Policy Studies

ISSN: 0144-2872eISSN: 1470-1006

The world of public policy has become an increasingly small one as a consequence of dramatic changes to global political and economic institutional structures and to nation states themselves. These changes at the structural level of the global system have impacted upon the work of public organizations either directly or indirectly and have broadened the field of action in policy studies. Policy Studies explores the implications of these changes for both the study and the practice of policy-making. It has five main areas of intellectual interest:To broaden the lens of policy analysis through the publication of research which locates policy-making within a theoretical, historical or comparative perspective. To widen the field of enquiry in policy analysis through the publication of research that examines policy issues in a British, comparative, international or global context. To promote constructive debate on theoretical, methodological and empirical issues in policy analysis. To encourage greater interaction between the world of academia and the world of practice through the encouragement of articles from practitioners and academics with real practical significance. To stay apace with developments in the international field of action through the publication of country reports on administrative developments. We therefore encourage the submission of articles in these areas in order to provide a forum for the theoretical and practical discussion of public policy-making.Policy Studies, is a multi-disciplinary journal which attempts to strike an important balance in the production of descriptive, explanatory and evaluative policy oriented research.Peer Review Policy:All the articles in this journal have undergone editorial screening and peer review. Critical Studies in Education

ISSN: 1750-8487eISSN: 1750-8495

Critical Studies in Education is one of the few international journals that is solely devoted to a critical sociology of education. Two questions frame the journal's critical approach to research: (1) whose interests are served by current social arrangements in education and, (2) from the standpoint of the least advantaged, what can be done about inequitable arrangements? Informed by this approach, articles published in the journal draw on post-structural, feminist, postcolonial and other critical orientations to critique education systems and to identify alternatives for education policy, practice and research. The journal welcomes submissions of the highest quality and importance, which make original theoretical and/or empirical contributions, and are aimed at moving the field forward. Submissions may be focused on education policy and/or practice (including pedagogy) across formal education contexts (e.g. schooling, vocational and further education, higher education) as well as informal settings (e.g. television, communities, the internet). Submissions typically focus on power relations associated with gender, class (/poverty), ethnicity and the reproduction of disadvantage. Submissions and Review ProcessThe submissions and review process is managed online using ScholarOne. All submissions undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees. Articles are published in English. Authors are required to provide informative titles, descriptive abstracts and five to ten keywords per article. OncoImmunology

ISSN: 2162-4011eISSN: 2162-402X
DOAJ Logo
Impact Factor: 6.266
© 2014 Thomson Reuters, Journal Citation Reports ® for 2014 ranks OncoImmunology 16 out of 148 in Immunology and 21 out of 211 in Oncology.

Aims & Scope: Tumor immunology deals with the natural or therapy-induced recognition of cancers, as well as with the intricate interplay between oncogenesis, inflammation and immunosurveillance. We now create a new, high-profile journal,  OncoImmunology, that specifically deals with tumor immunology. Recent progress has allowed for the first clinical demonstration (and FDA approval) of anticancer immunotherapies. There is also an ever growing suspicion that - unexpectedly - many of the currently used chemotherapeutic agents depend in their efficacy on the active contribution of immune effectors. To use a drastic metaphor, oncologists who applied successful chemotherapeutic (or radiotherapeutic) regimens have taken advantage of the immune system's capacity to recognize tumor-specific or tumor-associated antigens and to control cancer (stem) cell growth, without being aware of the invisible helping hands. As a result, immunological biomarkers are becoming ever more important to determine the prognosis of cancers and to predict the efficacy of chemotherapies. There is also a strong rationale in favor of combining conventional anticancer therapies with immunotherapies.

OncoImmunology will accept high-profile submissions in the fundamental, translational and clinical areas of tumor immunology. Submissions dealing with solid or hematological cancers, inflammation, innate and acquired immune responses will be welcome.

OncoImmunology will publish Original Research Articles, Brief Reports, Reviews, Commentaries and Meeting Reports in these area of research.

MIATA Compliance

The immune monitoring community has recently established the consensus framework MIATA(“Minimal Information About T Cell Assays”) for reporting of T-cell assay results, which promote objective and thorough interpretation of data and the comparability of results. OncoImmunology supports and encourages the implementation of the MIATA guidelines .

Toxicology in Vitro

ISSN: 0887-2333eISSN: 1879-3177

Toxicology in Vitro publishes original research papers and reviews on the application and use of in vitro systems for assessing or predicting the toxic effects of chemicals and elucidating their mechanisms of action. These in vitro techniques include utilizing cell or tissue cultures, isolated cells, tissue slices, subcellular fractions, transgenic cell cultures, and cells from transgenic organisms, as well as in silico modelling. The Journal will focus on investigations that involve the development and validation of new in vitro methods, e.g. for prediction of toxic effects based on traditional and in silico modelling; on the use of methods in high-throughput toxicology and pharmacology; elucidation of mechanisms of toxic action; the application of genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics in toxicology, as well as on comparative studies that characterise the relationship between in vitro and in vivo findings. The Journal strongly encourages the submission of manuscripts that focus on the development of in vitro methods, their practical applications and regulatory use (e.g. in the areas of food components cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and industrial chemicals). Toxicology in Vitro discourages papers that record reporting on toxicological effects from materials, such as plant extracts or herbal medicines, that have not been chemically characterized.NEW! Journal of Near Eastern Studies

ISSN: 0022-2968eISSN: 1545-6978

Devoted to an examination of the civilizations of the Near East, the Journal of Near Eastern Studies has for 125 years published contributions from scholars of international reputation on the archaeology, art, history, languages, literatures, and religions of the Near East. Founded in 1884 as Hebraica, the journal was renamed twice over the course of the following century, each name change reflecting the growth and expansion of the fields covered by the publication. In 1895 it became the American Journal of Semitic Languages and Literatures, and in 1942 it received its present designation, the Journal of Near Eastern Studies. From an original emphasis on Old Testament studies in the nineteenth century, JNES has since broadened its scope to encompass all aspects of the vibrant and varied civilizations of the Near East, from ancient times to World War I. A substantial book review section in every issue provides a critical overview of new publications by both emerging and established scholars. In addition, the journal publishes biannually a list of books received.
