Astronomy and Computing

ISSN: 2213-1337eISSN: 2213-1345

Astronomy and Computing focuses on the broad area between astronomy, computer science and information technology. The journal aims to publish the work of scientists and (software) engineers in all aspects of astronomical computing, including the collection, analysis, reduction, visualisation, preservation and dissemination of data, and the development of astronomical software and simulations. The journal covers applications for academic computer science techniques to astronomy, as well as novel applications of information technologies within astronomy. The journal is open to a broad range of contributions about the use of computing used in astronomy. It accepts regular scientific articles and review articles, but will also consider manuscripts on new software and data releases of astronomical surveys, and "reports on practice" which describe the outcomes (positive and negative) of the practical application of informatics techniques within astronomy research and operations. In general, manuscripts should make a valuable contribution to the field and should display an appropriate familiarity with previous work in the area and alternative approaches to the same problem. Providing a sustainable link to data or source code is strongly encouraged. All manuscripts are subject to peer-review.The journal welcomes contributions on a variety of topics including:Scientific software engineeringComputational infrastructureComputational techniques used for astrophysical simulationsVisualizationData management, archives, and virtual observatoryData analysis, data mining and statisticsData processing pipeline and automated systemsSemantics, data citation and data preservationWhy publish in Astronomy and Computing

Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin

ISSN: 0012-6543eISSN: 1755-5248

For nearly 50 years, DTB has provided rigorous and independent evaluations of, and practical advice on, individual treatments and the overall management of disease for doctors, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. DTB was started in 1962. From the outset, it has provided healthcare professionals with independent, clear, reliable information and advice to help ensure patients get the best care. DTB conclusions represent a synthesis of the best available medical evidence with opinions from a wide range of commentators. Published monthly by BMJ, DTB is wholly independent of industry, Government and regulatory authorities and does not carry any display advertising or accept any form of commercial sponsorship.DTB provides articles based on a synthesis of evidence with opinions from a wide range of specialist and generalist commentators, typically over 40 individuals and organisations for each article. Over the years, DTB has initiated successful campaigns for the removal or restriction of medicines that it could not recommend, prompted withdrawal of excessive promotional claims and exposed fundamental weaknesses in certain prescribing practice.Surveys of our readership have consistently shown that readers find DTB authoritative and influential in relation to their decisions, recommendations or advice on treatments. These are just a few of the examples of why DTB is regarded as an indispensable part of evidence-based clinical practice and has been described as both essential reading for practising doctors and as a key information source by the House of Commons Health Select Committee in the UK.

Engineering Studies

ISSN: 1937-8629eISSN: 1940-8374

Click here to read the first issue for free. Engineering Studies is an interdisciplinary, international journal devoted to the scholarly study of engineers and engineering. Its mission is threefold: 1. to advance research in historical, social, cultural, political, philosophical, rhetorical, and organizational studies of engineers and engineering; 2. to help build and serve diverse communities of researchers interested in engineering studies; 3. to link scholarly work in engineering studies with broader discussions and debates about engineering education, research, practice, policy, and representation. The editors of Engineering Studies are interested in papers that consider the following questions: * How does this paper enhance understanding of engineers or engineering? * What are the relationships among the technical and nontechnical dimensions of engineering practices, and how do these relationships change over time and from place to place? Engineering Studies is published three times yearly by Routledge, an imprint of the Taylor & Francis Group, beginning in 2009. Vision Statement The field of engineering studies is a diverse, interdisciplinary arena of scholarly research built around the question: What are the relationships among the technical and the nontechnical dimensions of engineering practices, and how do these relationships change over time and from place to place? Addressing and responding to this question can sometimes involve researchers as critical participants in the practices they study, including, for example, engineering formation, engineering work, engineering design, equity in engineering (gender, racial, ethnic, class, geopolitical), and engineering service to society. Engineering Studies juxtaposes contributions from distinct disciplinary and analytical perspectives to encourage authors and readers to look beyond familiar theoretical, topical, temporal, and geographical boundaries for insight and guidance. The diversity in the editorial staff and board is designed to map the diversity in the field and support its persistence. While prospective authors are invited to reflect on and anticipate how their work might prove helpful to others elsewhere, both within the academy and beyond, they can also feel comfortable imagining familiar audiences and producing familiar modes of analysis and interpretation. The heterogeneity of perspectives in engineering studies is its lifeblood, and the goal is high quality scholarship in every case.
