The Journal of Geodynamics is an international and interdisciplinary forum for the publication of results and discussions of solid earth research in geodetic, geophysical, geological and geochemical geodynamics, with special emphasis on the large scale processes involved.Papers addressing interdisciplinary aspects, analyses, results and interpretation will receive special attention. Original research papers, including 'letters', as well as topical reviews are invited on:• Earth rotation• Rheology and mineral properties of the deep earth, physical properties of rocks and their dependence on pressure, temperature and chemical composition• Upper mantle - lower mantle; lithosphere - asthenosphere• Mantle convection, hot spots and plumes, heat flow and the thermo-mechanical evolution of the earth• Plate kinematics, plate tectonics and plate dynamics, driving mechanisms• Stress field; horizontal and vertical crustal movements• Evolution of continents and oceans, including the formation and destruction of oceanic lithosphere, orogenic processes and basin evolution• Crust-mantle interaction, chemical recycling• Sea surface and ocean bottom topography, including variations of sea level• Dynamic interpretation and modelling of potential fields, including isostasy, glacial isostasy• Magma formation, differentiation, transport and emplacement, including modelling of volcanic eruptions• Dynamic consequences of natural events, including source dynamics, seismic modelling, seismo-tectonics, modelling of earthquakes, impacts• Data aquisition and analysis for geodynamics, including the use of SLR, VLBI, GPS, etc• Integrated models and non-linear processes.The emphasis lies on endogenic and also interacting exogenic processes and their geological effects in the widest sense, as well as on results obtained from geophysical, geodetic and geological measurements and analytical techniques applied to deduce them.

Journal of Geographical Systems, a journal dedicated to geographical information, analysis, theory, and decision making, aims to encourage and promote high quality scholarship on important theoretical and practical issues in regional science, geography, the environmental sciences, and planning. One of the distinctive features of the journal is its concern for the interface between mathematical modeling, geographical information sciences, and regional issues. Journal of Geophysical Research (JGR) publishes original scientific research on the physical, chemical, and biological processes that contribute to the understanding of the Earth, Sun, and solar system and all of their environments and components. JGR is currently organized into seven disciplinary sections (Atmospheres, Biogeosciences, Earth Surface, Oceans, Planets, Solid Earth, Space Physics). Sections may be added or combined in response to changes in the science.

An overview of Journal of Land Use Science by the Editor, Richard AspinallThe study of the nature of land use and land cover, their changes over space and time, and the processes that produce these patterns and changes can be termed 'land use science'. Land use science is necessarily an interdisciplinary science since land uses are influenced by, and influence, environmental, ecological, social and economic systems through a complex series of natural and socio-economic processes, including management and decision making.Land use science, therefore, adopts an integrated approach that couples natural and human systems and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration between social, economic, behavioural, environmental, ecological, biological and atmospheric scientists. The Journal of Mountain Science, started in 2004, is an international English-language journal on mountain sciences. The JMS is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), sponsored by the Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS, published by Science Press China, and distributed by Springer exclusively throughout the world (excluding Mainland China). The United Nations University (UNU) takes part in the editorial work and supports subscriptions for institutions in developing and transition countries. The Editorial Board members and reviewers are invited from different countries and regions in the world, and the JMS solicits contributions from and is distributed throughout the world. The JMS is a bimonthly journal with 6 issues a year. JMS publishes research and technical papers on mountain environment, mountain ecology, mountain hazards, mountain resources and mountain development. The Journal of Soils and Sediments (JSS) is devoted to soils and sediments; it deals with contaminated, intact and disturbed soils and sediments. JSS explores both the common aspects and the differences between these two environmental compartments. Inter-linkages at the catchment scale and with the Earth’s system (inter-compartment) are an important topic in JSS. The range of research coverage includes the effects of disturbances and contamination; research, strategies and technologies for prediction, prevention, and protection; identification and characterization; treatment, remediation and reuse; risk assessment and management; creation and implementation of quality standards; international regulation and legislation. The Journal of South American Earth Sciences provides an international medium for the publication of scientific work concerned with all aspects of the earth sciences in the South American continent and the surrounding oceans. Work is also accepted from the adjacent regions of the Caribbean, Central America and Antarctic Peninsula.Papers must have a regional appeal and should present work of more than local significance. Permafrost and Periglacial Processes is an international journal dedicated to the rapid publication of scientific and technical papers concerned with earth surface cryogenic processes, landforms and sediments present in a variety of (Sub) Arctic, Antarctic and High Mountain environments. It provides an efficient vehicle of communication amongst those with an interest in the cold, non-glacial geosciences. The focus is on (1) original research based on geomorphological, hydrological, sedimentological, geotechnical and engineering aspects of these areas and (2) original research carried out upon relict features where the objective has been to reconstruct the nature of the processes and/or palaeoenvironments which gave rise to these features, as opposed to purely stratigraphical considerations.
