, descriptions of single new taxa will only be considered if they include significant ‘added value’, for example in the form of new information on anatomy or distribution, or if they are presented in the context of a systematic revision or phylogenetic analysis of the group. Papers in the format of Research Notes are generally methodological notes, or brief reports that are of unusually wide interest or importance; these are published as rapidly as possible after acceptance. Review papers on topics of general interest are also accepted. .
This journal provides a vehicle for the rapid dissemination of original scientific work dealing with the reconstruction of lake histories. Although the majority of papers deal with lakes, it also publishes paleoenvironmental studies of river, wetland, peatland and estuary systems. In addition to original data and ideas, the Journal of Paleolimnology publishes review articles, commentaries, book reviews and program announcements.Like the subject itself, this journal is multidisciplinary in nature, and publishes papers concerned with biological, chemical, physical, and geological methods that are used to reconstruct and interpret lake histories. The Journal of Paleolimnology continues to be a major repository for papers dealing with climatic change, as well as other pressing topics, such as global environmental change, lake acidification, eutrophication, long-term monitoring, and other aspects of lake histories ontogeny.MEET THE EDITORS!

The Journal of Phycology was founded in 1965 by the Phycological Society of America. The Journal is a leading international journal and publishes research from all over the world. All aspects of basic and applied research on algae are included to provide a common medium for the ecologist, physiologist, cell biologist, molecular biologist, morphologist, oceanographer, acquaculturist, systematist, geneticist, and biochemist. The Journal also welcomes research that emphasizes algal interactions with other organisms and the roles of algae as components of natural ecosystems. Papers are accepted on the basis of their original and meritorious data and ideas; our focus is on research articles but mini-reviews and reviews are solicited on especially important and timely subjects. Comments, which are reviewed, may describe methods or equipment, discuss papers previously published in the Journal, or discuss other topics of interest to our readership. Other features include Algae Highlights, which draws attention to some of the important papers being published in each issue of the Journal or elsewhere, and Book Reviews. The Luigi Provasoli Award, named in honor of the founding Editor of the Journal, is presented annually by the Editorial Board to the authors who in the Board's judgment have published the best research paper in the previous year in the Journal.
About the JournalJournal of Plankton Research publishes innovative papers that significantly advance the field of plankton research, and in particular, our understanding of plankton dynamics. The main topics covered are: *plankton ecology and behaviour, including model and theoretical studies *plankton physiology, including experimental results *molecular biology, genetics and taxonomy of planktonic organisms *biological properties and content of natural waters as they impinge directly on plankton physiology and ecology *development and testing of new methods for plankton research All kinds of marine, brackish and freshwater plankton are considered: viruses, bacteria, fungi, phytoplankton, and zooplankton, including meroplankton and ichthyoplankton.Hypothesis-driven work is particularly welcomed; purely descriptive papers will generally not be considered. Investigations carried out using interdisciplinary methods are particularly encouraged.JPR seeks to publish the highest quality scientific papers, with rapid publication, and with high standards of technical presentation.
The Journal of Sea Research is an international and multidisciplinary periodical on marine research, with an emphasis on the functioning of marine ecosystems in coastal and shelf seas, including intertidal, estuarine and brackish environments. As several subdisciplines add to this aim, manuscripts are welcome from the fields of marine biology, marine chemistry, marine sedimentology and physical oceanography, provided they add to the understanding of ecosystem processes.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
