Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts publishes high quality papers in all areas of the environmental chemical sciences, including chemistry of the air, water, soil and sediment. We welcome studies on the environmental fate and effects of anthropogenic and naturally occurring contaminants, both chemical and microbiological, as well as related natural element cycling processes. Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts strongly prefers significant contributions whose results can be generalised to other systems, especially studies that characterise chemical processes (e.g. chemical and (micro)biological transformations and transport) as well as those that address contaminant impacts on ecosystems and human health. We also welcome high impact field studies, particularly those that are broad enough to define occurrence baselines or long term trends, identify new contaminants, or those that enrich our molecular-level understanding of environmental systems. Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts also invites papers that bridge between environmental chemistry and sustainability topics, such as life cycle assessment, materials flow analysis, and environmental decision making.

Since the scope is large, contributions should be of the highest quality. Some will convey important recommendations for environmental management and governance. Contributions that expand existing methodology in image analysis, spatial statistics and logic are welcome. We encourage 'Discussion' articles that stimulate dialogue between earth observation studies and managers in a statistically sound way and 'Review' articles that provide an overview of scientific developments in a particular scientific domain in recent years.

Papers addressing these topics in the context of the social fabric and economic constraints of developing countries are particularly welcome.

The journal is the successor of the former ITC Journal, and has been published by Elsevier since 2002.

The Journal of Environmental Radioactivity provides a coherent international forum for publication of original research or review papers on any aspect of the occurrence of radioactivity in natural systems.Relevant subject areas range from applications of environmental radionuclides as mechanistic or timescale tracers of natural processes to assessments of the radioecological or radiological effects of ambient radioactivity. Papers deal with naturally occurring nuclides or with those created and released by man through nuclear weapons manufacture and testing, energy production, fuel-cycle technology, etc. Reports on radioactivity in the oceans, sediments, rivers, lakes, groundwaters, soils, atmosphere and all divisions of the biosphere are welcomed, but these should not simply be of a monitoring nature unless the data are particularly innovative.Research papers are also included which, by either experimental or theoretical approaches, aim towards an improved understanding of the behaviour, transfer and distribution of environmental radionuclides. Predictive modelling is particularly encouraged. Papers on dating methods are acceptable if they have clear geophysical or geochemical significance. Descriptions of experimental methods should be both highly original and specifically related to determination of low-level environmental activities.The journal provides a vehicle for objective, open and peer-reviewed publication and discussion of the more controversial aspects of environmental radioactivity, including assessments of health effects, criteria for discharge control and options for ultimate disposal of nuclear wastes.Publication in this field is also encouraged in the related book series Radioactivity in the Environment designed to complement the coverage of the journal.

JASC is the official journal of the American Society of Cytopathology, and will reflect the values and priorities of the society. In 2012 and 2013, JASC will consist of special supplemental issues with the annual scientific meeting abstracts of the American Society of Cytopathology. Beginning in 2014, JASC will publish its regular bimonthly issues with cutting-edge original research of the highest standard. The Journal will seek to provide an exceptional forum for interaction and dissemination of original research and educational information in the field of cytopathology and other allied disciplines in medicine. The cross-disciplinary focus of the journal will ensure sharing of information with all readers involved in the practice of cytopathology and its related basic sciences, epidemiology and clinical oncologic disciplines.JASC will endeavor to have a positive impact not only on all aspects of cancer diagnosis and treatment, but also on other human disease. JASC will lead the discipline of cytopathology by setting professional quality standards ensuring diagnostic excellence, advocating laboratory safety and quality, and inter-professional education for pathologists, cytotechnologists and all allied health care specialties. It will duly address and highlight issues relating to population health and public policy topics.

The aim of Series A is to publish papers that demonstrate how statistical thinking, design and analyses play a vital role in all walks of life and benefit society in general. There is no restriction on subject-matter: any interesting, topical and revelatory applications of statistics are welcome. For example, important applications of statistical methods in medicine, business and commerce, industry, economics and finance, education and teaching, physical and biomedical sciences, the environment, the law, government and politics, demography, psychology, sociology and sport all fall within the journal's remit. The journal is therefore aimed at a wide statistical audience and at professional statisticians in particular. Its emphasis is on well-written and clearly reasoned quantitative approaches to problems in the real world rather than the exposition of technical detail. Thus, although the methodological basis of papers must be sound and adequately explained, methodology per se should not be the main focus of a Series A paper. Of particular interest are papers on topical or contentious statistical issues, papers which give reviews or exposes of current statistical concerns and papers which demonstrate how appropriate statistical thinking has contributed to our understanding of important substantive questions. Historical, professional and biographical contributions are also welcome as are discussions of methods of data collection and of ethical issues, provided that all such papers have substantial statistical relevance. The focus of Transportation Research: Part C is high-quality, scholarly research that addresses development, applications, and implications, in the field of transportation, of emerging technologies from such fields as operations research, computer science, electronics, control systems, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications, among others. The interest is not in the individual technologies or methodologies per se, but in their ultimate implications for the planning, design, operation, control, management, maintenance and rehabilitation of transportation systems, services and components.Of particular interest are the impacts of emerging technologies on transportation system performance, in terms of level of service, capacity, safety, reliability, resource consumption and the environment, economics and finance, privacy, standards, and liability. The Annals of Human Genetics is an international journal publishing rigorously peer-reviewed research. The principal aim of the Annals is to increase understanding of the biology of human variation, both in disease and in health. In recent years it has become apparent that the study of population genetics is extremely relevant to molecular pathology. The interaction of these fields can greatly increase our understanding of the generation and maintenance of variation in the human genome. The major topics covered in the Annals include:- Human genome variation - its evolution and implications for human biology. Interpretations of the current or future state of the human genome sequence are also welcomed. Human population genetics - including studies which elucidate human history, our understanding of chromosome evolution, and the geographic distribution of particular diseases, worldwide. The journal will also consider studies on primate populations. Statistical genetics - the application and improvement of mathematical approaches for analysis of genetic data, including linkage and association mapping of genes and QTLs. The journal also welcomes papers focussing on more general bioinformatic approaches. Genetics of common multifactorial diseases and other complex traits and QTLs - in general we expect these to be human but relevant animal models will also be considered. Mendelian disorders and their molecular pathology - the emphasis will again be on human disease but animal models or in vitro work may also be considered. In each of these areas we welcome high quality articles providing original data and/or analysis, and also methodological papers, preferably including application to real data. Large datasets and additional material can be stored and made easily available through the journal web site. An absolute requirement of all papers will be that a general reader of the journal can understand from the summary of the paper what problem the authors are trying to solve. Most articles published will be full-length research papers, and in each issue we aim to have at least one review article. Reviews are generally invited, but suggestions are very welcome and preliminary enquiries should be directed to the Reviews Editor, Steve Humphries.
