Journal of Functional Biomaterials (JFB, ISSN 2079-4983) is an international and interdisciplinary scientific journal that publishes regular research papers (articles), reviews and short communications about applications of materials for biomedical use. JFB covers subjects from chemistry, pharmacy, biology, physics over to engineering. The journal focuses on the preparation, performance and use of functional biomaterials in biomedical devices and their behaviour in physiological environments. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their results in as much detail as possible. Therefore, there is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced.
This journal, originally founded in 1979, serves as a platform for academic exchange between Chinese medical researchers and their foreign colleagues. It publishes mainly articles concerning the latest advances and experiences in biomedicine and clinical medicine. The articles contained in Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) are primarily in English, with a small number of articles in German.
Journal of Materials Chemistry A, B & C cover high quality studies across all fields of materials chemistry. The journals focus on those theoretical or experimental studies that report new understanding, applications, properties and synthesis of materials. Journal of Materials Chemistry A, B & C are separated by the intended application of the material studied. Broadly, materials with potential applications in biology and medicine are of interest to Journal of Materials Chemistry B, with example topic areas including (but not limited to): antifouling coatings, biocompatible materials, bioelectronics, bioimaging, biomimetics, biomineralization, bionics, biosensors, diagnostics, drug delivery, gene delivery, immunobiology, nanomedicine, regenerative medicine & tissue engineering, scaffolds, soft robotics, stem cells, therapeutic devices. Articles that primarily focus on providing insight into the underlying science and performance of biomaterials within a biological environment are more suited to our sister journal, Biomaterials Science.
The Journal of Materials Research and Technology is a publication of ABM - Brazilian Metallurgical, Materials and Mining Association - and publishes four issues per year also with a free version online (www.jmrt.com.br). The journal provides an international medium for the publication of theoretical and experimental studies related to Metallurgy, Materials and Minerals research and technology. Appropriate submissions to the Journal of Materials Research and Technology should include scientific and/or engineering factors which affect processes and products in the Metallurgy, Materials and Mining areas. The journal does not seek or publish non technical or scientific papers or papers on case studies concerning optimization of equipments, processes and others where the technical or scientific content on the report is not heavily present. No page charges are requested from authors. The journal accepts manuscripts for publication in the following categories: Original Articles, Review Articles, Short Communications and Letters. The editorial board strongly recommends that prospective authors access the online version and analyze the published articles as a model for preparation of their papers.
The Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology (JSST) provides an international forum for the dissemination of scientific, technological, and general knowledge about materials processed by chemical nanotechnologies known as the 'sol-gel' process. The materials of interest include gels, gel-derived glasses, ceramics in form of nano- and micro-powders, bulk, fibres, thin films and coatings as well as more recent materials such as hybrid organic-inorganic materials and composites. JSST publishes original research and technological manuscripts in the form of extended reports. Occasionally, invited papers on scientific and technologically important issues in emerging fields of sol-gel materials are published as special issues. A Sol-Gel Product News section is also available for publication of short papers on products developed via chemical technology. The Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology is the Official Journal of the International Sol-Gel Society (ISGS).
This Journal is the official publication of the Indian Academy of Wood Science. It publishes on all aspects related to wood, cellulose and their products such as logging, saw milling, wood working, plywood, fibre boards, particle boards, improved and composite woods, cellulose and cellulose-based sciences and industries and allied fields generally classified as 'Wood Science'. It also includes biological sciences related to wood and wood products. The Journal aims to cover research on all aspects of Wood Science and allied fields relating to resource utilization of wood. In essence it relates to all aspects of utilization including processing, sales and marketing of wood, its products and other lignocellulosic materials both from forestry and agricultural origin. Further, the Journal aims to help and promote rational and scientific utilization of raw materials, avoiding of wastage in raw materials, development of standard products and standard techniques, evolution of uniform standardized processing methods, quality control methods, inspection methods and similar other scientific methods, applicable to the industries connected with wood and cellulose.
Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine publishes rapidly and rigorously peer-reviewed research papers, reviews, clinical case reports, perspectives, and short communications on topics relevant to the development of therapeutic approaches which combine stem or progenitor cells, biomaterials and scaffolds, growth factors and other bioactive agents, and their respective constructs. All papers should deal with research that has a direct or potential impact on the development of novel clinical approaches for the regeneration or repair of tissues and organs. The journal is multidisciplinary, covering the combination of the principles of life sciences and engineering in efforts to advance medicine and clinical strategies. The journal focuses on the use of cells, materials, and biochemical/mechanical factors in the development of biological functional substitutes that restore, maintain, or improve tissue or organ function. The journal publishes research on any tissue or organ and covers all key aspects of the field, including the development of new biomaterials and processing of scaffolds; the use of different types of cells (mainly stem and progenitor cells) and their culture in specific bioreactors; studies in relevant animal models; and clinical trials in human patients performed under strict regulatory and ethical frameworks. Manuscripts describing the use of advanced methods for the characterization of engineered tissues are also of special interest to the journal readership.
The Journal of Wood Science provides an international forum for the exchange of knowledge and the discussion of current issues in wood and wood utilization. It publishes original articles on basic and applied research dealing with the science, technology, and engineering of wood, wood components, wood and wood-based products, and wood constructions. The journal publishes review articles on selected topics concerning wood science and related fields. This is the official journal of the Japan Wood Research Society.
The Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials is concerned with the mechanical deformation, damage and failure under applied forces, of biological material (at the tissue, cellular and molecular levels) and of biomaterials, i.e. those materials which are designed to mimic or replace biological materials. The primary focus of the journal is the synthesis of materials science, biology, and medical and dental science. Reports of fundamental scientific investigations are welcome, as are articles concerned with the practical application of materials in medical devices. Both experimental and theoretical work is of interest; theoretical papers will normally include comparison of predictions with experimental data, though we recognize that this may not always be appropriate. The journal also publishes technical notes concerned with emerging experimental or theoretical techniques, letters to the editor and, by invitation, review articles and papers describing existing techniques for the benefit of an interdisciplinary readership. The journal offers online submission, a short time to publication, the opportunity for ample space to develop an argument in full, and the services of referees with expertise in mechanical behaviour and an understanding of the special nature of biomedical materials.Examples of relevant subjects include:Stress/strain/time relationships for biological materialsFracture mechanics of hard tissuesTribological properties of joint materials and their replacements, including coatingsMechanical characterisation of tissue engineering materials and scaffoldsThe mechanical behaviour of cells, including adhesionMechanical properties of biological molecules such as DNALong-term fatigue, creep and wear properties of biomaterials used in implantsThe behaviour of the human tissues under impact loadingMechanical performance of materials in plants and animalsNew techniques for the measurement of mechanical properties in biomedical materials, in both laboratory and clinical practiceComputer simulations of material behaviorClinical case histories related to material performanceMechanobiology: response of cells and tissues to biophysical stimuliThe journal publishes papers from the proceedings of the International Conference on the Mechanics of Biomaterials and Tissues; special issues devoted to particular subjects or events will also be considered.
