Permafrost and Periglacial Processes is an international journal dedicated to the rapid publication of scientific and technical papers concerned with earth surface cryogenic processes, landforms and sediments present in a variety of (Sub) Arctic, Antarctic and High Mountain environments. It provides an efficient vehicle of communication amongst those with an interest in the cold, non-glacial geosciences. The focus is on (1) original research based on geomorphological, hydrological, sedimentological, geotechnical and engineering aspects of these areas and (2) original research carried out upon relict features where the objective has been to reconstruct the nature of the processes and/or palaeoenvironments which gave rise to these features, as opposed to purely stratigraphical considerations. The journal also publishes short communications, reviews, discussions and book reviews. The high scientific standard, interdisciplinary character and worldwide representation of PPP are maintained by regional editorial support and a rigorous refereeing system. Theatre, Dance and Performance Training (TDPT) is a twice-yearly, peer-reviewed journal which acts as a research forum for practitioners, academics, creative artists and pedagogues interested in training in all its complexity and across cultures. The journal covers the entire transport sector including all modes: land, sea and air; public and private; motorised and non-motorised; passenger and freight, including transport in the context of related sectors such as energy, housing, industry and planning. Policy concerns in transport are wide and cover safety, efficiency, economic development, local and global environmental impacts, energy, land-use, equity and access.
Papers are welcome which advance the methods informing policy as well as those which provide an analysis of policies themselves, but papers are expected to have clear policy relevance. Papers are also welcomed which focus on understanding the nature and influences affecting policy change, including technical, attitudinal, institutional, structural and political constraints, including those which provide a comparative analysis. Papers that focus entirely on individual case studies are more appropriate for our sister journal
Types of paper:
Full articles: Articles should normally be no longer that 8000 words. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts (whether original or revised) are accurate before final submission. Manuscripts must be submitted on-line through Elsevier Editorial System (EES). Initial submissions may be submitted through the "My Paper My Way" approach, but final acceptances will require completion to the Elsevier standard.
Shorter Items: Shorter items of between 1500 and 2500 words are also welcomed. These can take the form of a Topical Issues paper which allows for the expression of reasoned opinion which may stimulate debate. Such articles should clearly signal how the debate relates to the literature and why it is topical for a significant part of the global readership. This section also welcomes reports on noteworthy developments from conferences and seminars. The editors may invite responses to such papers from other commentators. The shorter form article is not well suited to describing research projects.
Special Issues: Proposals for Special Issues are welcome. Proposals should contain a clear set of objectives, and indication of the number of papers and likely authors. All papers in Special Issues are refereed to the same standard as normal submitted papers.
Overview. A heterocyclic compound is defined as any organic compound where their molecules are characterized by rings containing at least one atom other than carbon. These compounds are structurally similar to cyclic organic hydrocarbons, but their properties can vary widely from those of their hydrocarbon counterparts and are largely governed by the identity, location and number of heteroatoms present in the molecule. It is this rich diversity of physical and biological properties that has lead to intense study of heterocyclic compounds. It follows then that Heterocyclic Chemistry is the study of all aspects of heterocyclic compounds. Heterocyclic chemistry has its origin in organic synthesis, natural products chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Indeed most any heterocyclic chemist will also consider themselves organic chemists and many will consider themselves to be natural products chemists and medicinal chemists as well. This relationship between disciplines arises because heterocyclic molecules are fundamental building blocks of biological systems. In addition to its importance to biology, heterocyclic chemistry has seen intense study in diverse areas such as dyes, photosensitizers, coordination compounds, polymeric materials and many other fields. Policies. The Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry is interested in publishing research on all aspects of Heterocyclic Chemistry. A perusal of any issue will show that the majority of manuscripts submitted are on the synthesis and properties of heterocyclic compounds. Many of those studies include a short history of the biological and commercial applications of related compounds, and often include biological screening data corresponding to newly reported compounds. This strong connection between the preparation of heterocyclic compounds and their potential benefit to humanity is both welcomed and encouraged. One will also find articles related to physical organic chemistry studies on heterocyclic compounds, mechanistic studies of reactions leading to heterocyclic compounds and studies of the photophysical properties of heterocyclic compounds, just to name a few. Heterocyclic chemistry is an ever-expanding subject where scientists regularly discover new and exciting applications for heterocyclic compounds. The Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry invites authors to submit heterocyclic chemistry research on any aspect of heterocyclic chemistry in the form of Articles, Notes, Reviews, and Communications. Articles must report the results of comprehensive research and will usually amount to more than four final printed journal pages. Shorter papers, usually classified as notes, are acceptable. Complete spectral characterization of all new compounds reported, is required for publication in the Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry. All new compounds must be subjected to combustion analysis for at least two elements (typically C and H) and values within ± 0.4 must be obtained. Notes are simply smaller articles that are concise reports of completed projects. The requirements for notes are the same as those of articles. Manuscripts submitted as articles may in some cases be accepted as notes. As for articles all new compounds must be adequately characterized by spectral data and combustion analysis. Communications to the Editor may be of any length but should report new, important and timely research for which rapid publication is warranted. We require that communications include procedures, compound preparation data and related data in sufficient detail that an experienced chemist can duplicate the work. Elemental analysis and spectral data supporting all new compounds are a requirement for publication and must be included as part of the submitted manuscript. Reviews may be exhaustive or may be short indicating only the highlights of a given area. It is wise to communicate with the editor in advance of preparation and/or submission to determine the timeliness of any given review. Authors bear the sole responsibility for the contents of manuscripts and the accuracy of the data therein.

