The monthly journal Biochemistry (Moscow) is the international English edition of the Russian scientific research journal Biokhimiya. Biokhimiya was founded by the Russian Academy of Sciences (formerly Academy of Sciences of the USSR) and the Russian Biochemical Society in 1936. Since 1956 Biokhimiya has been followed by its English translation. The Russian and English editions are now issued simultaneously. The journal includes research papers in all fields of biochemistry as well as biochemical aspects of molecular biology, bioorganic chemistry, microbiology, immunology, physiology, and biomedical sciences. The Journal publishes original articles that elucidate physical, chemical, and molecular mechanisms, which underlie basic properties of biological membranes and mediate membrane-related cellular functions. The primary topics of the Journal are membrane structure, mechanisms of membrane transport, bioenergetics and photobiology, intracellular signaling as well as membrane aspects of cell biology, immunology, and medicine. The Journal is multidisciplinary and focuses on those articles that employ a variety of experimental approaches, basically biophysical but also biochemical, cytological, and molecular biological. The Journal publishes articles that strive for unveiling membrane and cellular functions through innovative theoretical models and computer simulations.

This Journal covers all major aspects of Biomedical chemistry and related areas, including proteomics and molecular biology of (patho) physiological processes, biochemistry, neurochemistry, immunochemistry and clinical chemistry, bioinformatics, gene therapy, drug design and delivery, biochemical pharmacology, introduction and advertisement of new (biochemical) methods into experimental and clinical medicine. The Journal also publish review articles. All issues of journal usually contain invited reviews.

Biochemistry Research International is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of biochemistry.

Biochemistry and Biophysics Reports publishes original research in all aspects of Biochemistry, Biophysics and related areas like Molecular and Cell Biology. BBA Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids publishes papers on original research dealing with novel aspects of molecular genetics related to the lipidome, the biosynthesis of lipids, the role of lipids in cells and whole organisms, the regulation of lipid metabolism and function, and lipidomics in all organisms. Biochimie is a multi-topical journal, publishing original work as well as review articles and mini-reviews in all areas of biology (enzymology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, structure of macromolecules, etc.), provided that the approach adopted stems from biochemistry, biophysics or molecular biology.

Biochimie Open is a new online open access journal for author-financed manuscripts in all areas of biochemical, molecular and structural life sciences. Articles on Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Toxicology, Molecular Pharmacology and Chemical Biology are also welcome. Sound scientific and technical quality is assured by peer review, and the acceptance of articles for publication is based on these qualities rather than editors' or referees' estimates of likely future impact.

Data that are exciting though more preliminary than those acceptable to many traditional journals will be considered for publication if the editors feel that they are likely to stimulate future research.
