Reports of research using innovative approaches in cell and organ physiology, molecular and cellular biology, molecular genetics, genomics including animal models of integrative function, biochemistry, biophysics, and morphology, are welcome. The Journal also encourages submission of original manuscripts in the field of translational physiology, an area of research that bridges the gap between basic lung, cellular, and molecular physiology and patient care. Manuscripts in this area may transfer clinical insights into hypotheses that can be tested and validated in the basic research laboratory, or they may transfer knowledge gained from basic research to human pathophysiology and to improved methods of treating or preventing disease.

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology

ISSN: 0305-1978

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology is devoted to the publication of original papers and reviews, both submitted and invited, in two subject areas: (i) the application of biochemistry to problems relating to systematic biology of organisms (biochemical systematics); (ii) the role of biochemistry in interactions between organisms or between an organism and its environment (biochemical ecology). Papers will be grouped in each issue according to subject area. Research papers should generally be of completed investigations. Preliminary reports will be published where findings are considered to be of sufficient interest to justify rapid publication. In addition, short reports of new sources of known compounds (New Source Reports) will be accepted where they can be justified in terms of systematic or ecological significance. These reports must be written to a standard format. One volume will appear annually and eleven issues will constitute a volume. All manuscripts should be sent directly to the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Monique Simmonds. Before preparing their contributors, Authors are earnestly requested to study the latest Notes to Contributors, which were last published in Vol. 31, No. 5 (copies of these instructions are available from the Executive Editors.) Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A (Statistics in Society)

ISSN: 0964-1998eISSN: 1467-985X

The aim of Series A is to publish papers that demonstrate how statistical thinking, design and analyses play a vital role in all walks of life and benefit society in general. There is no restriction on subject-matter: any interesting, topical and revelatory applications of statistics are welcome. For example, important applications of statistical methods in medicine, business and commerce, industry, economics and finance, education and teaching, physical and biomedical sciences, the environment, the law, government and politics, demography, psychology, sociology and sport all fall within the journal's remit. The journal is therefore aimed at a wide statistical audience and at professional statisticians in particular. Its emphasis is on well-written and clearly reasoned quantitative approaches to problems in the real world rather than the exposition of technical detail. Thus, although the methodological basis of papers must be sound and adequately explained, methodology per se should not be the main focus of a Series A paper. Of particular interest are papers on topical or contentious statistical issues, papers which give reviews or exposes of current statistical concerns and papers which demonstrate how appropriate statistical thinking has contributed to our understanding of important substantive questions. Historical, professional and biographical contributions are also welcome as are discussions of methods of data collection and of ethical issues, provided that all such papers have substantial statistical relevance. Discussion papers.

Progress in Energy and Combustion Science

ISSN: 0360-1285eISSN: 1873-216X

Conservation of energy requires an efficient combustion of fossil fuels, and the protection of the environment demands a limitation of the pollutants emitted from combustion systems. Progress in Energy and Combustion Science contains articles by internationally recognized authors in the fields of combustion, flames, fuel science and technology and energy studies. Each volume contains a number of specially commissioned review articles on a specific topic, which provides the reader with an orderly and concise survey of a particular aspect of combustion and energy. The length of the articles allows authors to discuss their subjects more fully and comprehensively than can be undertaken in papers reporting original work. These review articles provide an opportunity for research workers to become usefully informed in fields other than their own. They are of use to students seeking a review of a particular subject, together with a comprehensive bibliography. Certain volumes are also aimed at engineers working in government and industrial research establishments, seeking practical solutions to problems in the fields of energy and pollution.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Solar Energy

ISSN: 0038-092XeISSN: 1471-1257

Solar Energy, the official journal of the International Solar Energy Society®, is devoted exclusively to the science and technology of solar energy applications. The Society was founded in 1954 and is now incorporated as a non-profit educational and scientific institution. With participation encompassing 100 countries, ISES® serves as a centre for information on research and development in solar energy utilisation. Through its publications and its sponsorship of technical conferences, the Society provides a world forum for the active consideration of solar energy.Solar Energy welcomes manuscripts presenting information not previously published in journals on any aspect of solar energy research, development, application, measurement or policy. The term "solar energy" in this context includes the indirect uses such as wind energy and biomass. Because of the international character of Solar Energy, articles that deal solely with the solar radiation or wind data base of a specific country are not normally considered suitable for Solar Energy. Submitted manuscripts may take the form of reports of original studies or reviews of significant prior work in a given area. All manuscripts are subject to reviews to assure accuracy, clarity, and long-term value.Manuscripts of general interest not being suitable for Solar Energy should be submitted to Refocus, which publishes magazine-style feature articles concerning all aspects of renewable energy.