Papers dealing with all aspects of spatial, ecological and historical biogeography are considered for publication in Journal of Biogeography. The mission of the journal is to contribute to the growth and societal relevance of the discipline of biogeography through its role in the dissemination of biogeographical research. To that end, the editorial policy is that the journal seeks to be representative of the discipline of biogeography, to be global in scope, and to be inclusive of major traditions and viewpoints within the discipline. Authors are particularly encouraged to submit concise, clearly written papers focused on precisely framed questions or hypotheses of broad interest to the wide international readership of the journal. Article formats include provocative Guest Editorials, short Commentaries and Correspondence, submissions of which are encouraged alongside standard research papers (Original Articles). The journal was established in 1991 and is published in 6 issues a year. Diversity and Distributions publishes papers on a wide range of themes relating to the study of biodiversity. The adoption, in 2005, of the subtitle A Journal of Conservation Biogeography recognises the need for a journal whose primary mission is to focus on the application of biogeographical theories and methods to conservation problems at scales from landscape up to the global. Three types of manuscripts will be considered for publication in the journal. First,instructional activities that can be conducted in either the K-12 or college classroom will be considered. Second, manuscripts focused on communication education assessment of student learning, classroom practices (K-12 or college), or program development will be considered, and third, original teaching activity with a link to assessment articles will be encouraged. Original Teaching Activities Single Class Activities. Communication educators in all contexts are invited to submit original teaching activities that can be implemented in the classroom. Teaching activities that can be used in any communication course (i.e., public speaking, hybrid, communication research methods, communication technologies, communication theory, family, gender, health, interpersonal, intercultural, mass, organizational, public relations, rhetoric, small group) are welcome. Each submission should contain the following components: (1) a brief title; (2) the course(s) for which the activity is intended; (3) the objective(s) for the activity; (4) a brief theoretical rationale for conducting the activity; (5) a description/explanation of the activity, including any preparation/preliminary steps and materials needed; (6) a debriefing paragraph, including typical results; (7) an appraisal of the activity, including any limitations or variations; and (8) references. Single Class submissions should generally contain no more than 2000 words. Unit Activities. Instructors frequently create an original teaching activity that is conducted throughout an entire class unit (e.g., Relational communication unit on "Conflict in Relationships") that spans several days or weeks. A unit activity should follow the same format as described for the single class activity, and should contain no more than 2500 words. Semester-long Activities. Original teaching activities that outline a semester-long project or approach to an entire course are also encouraged. These manuscripts should follow the same format as described for single class activity and should generally contain no more than 3000 words. Original Teaching Activity-to-Assessment Articles In many cases, original teaching activities are assessed for meeting student needs and teacher goals. With this in mind, authors may be encouraged to create a series of articles that create a link between practice and assessment. For this series, the author may submit BOTH articles simultaneously or the editor may invite the author to submit an assessment activity based on the published original teaching activity (single, unit, or semester-long). These two manuscripts should follow the same format as described for one of the three class activities and the educational assessment article (described below) with an established link between the two clearly discussed. Educational Assessment Articles Communication educators in all contexts are invited to submit original assessment research. Assessment involves systematic reflection of instructional practices and allows communication educators to monitor student learning as well as improve the quality of specific courses or overall programs. Assessment articles should be data driven. Data can be qualitative or quantitative. Assessment research provides educators an opportunity to modify their instructional practices based on the results of such studies. Each submission should contain the following components: (1) a brief title; (2) the course or program for which the assessment was conducted; (3) an abstract of no more than 100 words; (4) a brief statement of the problem and theoretical rationale; (5) the research question(s) or hypothesis(es); (6) the method for data collection; (7) the results; (8) a discussion of the implications of the results on instructional practice; and (9) references. Submissions should generally contain no more than 8,000 words.

