BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH (former title, "Archivos de Biología y Medicina Experimentales") is the official journal of the Chilean Biology Society. This journal, founded in 1964 and renamed in 1992, is a quarterly publication that covers the broad spectrum of experimental biological research.BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH is an open access journal which publishes original articles and invited reviews in the diverse fields of experimental biology such as biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, genomics, immunology, marine biology, molecular biology, plant biology, physiology, and systems biology. Upon special requests to the Editor, manuscripts outside of these fields may also be considered for publication, Manuscripts should be presented as full-length papers, short communications, or review articles (invited by the editors).In an attempt to continually improve the impact and competitively of this journal, manuscripts will receive immediate attention upon their arrival. The entire editorial board of Biological Research is committed to processing manuscripts rapidly. Submitted manuscripts will be critically refereed by at least two independent reviewers who are either members of the Editorial Board or ad hoc referees. Reviewers, experts in the area to which the manuscript pertains, will critically analyze the manuscript in a timely manner. Acceptance is based upon scientific content, originality and presentation of the material. Accepted manuscripts will be published within 3 months of their final approval date.The official abbreviation of Biological Research is Biol Res., and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips. .

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry publishes studies that contribute to an understanding of the relationship between molecular structure and biological activity or mode of action.

Some specific areas that are appropriate include the following:

• Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel biologically active compounds, diagnostic agents, or labeled ligands employed as pharmacological tools.
• Molecular modifications of reported series that lead to a significantly improved understanding of their structure-activity relationships (SAR). Routine extensions of existing series that do not utilize novel chemical or biological approaches or do not add significantly to a basic understanding of the SAR of the series will normally not be accepted for publication.
• Structural biological studies (X-ray, NMR, etc.) of relevant ligands and targets with the aim of investigating molecular recognition processes in the action of biologically active compounds.
• Molecular biological studies (e.g., site-directed mutagenesis) of macromolecular targets that lead to an improved understanding of molecular recognition.
• Computational studies that provide fresh insight into the SAR of compound series that are of current general interest or analysis of other available data that subsequently advance medicinal chemistry knowledge.
• Substantially novel computational chemistry methods with demonstrated value for the identification, optimization, or target interaction analysis of bioactive molecules.
• Effect of molecular structure on the distribution, pharmacokinetics, and metabolic transformation of biologically active compounds. This may include design, synthesis, and evaluation of novel types of prodrugs.
• Novel methodology with broad application to medicinal chemistry, but only if the methods have been tested on relevant molecules.

Photon Science is a highly interdisciplinary open access journal focusing on, but not limited to, scientific studies of chemical transformation and energy materials based on photon, electron, and neutron facilities. The word "photon" here is representative of particles in modern scientific facilities.Photon Science also reports breakthroughs in instrumentation, methodology, and big-data research with demonstrations or potential for chemistry and material science.

Photon Science welcomes submissions on topics such as, but not limited to:

• Chemical and material science based on modern particle facilities including synchrotron radiation, free-electron laser, high-power ultrafast laser, electron, and neutron sources.
• Fundamental photon science for understanding photon-matter, electron-matter, and neutron-matter interactions for studying structural, chemical, and physical properties in both experimental and theoretical disciplines.
• Energy research based on photon science, including catalysis, batteries, fuel cells, and photovoltaics.
• Technological material research based on photon science, including lithography, semiconductors, magnetic, multiferroic, organic, and extreme-condition materials.
• Life science research based on photon science, including structures of subcellular structures, living cells and tissues, as well as their interactions and functions.
• Materials and devices for photon science applications, including photonics, plasmonics, nonlinear optics, quantum optics, optoelectronics, detectors, and sensors.
• Instrumentation developments, demonstrations, and milestones of large photon, electron, and neutron science facilities.
• Methodology for processing and analyzing photon science data, including real-time big data processing, database, autonomous experiments, theoretical calculations, computing simulations, and machine learning algorithms.

