Peer Review Integrity
All manuscripts relevant to the aims and scope of MER are reviewed anonymously. All manuscripts undergo rigorous double-blind peer review by at least two, usually three, anonymous reviewers. Manuscripts submitted to MER are judged on the following criteria: use of an explicit theoretical or conceptual framework, acknowledgement of relevant literature, originality in analysis, appropriateness of methodological approach, contribution to the advancement of knowledge, use of a multicultural perspective, and clarity of expression. Because of the international scope of MER, authors are encouraged to focus on the underlying aspects of their research that make the work relevant for the larger community of educators and policymakers. The editors rely heavily on reviewers' judgments. Strong efforts are made to ensure prompt decisions about acceptance. To ensure anonymity, authors' names, institutional affiliations, and other identifying information should be placed on a separate title page only.

South Asia is a refereed journal published under the authority of the South Asian Studies Association of Australia. It is published three times a year, in April, August and December. Its mission is to provide a forum for scholarly research, comment and discussion on the history, society, economy, culture and international relations of the South Asian region from the earliest times to the present day. Ordinarily there are two general issues each year, and one dedicated to a topical theme. Published since 1971, South Asia is the world's senior journal of record for the South Asian region.The South Asian Association of Australia represents scholars whose interests are in the South Asian region. It is not strictly focussed, either geographically or by discipline. Generally, it covers countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Himalayan states but the diasporic nature of south Asian cultures and the supra-national influences on the region mean that the interests of scholars may extend well beyond the borders of these states. South Asia is generously supported by the Monash Asia Institute, Monash University, Australia, and the University of New South Wales, Australia. The American Journal of Reproductive Immunology is an international journal devoted to the presentation of current information in all areas relating to Reproductive Immunology. The journal is directed toward both the basic scientist and the clinician, covering the whole process of reproduction as affected by immunological processes. The journal covers a variety of subspecialty topics, including fertility immunology, pregnancy immunology, immunogenetics, mucosal immunology, immunocontraception, endometriosis, abortion, tumor immunology of the reproductive tract, autoantibodies, infectious disease of the reproductive tract, and technical news.

The Brazilian Journal of Anesthesiology is the official journal of the Brazilian Anesthesiology Society. It publishes articles classified into the following categories:
• Scientific articles (clinical or experimental trials)
• Clinical information (case reports)
• Reviews
• Letters to the Editor
• Editorials.

The journal focuses primarily on clinical trials, with scope on clinical practice, aiming at providing applied tools to the anesthesiologist and critical care physician.

The Brazilian Journal of Anesthesiology accepts articles exclusively forwarded to it. Articles already published in other journals are not accepted. All articles proposed for publication are previously submitted to the analysis of two or more members of the Editorial Board or other specialized consultants.

The European Biophysics Journal publishes papers in the field of biophysics, defining biophysics as the study of biological phenomena using physical methods and concepts. The journal presents original papers, reviews and letters. The primary goal of this journal is to advance the understanding of biological structure and function by application of the principles of physical science, and by presenting the work in a biophysical context. Principal areas of interest include: structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules; membrane biophysics and ion channels; cell biophysics and organisation; macromolecular assemblies; biophysical methods and instrumentation; advanced microscopics; and system dynamics. The journal is published on behalf of the European Biophysical Societies Association.

Journal of Economic Structures is a peer-reviewed open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen. It is an international journal that publishes theoretical and empirical articles that apply to a wide range of formal analytical instruments and statistical techniques to explore the structural interdependencies among various activities in the economy. We collect papers dealing with broad issues, covering subjects such as technological and lifestyle changes, qualitative innovations, trade and trade networks, disaster propagation, ecology and development, among others, where structural understanding is essential. The journal supports communication among various related disciplines and encourages contributions from regional practitioners.   

The Journal of Surface Investigation spans the field of surface physics, from the preparation of samples, through physical and chemical properties of surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures (including organic and biological materials), to data analysis and interpretation of results. The Journal focuses closely on novel experimental approaches to characterization of surfaces, interfaces and thin films by X-ray, synchrotron and neutron techniques, which are the most suited techniques for structural studies of nanosystems. The Journal publishes original experimental and theoretical articles and reviews on the most current problems of surface phenomena, surface structure, physical and chemical properties, treatment and investigations of surfaces, as well as thin films, interfaces, and more. The Journal also presents special issues and proceedings of Russian and international conferences.

