The aim of Connective Tissue Research is to present original and significant research in all basic areas of connective tissue and matrix biology.The journal also provides topical reviews and, on occasion, the proceedings of conferences in areas of special interest at which original work is presented.The journal supports an interdisciplinary approach; we present a variety of perspectives from different disciplines, includingbiochemistry, cell and molecular biology, immunology, structural biology, biophysics and biomechanics.The tissues of interest are*bone, cartilage, dentin, skin, teeth, and tendon, as well as the eyes, the vascular system, the kidneys and other connective tissue component-rich organs.Many processes are appropriate topics for discussion, such as*growth, development, aging, tissue remodeling, wound healing, and biomineralization.This collection of varied but related presentations will inform, stimulate and broaden the outlooks of individual specialists interested in current connective tissue research.

EJCI considers any original contribution from the most sophisticated basic molecular sciences to applied clinical and translational research and evidence-based medicine across a broad range of subspecialties. The EJCI publishes reports of high-quality research that pertain to the genetic, molecular, cellular, or physiological basis of human biology and disease, as well as research that addresses prevalence, diagnosis, course, treatment, and prevention of disease. We are primarily interested in studies directly pertinent to humans, but submission of robust in vitro and animal work is also encouraged. Interdisciplinary work and research using innovative methods and combinations of laboratory, clinical, and epidemiological methodologies and techniques is of great interest to the journal. Several categories of manuscripts (for detailed description see below) are considered: editorials, original articles (also including randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses), reviews (narrative reviews), opinion articles (including debates, perspectives and commentaries); and letters to the Editor.

Journal of Applied Animal Research (JAAR) accepts manuscripts related to animal production and fundamental aspects of genetics, nutrition, physiology, reproduction, immunology, pathology and animal products. Papers on cows and dairy cattle, small ruminants, horses, pigs and companion animals will be very welcome, as well as research involving other farm animals, aquatic and wildlife species. In addition, manuscripts involving research in other species that is directly related to animal production will be considered for publication. Phycological Research is published by the Japanese Society of Phycology and complements the Japanese Journal of Phycology. The Journal publishes international, basic or applied, peer-reviewed research dealing with all aspects of phycology including ecology, taxonomy and phylogeny, evolution, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, morphology, physiology, new techniques to facilitate the international exchange of results. All articles are peer-reviewed by at least two researchers expert in the filed of the submitted paper. Phycological Research has been credited by the International Association for Plant Taxonomy for the purpose of registration of new non-vascular plant names (including fossils). Research in Nondestructive Evaluation® is the American Society for Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation’s archival research journal. RNDE® contains the results of original research in all areas of nondestructive evaluation (NDE). The journal covers experimental and theoretical investigations dealing with the scientific and engineering bases of NDE, its measurement and methodology, and a wide range of applications of materials and structures that relate to the entire life cycle, from manufacture to use and retirement. Illustrative topics include advances in the underlying science of acoustic, thermal, electrical, magnetic, optical and ionizing radiation techniques and their applications to NDE problems. These problems include the nondestructive characterization of a wide variety of material properties and their degradation in service, nonintrusive sensors for monitoring manufacturing and materials processes, new techniques and combinations of techniques for detecting and characterizing hidden discontinuities and distributed damage in materials, standardization concepts and quantitative approaches for advanced NDE techniques, and long-term continuous monitoring of structures and assemblies.