Photon Science is an open access journal. APCs for publication will be waived for all manuscripts accepted before Dec 31, 2027 after robust peer review.

Psychological Bulletin® publishes evaluative and integrative research reviews and interpretations of issues in scientific psychology. Both qualitative (narrative) and quantitative (meta-analytic) reviews will be considered, depending on the nature of the database under consideration for review.Integrative reviews or research syntheses focus on empirical studies and seek to summarize past research by drawing overall conclusions from many separate investigations that address related or identical hypotheses. A research synthesis typically presents the authors' assessments of * the state of knowledge concerning the relations of interest; * critical assessments of the strengths and weaknesses in past research; and * important issues that research has left unresolved, thereby directing future research so it can yield a maximum amount of new information.Both cumulative and historical approaches (i.e., ones that organize a research literature by highlighting temporally unfolding developments in a field) can be used. Integrative research reviews that develop connections between areas of research are particularly valuable.Manuscripts dealing with topics at the interface of psychological sciences and society are welcome, as are evaluations of applied psychological therapies, programs, and interventions. Expository articles may be published if they are deemed accurate, broad, clear, and pertinent.Methodological articles that previously were submitted to Psychological Bulletin should now be submitted to Psychological Methods. Original theoretical articles should be submitted to Psychological Review, even when they include summaries of research. Research syntheses should be submitted to Psychological Bulletin even when they develop integrated theoretical statements.

Critical Arts Call for PapersOf the early issues dating from 1980 Ntongela Masilela observed that Critical Arts was coterminous with the awakening of the historical consciousness that the practice of cultural studies could facilitate in securing the demise of apartheid. He concluded that 8220;This monumental undertaking is evident on practically every page of Critical Arts8221;. Seminal authors who lent their intellectual labour to the early Critical Arts Project included JM Coetzee, Nadine Gordimer, Andre Brink and later Stuart Hall, Tom O'Regan, Ian Ang and Handel Kashope Wright, amongst many others. Masilela continued, 8220;On the eve of the fall of apartheid these and other scholars were engaging 8220;with the intersection of Marxism, race, representation and feminism in an attempt to create new epistemologies8221; (in Denzin, N. Cultural Studies: A Research Volume, Vol 5, 2000). Ioan Davies wrote in Border/lines (1985/6), 8220;Critical Arts's nervousness about what stance would be appropriate to coming to terms with culture in Africa seems to be perfectly in tune with anyone's nervousness with coming to terms with Africa8221;. The early contributions can be accessed via the Michigan State University eJournals project: http://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/africanjournals/Critical Arts examined the relationship between texts and contexts, cultural formations and popular forms of expression, mainly in the Third World. After 1994, Critical Arts repositioned itself in the South-North nexus, developing the transdisciplinary epistemologies mentioned by Masilela, but now in conjunction with globally seminal scholars and transnational conceptual trajectories, again with the nervousness identified by Davies. Critical Arts interprets cultural studies as a form of praxis, of experience, and of strategic intervention. How does one explain the contradictions, the opposing ir/rationalities, the fracturing of logics which so brutally feed political solidarities at any cost? The exigencies of being under fire make it hard to find the discursive space in which participants can catch enough breath to speak the truths of their own participation. Our journal seeks to profile those approaches to issues that are amenable to a cultural studies-derived intervention, on the basis that `culture' is a marker of deeper continuities than the immediate conflicts under the fire of which so many must somehow live their lives. They must, perhaps, restore the vision of earlier theorists and historians, for whom `culture' was a kind of synthesis arising from the contradictions between human society and the politics of nations. Under the pressures of globalization, this kind of understanding becomes more relevant at every turn.The journal is rigorously peer reviewed and aims to shape theory on the topics it covers. Cutting edge theorisation (supported by empirical evidence) rather than the reporting of formulaic case studies are preferred as submissions. Psyecology, Bilingual Journal of Environmental Psychology, publishes multidisciplinary papers in the field of Environmental Psychology in both English and Spanish.

