Solid State Communications is an international medium for the publication of short communications on significant developments in condensed matter science, giving scientists immediate access to important, recently completed work. The journal publishes original experimental and theoretical research on the physical and chemical properties of solids and other condensed systems and also on their preparation. The submission of manuscripts reporting research on the basic physics of materials science and devices, as well as of state-of-the-art microstructures and nanostructures, is encouraged.A coherent quantitative treatment emphasizing new physics is expected rather than a simple accumulation of experimental data. Consistent with these aims, the submitted manuscripts should be kept concise and short, usually not longer than four printed pages. The number of figures and tables should also be kept to a minimum. Instructions for the preparation of manuscripts appear in the first issue of each volume. Solid State Communications will also publish important initial results of ongoing research which should be referred to in more extensive papers being submitted elsewhere at a later date.It is strongly recommended that authors submit their manuscripts either to a local (or nearby) Editor or to one who is an expert in their field of endeavour.The Fast-Track section of Solid State communications is the venue for very rapid publication of short communications on significant developments in condensed matter science. The goal is to offer the broad condensed matter community quick and immediate access to publish recently completed papers in research areas that are rapidly evolving and in which there are developments with great potential impact.

This interdisciplinary journal is devoted to the physics, chemistry and materials science of diffusion, mass transport, and reactivity of solids. The major part of each issue is devoted to articles on: (i) physics and chemistry of defects in solids; (ii) reactions in and on solids, e.g. intercalation, corrosion, oxidation, sintering; (iii) ion transport measurements, mechanisms and theory. South African Journal of Chemical Engineering, SAJCE, aims to be the principal open access journal for publication of high quality, original papers in all areas of chemical engineering. The journal is fully international with contributions encouraged from both within and outside South Africa. The Origin and Aims of COSPARThe COmmittee on SPAce Research (COSPAR) was established by the International Council of Scientific Unions in October 1958 to continue the cooperative programmes of rocket and satellite research successfully undertaken during the International Geophysical Year of 1957-58. The ICSU resolution creating COSPAR stated that the primary purpose of COSPAR was to "provide the world scientific community with the means whereby it may exploit the possibilities of satellites and space probes of all kinds for scientific purposes, and exchange the resulting data on a cooperative basis". Hence, COSPAR is an interdisciplinary scientific organization concerned with progress on an international scale of all kinds of scientific investigations carried out with space vehicles, rockets and balloons.COSPAR's objectives are carried out by the international community of scientists working through ICSU and its adhering national academies and international scientific unions. Operating under the rules of ICSU, COSPAR ignores political considerations and considers all questions solely from the scientific viewpoint.The COSPAR Information Bulletin has been published since 1960. The Bulletin addresses not only researchers connected with COSPAR but also other scientists and the lay public active or interested in the latest developments in scientific space activities. Occasionally a guest editorial, invited article or a space image of interest to the community will be included. Revista de Psiquiatría y Salud Mental es el órgano de expresión oficial de la Sociedad Española de Psiquiatría y de la Sociedad Española de Psiquiatría Biológica. Es una publicación orientada al estudio de las enfermedades mentales, sus procesos patológicos y sus consecuencias psicosociales, y tiene como finalidad difundir los avances científicos en todos los campos relacionados con la enfermedad y la salud mental. Se publican trabajos inéditos sobre la psiquiatría y salud mental y su repercusión médica y social. Por ese motivo, se da cabida en la revista a trabajos procedentes del ámbito biológico, clínico y psicosocial. Los manuscritos son evaluados, antes de ser aceptados, por revisores externos (peer-review).

Spatial Statistics publishes articles on the theory and application of spatial and spatio-temporal statistics. It favours manuscripts that present theory generated by new applications, or in which new theory is applied to an important practical case. A purely theoretical study will only rarely be accepted. Pure case studies without methodological development are not acceptable for publication.Spatial statistics concerns the quantitative analysis of spatial and spatio-temporal data, including their statistical dependencies, accuracy and uncertainties. Methodology for spatial statistics is typically found in probability theory, stochastic modelling and mathematical statistics as well as in information science. Spatial statistics is used in mapping, assessing spatial data quality, sampling design optimisation, modelling of dependence structures, and drawing of valid inference from a limited set of spatio-temporal data. Application fields includeThe physical domains, e.g. agriculture, geology, soil science, hydrology, ecology, mining, oceanography, forestry, air quality, remote sensingThe social/economic domains, e.g. spatial econometrics, epidemiology and disease mapping.Spatial Statistics aims to publish reproducible science. Authors are encouraged to submit and publish procedures and data, along with the manuscript.

The journal will also consider applications where health care provision is the focus. Coverage of veterinary topics will be included, and those with direct human health implications are especially welcome. The journal places special emphasis on spatio-temporal aspects of emerging diseases (e.g., avian flu, SARS), development of spatial statistical and computational methods, and novel applications of geospatial technology (e.g., GPS, GIS) for shedding insights on exposure and disease processes.

The journal accepts three different types of submissions:
1. Methods papers that outline new methodology in the areas of GIS, spatial statistics, exposure science, and/or epidemiology;
2. Case Study/Applications papers where recently developed methodology is applied to novel applications with a clear exposure/disease focus; and
3. Short reports where a) they are around 4-8 text pages in length b) they focus on an important novel development and c) the development should be capable of description within the page length. Case Studies progress reports in the form of 'what we have done so far' are not acceptable as Short Reports unless they comply with b) or c) above.

Spectrochimica Acta, Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy (SAA) is a well-established platform for scientific exchange among molecular spectroscopists. The journal aims to publish papers dealing with novel experimental and/or theoretical aspects of molecular and biomolecular spectroscopy. The focus is on fundamental papers that advance the understanding of molecular and biomolecular structure, function, dynamics and interaction with the help of molecular spectroscopy. This includes innovations on the technical side of molecular spectroscopy and on new theoretical approaches for the quantitative calculation and modeling of spectra, as well as highly innovative biomedical spectroscopic techniques with possible applications. From the broad range of spectroscopies, the emphasis is on electronic, vibrational or rotational spectra of molecules, rather than on spectroscopy based on the coupling of electron or nuclear magnetic moments.The journal particularly welcomes manuscripts dealing with:• Fundamental aspects of bioanalytical, biomedical, environmental, and atmospheric measurements• Novel experimental techniques of molecular spectroscopy (such as surface spectroscopy, non-linear optics, hole-burning spectroscopy, single-molecule studies with new insights, spectroscopy beyond diffraction limit, etc.)• Novel theoretical aspects (such as ab-initio theory, modelling of vibrational spectra, etc.)• Novel applications in chemistry and photochemistry (such as reaction mechanisms, characterization of intermediates, and ultrafast dynamics, etc.)• Methodic advances in chemometric studies based on electronic or vibrational spectroscopyCriteria for publication in SAA are topicality, novelty, uniqueness, and outstanding quality. Manuscripts describing routine use or minor extensions or modifications of established and/or published methodologies (e.g. standard absorption, emission or scattering measurements; standard chemometry; FRET) are not appropriate for the journal. In addition, manuscripts describing analytical procedures that use established spectroscopic techniques, such as the quantitative determination of pharmaceutical compounds with optical techniques or the characterization of compounds with optical techniques in the course of a chemical or biochemical synthesis, will not be accepted for publication, even if they appear new or improved with respect to procedures previously used.
