Much of the most important learning happens through social interaction. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is an international journal devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning.Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. In-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings will be welcome, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. Longitudinal studies of learning trajectories are relevant as are analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning. The important point is that the relationships between cultures, social interaction and learners (and teachers) are in focus.The term 'interaction' includes forms of communication which take place through technologies of various kinds (telephone, the Internet, presentation technologies and so on). Interaction between people and artefacts, insofar as they address learning, are also relevant. Thus, the focus is not exclusively on face-to-face interaction. Also, issues of collective forms of learning characterizing systematic change, institutional development and communities of practice are central for the journal.The journal is multidisciplinary and invites scholars from relevant disciplines including psychology, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, communication studies and all areas of educational research. Data may come from ethnographies, experimental approaches, intervention studies, case studies, interviews, questionnaires, self-reports, cross-cultural comparisons, archives etc. Articles of different kinds will be welcome: reports of empirical research, theoretically orientated analyses, contributions to method, literature reviews, meta-analyses of research etc. There will be no restrictions when it comes to age levels or social settings. A strong expectation will be that authors write clearly and accessibly for an international and multidisciplinary audience.

Quaternary Geochronology is an international journal devoted to the publication of the highest-quality, peer-reviewed articles on all aspects of dating methods applicable to the Quaternary Period - the last 2.6 million years of Earth history. Reliable ages are fundamental to place changes in climates, landscapes, flora and fauna - including the evolution and ecological impact of humans - in their correct temporal sequence, and to understand the tempo and mode of geological and biological processes. There is growing scientific appreciation of the complexity of the Quaternary Period. This has increased the demand on geochronological techniques to deliver increasingly more accurate and precise ages, which underpin attempts to determine the causes and consequences of events at a variety of temporal and spatial scales.Some Quaternary dating methods are well established, while others are in the early stages of development. Schizophrenia Bulletin seeks to review recent developments and empirically based hypotheses regarding the etiology and treatment of schizophrenia. We view the field as broad and deep, and will publish new knowledge ranging from the molecular basis to social and cultural factors. We will give new emphasis to translational reports which simultaneously highlight basic neurobiological mechanisms and clinical manifestations. Much of the Bulletin content will be invited reviews and manuscripts organized as a theme by special guest editors. Also, the Bulletin will carry unsolicited manuscripts of high quality that report original data related to theme issues or where the Bulletin can provide a special venue for a major study.The editorial policy of the Schizophrenia Bulletin generally follows the Uniform Requirements guidelines articulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (http://www.icmje.org). The journal is published bi-monthly serving readership and contributors from the USA and internationally. Each issue of the Bulletin will be based on a major review and/or one or more themes comprised of 2-5 Reviews Articles covering clinical and basic scientific aspects of the theme area of the issue. Topics for future issues will be announced ahead of time and Original Reports related to the themes will be accepted for review. Some theme issues will be based on workshops and meeting symposia.We consider the Bulletin to be an ideal venue for special reports such as treatment guidelines or the presentation of translational science. Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal. It publishes original research papers, short communications, state-of-the-art mini-reviews, letters to the editor, clinical-case studies, announcements of pertinent international meetings, and editorials.
The journal covers a broad spectrum and brings together various disciplines, for example, zoology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, mathematical modelling, veterinary and human medicine. Multidisciplinary approaches and the use of conventional and novel methods/methodologies (in the field and in the laboratory) are crucial for deeper understanding of the natural processes and human behaviour/activities that result in human or animal diseases and in economic effects of ticks and tick-borne pathogens. Tick-borne pathogens: viruses, bacteria, and parasites, their biology in ticks and vertebrates, pathogen-tick and pathogen-host interactions on the molecular and cellular levels, transmission, coinfection, genomics/proteomics, and biosystematics/taxonomy

Tick-borne diseases in domestic animals and wildlife: epidemiology, diagnosis, immunology, treatment, vaccination, control/management, and economics

Tick-borne human diseases: epidemiology, diagnosis, immunology, treatment, vaccination, socioeconomics, and public health

In addition, methodological papers on all these areas will be published as well as timely reviews on vectors and vector-borne diseases in which tick biology or tick-borne diseases are addressed.

Veterinary Microbiology is concerned with microbial (bacterial, fungal, viral) diseases of domesticated animals (livestock, companion animals, fur-bearing animals, game, poultry, fish) that supply food, other useful products or companionship. In addition, Microbial diseases of wild animals living in captivity, or as members of the feral fauna will also be considered if the infections are of interest because of their interrelation with humans (zoonoses) and/or domestic animals. Studies of antimicrobial resistance are also included.Original research papers of high quality and novelty on aspects of control, host response, molecular biology, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of microbial diseases of animals are published. Papers dealing primarily with immunology or epidemiology will only be considered if they demonstrate a clear impact on the pathogenesis of a disease. The same applies to papers on antiviral and antimicrobial agents. Papers focussing solely on diagnostic techniques (such as another PCR protocol or ELISA) will not be published - focus should be on a microorganism and not on a particular technique.Drug trial papers will be considered if they have general application or significance. Papers on the identification of microorganisms will also be considered, but detailed taxonomic studies do not fall within the scope of the journal. Case reports will not be published, unless they have general application or contain novel aspects. Papers of geographically limited interest, which repeat what had been established elsewhere will not be considered. The readership of the journal is global. The Editors reserve the right to suggest submission to another journal for those papers which they feel would be more appropriate for consideration by that journal.Papers will be rejected if standards of care of, or procedures performed on, animals are not up to those expected of humane veterinary scientists. At a minimum, standards must meet the International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research involving Animals, as issued by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences. Psychology & Sexuality is an important new international journal which publishes high-quality quantitative and qualitative psychological research on sexualities. The journal aims to advance knowledge and understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, heterosexual and queer issues in psychology and allied disciplines. Psychology & Sexuality is progressive and radical with regard to current debates in critical psychology, while also drawing from work traditionally seen as outside the remit of psychology to inform debate.