Accepted manuscripts include empirical research and intervention projects that focus on the interaction between people and their environment, and all aspects involved in this relationship: psychological processes, individual and social activity, and cultural mediation. Theoretical reviews will also be considered for publication according to originality and current relevance.

Subjects of interest for Psyecology include environmental representation and cognition, environment assessment and intervention, quality of life and environment, environmental participation and education, ecological behaviour, cognitive maps, place attachment, symbolic space and social identity processes, environmental attitudes and beliefs, space design, institutional and working environments, health and environment, environmental stress, noise, crowding, dangerous environments and fear of crime, risk perception, psychosocial aspects of environmental impact, conservation and management of natural resources, landscape perception, research methods specific of the aforementioned fields, and ultimately, all research focused on the relation between human activity and the environment.

Psyecology will be of interest to researchers from a wide number of disciplines focused on the interaction between people and the environment, such as psychology, education, biology, environmental sciences, architecture, design, sociology, anthropology, political science, geography, history, urban planning, etcetera.

2.       Professional discussions. TCN publishes both invited and unsolicited papers that contribute to the journal’s over-arching goal of establishing (and raising) standards of practice.  These include the following: 

• practice guidelines, consensus statements, and position papers that guide clinicians and clinical educators
• invited opinions, commentaries, or discussions
• book reviews (solicited by the Book Review section editor)

3.       Case studies. The Grand Rounds in Clinical Neuropsychology section of the journal is devoted to single case study presentations of interesting, timely, important, or unusual cases. Cases should be instructive and focus on the contributions that competent neuropsychological assessment make in terms of (a) elucidating brain-behavior relationships, (b) determining the functional status of patients, and (c) instructing intervention, treatment, rehabilitation, education, etc.  Essential elements of a case study submission include the following:

• a well-documented history of the patient
• medical/neurologic/psychiatric findings, and neuroimaging (preferred, but not required )
• detailed results of neuropsychological evaluation
• discussion of differential diagnosis and relevent treatment/management considerations

The central intention of Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBDs) is to contribute to readers' understanding of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and also their knowledge of appropriate ways of preventing and responding to EBDs, in terms of intervention and policy.The journal aims to cater for a wide audience, in response to the diverse nature of the professionals who work with and for children with EBDs.This audience includes:Teachers in mainstream, non-mainstream and special schools/facilities. Social workers in residential and field settings. Professionals concerned with EBDs in medical and psychiatric settings. Educational and clinical psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists. Those concerned with the training and support of workers in the above groups, such as teacher and social work trainers, consultants and advisers. Researchers and academics concerned with the needs and interests of the above groups. Professionals from the above groups engaged in in-service training as part of their professional development, including those pursuing award bearing courses. Debatte: Journal of Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe seeks to provide a radical critical analysis that is sympathetic to democratic, labour, feminist and ecologist movements from contemporary economic, social, cultural and political perspectives and developments in the region bounded by Germany in the west and Russia in the east. We are particularly interested in all writing on the social, cultural, and political life of Germany and Eastern Europe which connects the specific problems of the region with the wider issues of world order, globalisation, and inequality.We are looking to combine political commitment, academic rigour, contemporary relevance, stylistic accessibility, and journalistic flair in order to create the kind of publication that straddles the boundaries between academia and social/political debate; addressing itself equally to specialist scholars in the field of Central European Studies, political activists, journalists, teachers, and other interested readers. Optimization Methods and Software publishes refereed papers on the latest developments in the theory and realization of optimization methods, with particular emphasis on the interface between software development and algorithm design. Topics include: * Theory, implementation and performance evaluation of algorithms and computer codes for linear, nonlinear, discrete, stochastic optimization and optimal control. This includes in particular conic, semi-definite, mixed integer, network, non-smooth, multi-objective and global optimization by deterministic or nondeterministic algorithms. * Algorithms and software for complementarity, variational inequalities and equilibrium problems, and also for solving inverse problems, systems of nonlinear equations and the numerical study of parameter dependent operators. * Various aspects of efficient and user-friendly implementations: e.g. automatic differentiation, massively parallel optimization, distributed computing, on-line algorithms, error sensitivity and validity analysis, problem scaling, stopping criteria and symbolic numeric interfaces. * Theoretical studies with a clear potential for applicability, as well as successful applications of optimization methods and software in specific areas such as engineering, machine learning, data mining, economics, finance, biology, or medicine. This magazine provides a journal-quality evaluation and review of Internet-based computer applications and enabling technologies. It also provides a source of information as well as a forum for both users and developers. The focus of the magazine is on Internet services using WWW, agents, and similar technologies. This does not include traditional software concerns such as object-oriented or structured programming, or Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) or Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) standards. The magazine may, however, treat the intersection of these software technologies with the Web or agents. For instance, the linking of ORBs and Web servers or the conversion of KQML messages to object requests are relevant technologies for this magazine. An article strictly about CORBA would not be. This magazine is not focused on intelligent systems. Techniques for encoding knowledge or breakthroughs in neural net technologies are outside its scope, as would be an article on the efficacy of a particular expert system. Internet Computing focuses on technologies and applications that allow practitioners to leverage off services to be found on the Internet. Agents are one technology for doing so, independent of claims about intelligence. In fact, most of the useful agent technology being deployed on the Internet is distinct from the multi-user agent technology developed in the AI world. The latter typically focuses on architectures supporting beliefs, intentions, and other human-like characteristics. Such characteristics are typically not relevant to Internet agents. More important are system engineering issues such as Internet mobility, shared protocols, ontologies, registration, and routing. Network software and hardware per se are not in the scope of this magazine. On the other hand, hardware that permits faster execution of a specific Web technology, such as Java chips, would be covered.