19 is an open access, scholarly, peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary study in the long nineteenth century. Based at Birkbeck, 19’s editorial team comprises Dr Carolyn Burdett (general editor); Dr Victoria Mills (editorial responsibility for the journal’s visual content); and Dr David Gillott (assistant editor with overview of publication processes). The journal was originally conceived as a means to extend the activities of Birkbeck’s Centre for Nineteenth-Century Studies by making the high-quality, original scholarship presented at its Forum, conferences, symposia, and other events available to an international audience.
Launched in October 2005 as the first free online journal of its kind in nineteenth-century studies, 19 is a popular and valuable resource for nineteenth-century scholars across the globe. The journal has established a reputation for publishing field-defining work in both traditional and innovative ways, and it remains committed to this aim.
We publish two themed issues annually, curated by a guest editor, and consisting of a collection of peer-reviewed articles showcasing the broadest range of new research in nineteenth-century studies, as well as additional special forums advancing critical debate in the field. We seek to explore, utilize, and advance the digital possibilities of our publishing platform in presenting the nineteenth century to a wide readership.
In February 2009 19 aggregated with NINES, allowing readers to search, collect, tag, and share 19 content using the NINES collex interface. As academic publishing moves forward into the open-access future, 19 continues to innovate and pursue the highest standards in electronic scholarly publishing. In 2015, the year of the journal’s tenth anniversary, 19joined the Open Library of Humanities. The Southern African Journal of Infectious Diseases (SAJID), formerly called the Southern African Journal of Epidemiology and Infection (SAJEI), first appeared in 1985 as a joint publication of the Infectious Diseases Society of Southern Africa (IDSSA), the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Society of Southern Africa (STDSSA) and the Epidemiology Society of Southern Africa, the latter having subsequently been succeeded by the Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA). Presently SAJID is published under the auspices of the Federation of Infectious Diseases Societies of South Africa which is an umbrella organization incorporating IDSSA, STDSSA as well as the Infection Control Society of South Africa (ICASA), the National Antibiotic Study Forum (NASF) of South Africa, and the South African Society of Travel Medicine (SASTM).
Publications of SAJID centre round aspects of epidemiology and infection, particularly those of importance to the societies of FIDSSA. Topics around infection include clinical and epidemiological aspects of communicable diseases, laboratory diagnosis of infections, characterisation of infective agents by molecular techniques and the study of transmission patterns of pathogens in institutional and community settings. Other infection related studies cover surveillance of vaccine-controllable and other infectious diseases, drug susceptibility patterns of hospital-acquired and community-acquired pathogens and infection control strategies for the southern Africa region. SAJID also promotes greater collaboration between clinically oriented and laboratory-based divisions within the FIDSSA societies, and the establishment of quality assurance programmes and other measures to enhance and maintain standards of diagnostic and public health microbiology.
Scientific papers in the SAJID aim to advance the understanding of all aspects of epidemiology, public health, clinical microbiology and infection. The journal strives to promote research and exchange of information on specific areas of infectious diseases, medical microbiology and virology, covering fields of interest of the societies of FIDSSA and PHASA. Manuscripts describing research performed at southern African institutions and in southern African settings enjoy a high priority, as do health matters covering Africa and the developing world, as well as global issues such as malaria and other tropical diseases, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS. The scope of interest of SAJID is wide but the journal aims to maintain and improve the standard of its publications.
The SAJID’s subscribes to the Uniform Requirements of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) (www. icmje.org). which state the ethical principles in the conduct and reporting of research and provide recommendations relating to specific elements of editing and writing.
