Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (BBE) is the official journal of the Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The journal was founded in 1981. One volume, composed of four issues, is published annually. The following types of contributions connected with biocybernetics and biomedical engineering can be accepted for publication: original research works, reviews (if ordered by BBE), short communications and letters. A special attention is focused on the following fields: biosystems, biomeasurements, artificial organs, biomaterials, biomechanics, medical information systems, neuronal nets etc. Any researcher can have a paper published in the journal. The only criterion for the acceptance of the submitted paper is its scientific value confirmed by the reviewers.

That is, using cells, proteins and biomaterials as building blocks to manufacture biological systems and/or therapeutic products. It includes the following topics:
biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, drug delivery systems, nanomedicine, medical devices
Biomaterials Science is an international high impact journal exploring the science of biomaterials and their translation towards clinical use. Its scope encompasses new concepts in biomaterials design, studies into the interaction of biomaterials with the body, and the use of materials to answer fundamental biological questions. Papers do not necessarily need to report a new biomaterial but should provide novel insight into the biological applications of the biomaterial.
Biomedical Engineering covers recent advances in the growing field of biomedical technology, instrumentation, and administration. Contributions focus on theoretical and practical problems associated with:the development of medical technology:the introduction of new engineering methods into public health:hospitals and patient care:the improvement of diagnosis and therapy:biomedical information storage and retrieval.
Biomedical Engineering is a translation of the Russian journal Meditsinskaya Tekhnika. The Russian volume-year is published in English beginning in July.Biomedizinische Technik / Biomedical Engineering (BMT) is a high-quality forum for the exchange of knowledge in the fields of biomedical engineering, medical information technology and biotechnology/bioengineering. As an established journal with a tradition of more than 50 years, BMT addresses engineers, natural scientists, and clinicians working in research, industry, or clinical practice. All articles are peer-reviewed.BMT publishes reviews, research articles, short communications, case reports, letters to the editor, and book reviews. Since the journal is moving to an English only publication, all manuscripts must be submitted in English. On a regular basis, the magazine of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering, Health Technologies, is inserted in BMT.
Biomedical Engineering Letters (BMEL) aims to present the innovative experimental science and technological development in the biomedical field as well as clinical application of new development. The article must contain original biomedical engineering content, defined as development, theoretical analysis, and evaluation/validation of a new technique. BMEL publishes the following types of papers: original articles, review articles, editorials, and letters to the editor.

Biosensors & Bioelectronics is the principal international journal devoted to research, design, development and application of biosensors and bioelectronics. It is an interdisciplinary journal serving professionals with an interest in the exploitation of biological materials and designs in novel diagnostic and electronic devices including sensors, DNA chips, electronic noses, lab-on-a-chip and µ-TAS.Biosensors are defined as analytical devices incorporating a biological material (e.g. tissue, microorganisms, organelles, cell receptors, enzymes, antibodies, nucleic acids, natural products etc.), a biologically derived material (e.g. recombinant antibodies, engineered proteins, aptamers etc) or a biomimic (e.g. synthetic receptors, biomimetic catalysts, combinatorial ligands, imprinted polymers etc) intimately associated with or integrated within a physicochemical transducer or transducing microsystem, which may be optical, electrochemical, thermometric, piezoelectric, magnetic or micromechanical (Turner et al., 1987; Turner, 1989). Biosensors usually yield a digital electronic signal which is proportional to the concentration of a specific analyte or group of analytes. While the signal may in principle be continuous, devices can be configured to yield single measurements to meet specific market requirements. Examples of Biosensors include immunosensors, enzyme-based biosensors, organism- and whole cell-based biosensors. They have been applied to a wide variety of analytical problems including uses in medicine, biomedical research, drug discovery, the environment, food, process industries, security and defence. The design and study of molecular and supramolecular structures with molecular biorecognition and biomimetic properties for use in analytical devices is also included within the scope of the journal. Here the focus is on the complementary intersection between molecular recognition, nanotechnology, molecular imprinting and supramolecular chemistry to improve the analytical performance and robustness of devices. The emerging field of Bioelectronics seeks to exploit biology in conjunction with electronics in a wider context encompassing, for example, biological fuel cells, bionics and biomaterials for information processing, information storage, electronic components and actuators. A key aspect is the interface between biological materials and micro- and nano-electronics.While endeavouring to maintain coherence in the scope of the journal, the editors will accept reviews and papers of obvious relevance to the community, which describe important new concepts, underpin understanding of the field or provide important insights into the practical application, manufacture and commercialisation of biosensors and bioelectronics.