The Journal of Algebra is a leading international journal and publishes papers that demonstrate high quality research results in algebra and related computational aspects. Only the very best and most interesting papers are to be considered for publication in the journal. With this in mind, it is important that the contribution offer a substantial result that will have a lasting effect upon the field. The journal also seeks work that presents innovative techniques that offer promising results for future research.The Computational Algebra SectionThe Computational Algebra section has been introduced to provide an appropriate forum for contributions which make use of computer calculations and to broaden the scope of the Journal.The following papers are particularly welcome in the Computational Algebra section of the Journal of Algebra:• Results obtained by computer calculations - to be suitable for publication such results must represent a major advance of mathematics. It is not sufficient to extend previous computations by means of higher computer power. Rather the contribution has to exhibit new methods and mathematical results to be accepted.• Classifications of specific algebraic structures (in form of tables, if appropriate), which are not easily obtained and are useful to the algebraic community.• Description and outcome of experiments, to put forward new conjectures, to support existing conjectures, or to give counter examples to existing conjectures.• Papers emphasizing the constructive aspect of algebra, such as description and analysis of new algorithms (not program listings, nor, in the first instance, discussions of software development issues), improvements and extensions of existing algorithms, description of computational methods which are not algorithms in the strict sense (since, e.g., they need not terminate).• Interactions between algebra and computer science, such as automatic structures, word problems and other decision problems in groups and semigroups, preferably, but not necessarily, with an emphasis on practicality, implementations, and performance of the related algorithms.• Contributions are welcome from all areas of algebra, including algebraic geometry or algebraic number theory, if the emphasis is on the algebraic aspects.Contributions describing applications of algebraic results or methods, for example in coding theory, cryptography, or the algebraic theory of differential equations are highly welcome. An important general criterion for the publication of a paper in the Computational Algebra section is its emphasis on the constructive aspects.

This journal is concerned with those aspects of helminthology, protozoology and entomology which are of interest to animal health investigators, veterinary practitioners and others with a special interest in parasitology. Papers of the highest quality dealing with all aspects of disease prevention, pathology, treatment, epidemiology, and control of parasites in all domesticated animals, fall within the scope of the journal. Papers of geographically limited (local) interest which are not of interest to an international audience will not be accepted. Authors who submit papers based on local data will need to indicate why their paper is relevant to a broader readership.Parasitological studies on laboratory animals fall within the scope of the journal only if they provide a reasonably close model of a disease of domestic animals. Additionally the journal will consider papers relating to wildlife species where they may act as disease reservoirs to domestic animals, or as a zoonotic reservoir. Case studies considered to be unique or of specific interest to the journal, will also be considered on occasions at the Editors' discretion. Papers dealing exclusively with the taxonomy of parasites do not fall within the scope of the journal.Studies on rickettsial disease organisms (Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Eperythrozoon) will be considered for publication in Veterinary Parasitology, but only if the paper deals with vector transmission of these organisms to domesticated animals, or if zoonotic. Studies on Rickettsia per se will not be accepted.Studies dealing with parasite control by means of natural products, both in vivo and in vitro, fall within the scope of the journal, but only if well documented and with therapeutically relevant minimum inhibitory concentrations of the active compound(s) being clearly demonstrated.Circumstances relating to animal experimentation must meet the International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research Involving Animals as issued by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences. iOpenAccess option now available Aging & Mental Health provides a leading forum for the rapidly expanding field which investigates the relationship between the aging process and mental health. The international impact of the journal is well recognized. It has readers in over 40 countries, a rising impact factor and is indexed by ISI, MEDLINE, Current Contents and other widely used indexing systems. The journal addresses the mental changes associated with normal and abnormal or pathological aging, as well as the psychological and psychiatric problems of the aging population.Aging & Mental Health covers the biological, psychological and social aspects of aging as they relate to mental health. In particular it encourages an integrated approach between the various biopsychosocial processes and etiological factors associated with psychological changes in the elderly. ACS ES&T Engineering publishes high-impact research and review/perspective/viewpoint articles. It is a specialist journal that aims to serve as an international forum for research and innovation, welcoming contributions on materials, technologies, processes, data analytics and engineering systems that can manage, protect, and remediate air, water, and soil quality, treat wastes, and recover resources. Research contributions that support effective decision-making within complex engineered systems and are informed by mechanistic science and analytics that describe complex environmental engineering systems are encouraged. Papers that present novel, innovative advancements will be considered across the continuum from lab-based discovery to field-based application. Case/demonstration studies without significant scientific advances and technological innovations will not be considered. Papers containing experimental and/or theoretical methods and knowledge grounded in engineering principles that are integrated with core knowledge from other disciplines are welcome. The Journal does NOT cover the following areas if they are presented as solitary topics and without making their connection to engineered systems or technological innovation clear:

• Environmental policy and regulation as a solitary focus (i.e., papers about the impact of engineered systems on the environment and health, and policy/regulation implications are considered within scope as long as outcomes link to advancements around the engineered system as a central theme of the paper)
• Characterization and monitoring of the environment as a solitary focus
• Fate and transport of contaminants and biogeochemical cycling
• Ecotoxicology and environmental health
• Atmospheric chemistry and processes, climate change
• Environmental chemistry as a primary focus (e.g., fundamental reaction mechanisms). However, environmental chemistry works that are necessary to demonstrate or understand engineering technologies or engineered systems may be suitable.