Ethics
The SAJID abides by the high ethical standards of the Commission on Public Ethics (COPE) (www.publicationethics.org) and ICMJE. Falsification or fabrication of data, plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the author’s own work without proper citation, and misappropriation of the work are unacceptable practices.
Originality
SAJID will not publish manuscripts that overlap substantially with articles already published or accepted for publication, whether in print or the electronic media, even if the new submission contains data not included in the published or accepted work. This policy does not preclude consideration of a report that follows a presentation at a meeting/conference or expands preliminary findings published or presented as an abstract. Submissions for republication of articles must be accompanied by a statement that the article is republished with the knowledge of the author and Editor and the permission of the original copyright holder.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism, including duplicate publication of the author’s own work, in whole or in part without proper citation, will not be tolerated by the SAJID. If an attempt at undisclosed duplicate publication is identified, the article will be rejected, the owners of the copyright notified and the violation may be reported to FIDSSA or PHASA.
Operations Research Letters is a publication for literature on all aspects of operations research and the management and decision sciences. Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics: Aims & ScopesTheoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics' aims & scopes have been re-designed to cover both the theoretical, applied, and numerical aspects associated with those cracking related phenomena taking place, at a micro-, meso-, and macroscopic level, in materials/components/structures of any kind.The journal aims to cover the cracking/mechanical behaviour of materials/components/structures in those situations involving both time-independent and time-dependent system of external forces/moments (such as, for instance, quasi-static, impulsive, impact, blasting, creep, contact, and fatigue loading). Since, under the above circumstances, the mechanical behaviour of cracked materials/components/structures is also affected by the environmental conditions, the journal would consider also those theoretical/experimental research works investigating the effect of external variables such as, for instance, the effect of corrosive environments as well as of high/low-temperature. The journal will also consider technical articles assessing the cracking behaviour of new materials used in modern and alternative applications, i.e., not only strictly related to engineering. Further, the most advanced technological findings in the surface engineering field are seen to strongly influence the cracking/mechanical behaviour of materials. Accordingly, technical articles investigating, both from a theoretical and an experimental point of view, the existing interactions between the above aspects and the material cracking behaviour will be considered for publication.The modelling of the phenomena of interest for the Journal can be based on the conventional linear-elastic/elasto-plastic Fracture Mechanics concepts as well as on novel (or emerging) theories. The journal is keen to publish new/alternative modelling/design approaches, provided that such innovative theories are soundly based on the state-of-the-art knowledge and, when possible, validated through appropriate experimental results.In more general terms, cracks act as stress/strain concentrators. Accordingly, the Journal is very keen to consider for publication also those studies investigating the effect on the mechanical behaviour of materials/components/structures of different kinds of stress/strain concentrators such as defects, microstructural in-homogeneities, and, above all, notches of any kind. In more detail, one of the new features of Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics is releasing regular issues addressing, in a systematic way, the notch mechanics problem. In this setting, as for those studies involving cracks, such special issues will consider not only conventional, but also innovative materials subjected to both time-independent and time-dependent loading.The increasing computational power of modern computers is strongly encouraging the scientific community to develop novel methodologies suitable for modelling the mechanical behaviour of materials/components/structures containing any kind of stress/strain concentrators (i.e., not only cracks and notches, but also defects and microstructural in-homogeneities). Accordingly, Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics aims to publish, through regular issues fully focussed on computational mechanics, also those technical articles addressing the theoretical/computational aspects leading to an efficient and accurate modelling of the behaviour, at a micro-, meso-, and macroscopic level, of materials and structures containing stress/strain raisers of any kind.In light of the new aims and scopes characterising Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, the journal will be organised according to the following topical issues:Miscellany of technical articles fully meeting the aims and scopes of the journal;Technical articles investigating the notch mechanics field;Technical articles devoted to the computational mechanics aspects;Themed threads, guest-edited by experts, where the themes of interest could not necessarily be addressed in a single issue: this would create a string of issues showing, over years, the progresses made in a specific area of the Fracture/Notch/Computational Mechanics discipline.The themed threads will be guest-edited not only by the Members of the Editorial Board, but also, as mentioned above, by leading experts. In this setting, the Editorial Boards is interested in considering possible topics directly suggested by leading experts also willing to act as guest-editors. Finally, the Journal will consider the publication of special issues containing the extended version of high-level papers presented at prominent international conferences.However, authors submitting papers of an experimental nature should include raw data with their submissions in order to support the findings being presented.
