Biological control is an environmentally sound and effective means of reducing or mitigating pests and pest effects through the use of natural enemies. The aim of Biological Control is to promote this science and technology through publication of original research articles and reviews of research and theory. The journal devotes a section to reports on biotechnologies dealing with the elucidation and use of genes or gene products for the enhancement of biological control agents. The journal encompasses biological control of viral, microbial, nematode, insect, mite, weed, and vertebrate pests in agriculture, aquatic, forest, natural resource, stored product, and urban environments. Biological control of arthropod pests of human and domestic animals is also included. Ecological, molecular, and biotechnological approaches to the understanding of biological control are welcome. This multidisciplinary journal covers:• Entomology-parasitoids, predators, and pathogens and their use through importation, augmentation, and/or habitat management strategies• Plant Pathology-antagonism, competition, cross-protection, hyperparasitism, hypovirulence, and soil suppressiveness through naturally occurring and introduced agents• Nematology-predators, parasitoids, and pathogens in biological control through augmentation and/or habitat management strategies and suppressive soils through naturally occurring and introduced agents• Weed Science-vertebrates, invertebrates, and pathogens and their use through classical, augmentative, or bioherbicidal tacticsThe following sections are included:• Molecular Technology-advances in the understanding of biological control agents and their mechanisms• Forum-theoretical and special topics Letters to the Editors-serving as an avenue for debate.
Biology and Fertility of Soils publishes in English original papers, reviews and short communications on all fundamental and applied aspects of biology – microflora and microfauna - and fertility of soils. It offers a forum for research aimed at broadening the understanding of biological functions, processes and interactions in soils, particularly concerning the increasing demands of agriculture, deforestation and industrialization. The journal includes articles on techniques and methods that evaluate processes, biogeochemical interactions and ecological stresses, and sometimes presents special issues on relevant topics. The Founding Editor is Johannes C. G. Ottow; the Editor-in-Chief is Paolo Nannipieri, Dipartimento Scienza del Suoloe Nutrizione della Pianta, Università di Firenze, Italy.
Biomass and Bioenergy is an international journal publishing original research papers and short communications, review articles and case studies on biological resources, chemical and biological processes, and biomass products for new renewable sources of energy and materials. The scope of the journal extends to the environmental, management and economic aspects of biomass and bioenergy.Key areas covered by the journal:• Biomass: sources, energy crop production processes, genetic improvements, composition. Please note that research on these biomass subjects must be linked directly to bioenergy generation.• Biological Residues: residues/rests from agricultural production, forestry and plantations (palm, sugar etc), processing industries, and municipal sources (MSW). Papers on the use of biomass residues through innovative processes/technological novelty and/or consideration of feedstock/system sustainability (or unsustainability) are welcomed. However waste treatment processes and pollution control or mitigation which are only tangentially related to bioenergy are not in the scope of the journal, as they are more suited to publications in the environmental arena. Papers that describe conventional waste streams (ie well described in existing literature) that do not empirically address 'new' added value from the process are not suitable for submission to the journal.• Bioenergy Processes: fermentations, thermochemical conversions, liquid and gaseous fuels, and petrochemical substitutes• Bioenergy Utilization: direct combustion, gasification, electricity production, chemical processes, and by-product remediation• Biomass and the Environment: carbon cycle, the net energy efficiency of bioenergy systems, assessment of sustainability, and biodiversity issues. The journal does not accept for review papers on the following subjects:• Performance of fuel combustion in engines• Technical aspects of first generation biofuels• Soil science papers with no direct linking to bioenergy generation• Isolation of yeast/bacterial strains• Purely analytical biochemistry derived studies that have no direct linking to bioenergy generationBenefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Biosystems Engineering publishes research in engineering and the physical sciences that represent advances in understanding or modelling of the performance of biological systems for sustainable developments in land use and the environment, agriculture and amenity, bioproduction processes and the food chain. The subject matter of the journal reflects the wide range and interdisciplinary nature of research in engineering for biological systems.Papers may report the results of experiments, theoretical analyses, design of, or innovations relating to, machines and mechanisation systems, processes or processing methods, equipment and buildings, experimental equipment, laboratory and analytical techniques and instrumentation.LIST OF REVIEWERS 2011Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. California Agriculture is a peer-reviewed journal reporting research, reviews and news from the University of California and its Agriculture and Natural Resources division. The first issue of California Agriculture was published in December 1946, making it one of the oldest, continuously published, land-grant university research publications in the country. It is also one of the largest circulation publications of its kind (about 15,000 domestic and 1,700 foreign subscribers). The authors are primarily, but not exclusively, faculty from the University of California. It is currently published quarterly.
This Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics is an international peer-reviewed journal published on behalf of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society. Theoretical, applied and policy-related submissions are encouraged.
2009 Impact Factor - 0.632.Five Year Impact Factor - 1.054.169;2010 Thomson Reuters, 2009 Journal Citation Reports174;Aims & Scope The Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology publishes the results of scientific research and other information relevant to the discipline of plant pathology as review papers, research articles, notes and disease reports. Papers may be submitted in English or French and are subject to peer review. Research articles and notes include original research that contributes to the science of plant pathology or to the practice of plant pathology, including the diagnosis, estimation, prevention, and control of plant diseases. Notes are generally shorter in length and include more concise research results. Disease reports are brief, previously unpublished accounts of diseases occurring on a new host or geographic region. Review papers include mini-reviews, descriptions of emerging technologies, and full reviews on a topic of interest to readers, including symposium papers. These papers will be highlighted in each issue of the journal and require prior discussion with the Editor-in-Chief prior to submission. All submissions should be made online at the Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology Manuscript Central site. New users should first create an account. Once logged on to the site, submissions should be made via the Author Centre. Online user guides and access to a helpdesk are available on this website.Click here for Aims & Scopes in FrenchDisclaimer The Canadian Phytopathological Society/Revue de la Soci233;t233; Canadienne de Phytopathologie and Taylor & Francis make every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the 8220;Content8221;) contained in its publications.