Sexuality and Disabililty is an international forum for the publication of peer-reviewed original interdisciplinary scholarly papers that address the psychological and medical aspects of sexuality in relation to rehabilitation. Publishing timely research articles, review articles, case studies, clinical practice reports, brief research reports, survey data reports, and book and film reviews, the journal offers the latest developments in the area of sexuality as it relates to a wide range of disabilities and conditions. Contributions address: clinical and research progress; community programs; independent-living programs; guidelines for clinical practice; special grand-rounds topics; consumer issues; and contemporary developments in special programs in sex education and counseling for people with disabilities. • Nuclear Materials and Energy is the first fully open-access journal in this field. The Max-Planck-Society has started the Open-Access Initiative in 2003 realizing that a stable, competitive, and quality-assured OA publication system offers immense benefits to the research community. Particularly research using public funding has the responsibility to make results freely available to all interested readers.
• At the same time it is of paramount importance that the transition to OA must preserve or even improve the quality standards of the present subscription-based model. The Journal adopts a rigorous peer-reviewing policy to guarantee high quality standards. A broad Editorial Board of renowned experts covering the full scope of the journal helps in the evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

The scientific support by the Max-Planck Institut für Plasmaphysik also underlines its contribution to the field of research on plasma-facing materials and determines the scientific scope of the Journal. The emphasis will be on materials employed in reactors where they are exposed to extreme environments in terms of radiation, temperature and corrosive conditions. The main topics are:

• Fusion reactor materials, including plasma-facing components, blankets, insulators and magnets.
• Material erosion and transport in the boundary of fusion plasmas and its effect on the incident plasma conditions.
• Interaction of plasmas, ion beams, electron beams and intense heat fluxes with materials with emphasis on lifetime, tritium retention and permeation, and structural stability.
• Reactor materials enduring radiation doses at very high temperature far beyond the capability of materials now available for components, but excluding fuel cycle, actinide compounds, and nuclear waste.
• The material behaviour in the interaction with reactor coolants during normal operation and in accidental conditions.
• Materials behaviour addressing the release of fuel, activated dust and reaction products during accidental conditions, and the physical and chemical interactions of reactor core and containment materials.
• Neutron and charged particle radiation effects in materials, including defects, gas retention and permeation, transmutations, microstructural changes, phase changes and macroscopic properties.

The manuscript must contain new experimental results as well as theoretical evaluations and computer simulations. The manuscript must focus on materials science and engineering related to application in nuclear energy production. Thus, all topics within nuclear science and engineering or materials science and engineering without relevance to energy production do not necessarily fall within the scope.

The Journal is dedicated to original research manuscripts with a maximum length of six journal pages. The Journal can stimulate research and interest by soliciting invited reviews also exceeding the 6 page limit.

1. Vision Research is a journal devoted to the functional aspects of human, vertebrate and invertebrate vision and publishes experimental and observational studies, reviews, and theoretical papers firmly based upon the current facts of visual science. Vision Research also accepts experimental studies in which clinical material has been used to address an issue of basic research interest, or where basic research methods have been used to address an issue of clinical importance, or where basic research may have, as yet unapplied, clinical relevance, as far as mechanisms of function or dysfunction of the visual system are concerned. The words clinical and vision sciences should be interpreted in the broadest sense, as represented by the areas of expertise of the members of the Editorial Board. Papers reporting detailed investigations are encouraged and authors should be advised to include enough background material in the introduction of their papers so that they are comprehensible to the non-specialist. The purpose of theoretical papers is to give a higher sense of order to the facts as they are presently known, or to point to new observations which can be verified experimentally. Papers dealing with questions in the history of visual science should lay stress upon the history of ideas in this field. Vision Research has always welcomed the broadest interpretation of visual science.2. Vision Research also welcomes mini reviews. A mini review is not intended to be a comprehensive history of the subject, but rather a survey of recent developments in fast-growing and active areas of vision research covering only the last few years.3. Letters to the Editor: If in response to a published article a letter to the Editor is received, this letter will be sent out for review and at the same time be forwarded to the author(s) tackled. If the letter is accepted, the author(s) of the initial paper will be invited to write a reply within a short period of time, and the reviewers of the letter will be asked to review the reply.4. Obituaries: Vision Research has a restrictive Obituary policy. Obituaries should be submitted to the appropriate Section Editor and the Chairman, and should not exceed a length of one printed page including photograph.5. Special non-recurrent symposia may be published in Vision Research. Symposium organizers are requested to contact the Chairman.