The Journal of Ecotourism seeks to advance the field by examining the social, economic, and ecological aspects of ecotourism at a number of scales, and including regions from around the world. Journal of Ecotourism welcomes conceptual, theoretical, and empirical research, particularly where it contributes to the dissemination of new ideas and models of ecotourism planning, development, management, and good practice. While the focus of the journal rests on a type of tourism based principally on natural history - along with other associated features of the man-land nexus - it will consider papers which investigate ecotourism as part of a broader nature based tourism, as well as those works which compare or contrast ecotourism/ists with other forms of tourism/ists. Other topics for consideration include (but are not restricted to): community development, human ecology, ecotourism typologies, parks and protected areas, impacts, policy, accreditation and certification, risk management, marketing, ethics and philosophy, interpretation, and education. Aquatic Toxicology publishes original scientific papers dealing with the mechanisms of toxicity and the responses to toxic agents in aquatic environments at the community, species, tissue, cellular, subcellular and molecular levels, including aspects of uptake, metabolism and excretion of toxicants.The aim of the journal is to increase our understanding of the impact of toxicants on aquatic organisms and ecosystems. Studies with aquatic model systems that provide fundamental mechanistic insight to toxic effects on organisms in general are also welcome. Both laboratory and field studies will be considered. The mechanistic focus includes genetic disturbances and adaptations to environmental perturbations, including the evolution of toxicant responses; biochemical, physiological and behavioural responses of organisms to toxicants; interactions of genetic and functional responses, and interactions between natural and toxicant-induced environmental changes. The bioaccumulation of contaminants is considered when studies address mechanisms influencing accumulation. Ecological investigations that address reasons, possibly also considering their genetic and physiological aspects, for toxicant-induced alterations of aquatic communities or populations are suitable.Reports on technique development or monitoring efforts are generally not within the scope of Aquatic Toxicology, except those concerning new methodologies for mechanistic research with an example of their application. Identification of toxicants or toxicologically relevant molecules in organisms will be considered only if the identification is a part of a more comprehensive mechanistic study. Whenever possible, information of exposure should be based on measured concentrations and not nominal or assumed ones. Manuscripts reporting acute toxicity data (lethal concentration, LC-50 or lethal dose, LD-50) as a major finding are usually not considered.
