An interdisciplinary and international journal, Safer Communities (SC) publishes scholarly and practitioner-based research on the range of topics that constitute community safety, community justice and youth justice.
Safety Science serves as an international medium for research in the science and technology of human safety. It extends from safety of people at work to other spheres, such as transport, leisure and home, as well as every other field of man's hazardous activities.Safety Science is multidisciplinary. Its contributors and its audience range from psychologists to chemical engineers. The journal covers the domain of safety in its general sense with a special focus on the interfaces between technology, people and organizations. Papers may address the physics and engineering of safety; its social, policy and organisational aspects; the management of risks; the effectiveness of control techniques for safety; standardization, legislation, inspection, insurance, costing aspects, human behaviour and safety and the like.Safety Science will enable academic researchers, engineers and decision-makers in companies, government agencies and international bodies, to augment their information level on the latest trends in the field, from policy makers and management scientists to engineers.The journal focuses primarily on original research papers across its whole scope, but also welcomes state-of-the-art review papers and first hand case histories on accidents and disasters of special significance. The emphasis is on safety risks, as distinct from health risks, but may include both.
Safundi is a peer-reviewed quarterly academic journal that analyses the United States and South Africa from an international, transnational, and/or comparative perspective and seeks to understand each country in relation to the other. Although new comparative and transnational research forms the core of the journal, Safundi also publishes articles specifically addressing one country, provided the research is of interest to an international audience. The Editorial Board will consider submissions relating to other countries in southern Africa and the Americas, as well as to other parts of the world that allow for broader comparative insights. Articles that Safundi publishes are academic in nature. Intelligent, exploratory essays are also welcomed. We encourage interdisciplinary perspectives on a wide range of topics. The title Safundi derives from the initial letters of South Africa and America and the word fundi, which comes from the Xhosa verb, -funda, which translates as 'to read' or 'to learn'. Scandinavian Actuarial Journal is a journal for actuarial sciences that deals, in theory and application, with mathematical methods for insurance and related matters. The bounds of actuarial mathematics are determined by the area of application rather than by uniformity of methods and techniques. Therefore, a paper of interest to Scandinavian Actuarial Journal may have its theoretical basis in probability theory, statistics, operations research, numerical analysis, computer science, demography, mathematical economics, or any other area of applied mathematics; the main criterion is that the paper should be of specific relevance to actuarial applications. It is the hope of the editors that the journal can promote progress in the development of actuarial methodology and the proliferation of established methods in practical actuarial work. A special workshop section is intended to stimulate cooperative efforts between practitioners and theoreticians to solve real-life actuarial problems. The workshop will be open for papers at any level of theoretical preparation, from mere descriptions of practical problems with pleas for help, via discussions and tentative solutions, to complete theoretical treatment of these problems. The journal also publishes survey articles and has a section for empirical studies. All articles are refereed. Scandinavian Actuarial Journal has been published since 1918. It is published for the Danish Society of Actuaries, the Actuarial Society of Finland, the Norwegian Society of Actuaries and the Swedish Society of Actuaries.
Scandinavian Economic History Review publishes articles and reviews in the broad field of Nordic economic, business and social history.The journal also publishes contributions from closely related fields, such as history of technology, maritime history and history of economic thought. Articles dealing with theoretical and methodological issues are also included.The editors aim to reflect contemporary research, thinking and debate in these fields, both within Scandinavia and more widely.
