Today's mining of mineral resources faces the challenges related to the more complex extraction conditions, e.g. great depths, natural hazards, environmental restrictions, which all increase the production costs. This is the reason why a novel approach towards the mining sector focuses on the development of environment friendly, clean technologies of minerals extraction and processing. In this respect much attention is given to the development of Clean Coal Technologies addressing also the increasing demand for energy carriers and the challenges concerning the emission limits in mining and energy sector. Therefore, the papers related to the application of the innovative Clean Coal Technologies, like coal gasification in surface and underground reactors, co-gasification of coal with biomass and waste materials, highly efficient combustion, hydrogenation, polygeneration as well as novel catalysts and thermodynamic aspects of thermochemical conversion of solid fuels are also welcome.

Many environmental issues are an inseparable part of any kind of mining activity and influence overall economic system of mining industry. Sustainable management of environment in any way affected by mining activity has crucial influence on a matter of national environmental significance in countries where mining of fossil fuels and valuable minerals is under development. That is why Journal of Sustainable Mining covers also topics related to Environmental Protection at Industrial Areas; Safe waste disposal and Post-mining land reclamation including recently raised problems caused by NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials) that are inherent in exploitations of many kinds of natural resources.

AIMSSoil Biology & Biochemistry publishes original, scientifically challenging research articles of international significance that describe and explain biological processes occurring in soil. These include the possible applications of such knowledge to issues of soil and environmental quality - insofar as such studies inform our understanding of the role of soil biology and biochemistry in mediating soil functions, agricultural sustainability and ecosystem services. The ecology and biochemical processes of soil organisms, their effects on the environment and their interactions with plants are major topics. The applications of new molecular, microscopic and analytical techniques to understanding and explaining population and community dynamics is of great interest. Animal Science Journal (a continuation of Animal Science and Technology) is the official journal of the Japanese Society of Animal Science (JSAS) and publishes Original Research Articles (full papers and rapid communications) in English in all fi elds of animal and poultry science: genetics and breeding, genetic engineering, reproduction, embryo manipulation, nutrition, feeds and feeding, physiology, anatomy, environment and behavior, animal products (milk, meat, eggs and their by-products) and their processing, and livestock economics. Boreas has been published since 1972. Articles of wide international interest from all branches of Quaternary research are published. Cognitive Linguistics presents a forum for linguistic research of all kinds on the interaction between language and cognition. The journal focuses on language as an instrument for organizing, processing and conveying information. It is devoted to high-quality research on topics such as: the structural characteristics of natural language categorization (such as prototypicality, cognitive models, metaphor, and imagery); the functional principles of linguistic organization (such as iconicity); the conceptual interface between syntax and semantics; the relationship between language and thought, including matters of universality and language specificity; and the experiential background of language-in-use, including the cultural background, the discourse context, and the psychological environment of linguistic performance. Cognitive Linguistics is a peer-reviewed journal of international scope.

The journal is a translation of Sibirskiy Ekologicheskiy Zhurnal (Siberian Journal of Ecology), which was launched in 1994. It is a multidisciplinary periodical which publishes original work on the following subjects: theoretical and methodological issues of ecology, regional aspects of ecology, regional environmental disasters, structure and functioning of ecosystems, and anthropogenic transformation of ecosystems. The journal differs from others in that it covers a wide range of ecological problems. Emergency Medicine Australasia is the official journal of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and the Australasian Society for Emergency Medicine (ASEM) and aims to present papers and opinions on all aspects of emergency care in the prehospital and hospital environment. Authors are invited to submit any work that will contribute to the progress of emergency medicine within Australasia and worldwide. The Journal publishes STANDARD RESEARCH PAPERS on all aspects of the ecology of inland waters, including rivers and lakes, connected ground waters, flood plains and other wetlands. We accept studies of micro-organisms, algae, macrophytes, invertebrates, fish and other vertebrates, as well as those concerning whole ecosystems and related physical and chemical aspects of the environment. Studies may focus at any level in the ecological hierarchy from physiological ecology and animal behaviour, through population dynamics and evolutionary genetics, to community interactions and ecosystem functioning.
