Economics & Human Biology

ISSN: 1570-677XeISSN: 1873-6130

Economics and Human Biology is devoted to the exploration of the effect of socio-economic processes on human beings as biological organisms. Research covered in this (triennial) interdisciplinary journal is not bound by temporal or geographic limitations.Themes include:The impact of socio-economic processes, such as industrialization, urbanization, agricultural policy, technological change and commercialization and the degree of penetration of the world food system on biological welfare and health outcomes. The effects of government intervention programs, as well as macroeconomic and public health policy on the human organism at either the individual or the population level.Feedback effects from human biological outcomes to economic growth at the national, regional and local levels insofar as healthier individuals invariably lead longer more creative and more productive lives, influencing thereby the course of economic development. The complex symbiotic relationship between such anthropometric indicators as weight, birth-weight, physical stature and the body-mass-index, as well as morbidity and mortality, on the one hand and socio-economic processes or events on the other. The conceptualization of health and health models in economic theory. The measurement of poverty, malnutrition and psychological deprivation and the role of health and income inequality in the persistence of poverty traps. The biological components of the quality of life: how well does the human organism itself thrive in its socio-economic and epidemiological environment.Health and economic systems; environment and health; health in the transition economies.Statistical, econometric, methodological and philosophical issues associated with the measurement and modeling of these relationships.Contributions in auxology, anthropometry, biocultural anthropology, demography, development economics, economic history, epidemiology, health economics, human biology, human nutrition, health sciences, medicine, physical anthropology, public health and sociology are welcomed.

ACS Energy Letters is a monthly peer-reviewed journal that publishes new scientific advances in all aspects of energy research that are of interest to scientists working in the fundamental, and applied sciences. A central criterion to acceptance is that the paper reports sufficiently new results such that rapid publication is essential.

The journal maintains one of the most rapid publication times in the field (average 4-6 weeks from submission to web publication in ASAP -As Soon As Publishable- format). ACS Energy Letters is currently ranked within the top 10 journals for the Web of Science Electrochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Energy & Fuels, and Nanoscience & Nanotechnology categories.

Journal editors and staff routinely attend major scientific conferences, and are eager to discuss with readers and authors, and the journal maintains an active presence on social media.

The following topics are examples within the scope of ACS Energy Letters:

  • Storage Batteries and Supercapacitors
  • Solar Cells (for example, Perovskite, Quantum Dots, Organic Photovoltaics and Tandem)
  • Solar Fuels (Hydrogen, CO2 and N2 reduction) and Biofuels
  • Energy Materials (Quantum Dots and Light Harvesting Assemblies)
  • LED and Display Devices
  • Fuel Cells and Redox Flow Batteries
  • Photo- and Electro- Chemical/Catalytic Processes
  • Desalination and Electrolyzers

Reviewers of ACS Energy Letters manuscripts will be asked the following questions:

  • Is the manuscript likely to interest a substantial number of energy researchers, not just specialists working in the authors' specialized area of research?
  • Are the conclusions adequately supported with appropriate data, control experiments, and statistics?

How does the manuscript rank in terms of urgency, significance, novelty, and scholarly presentation?

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity

ISSN: 0265-931XeISSN: 1879-1700

The Journal of Environmental Radioactivity provides a coherent international forum for publication of original research or review papers on any aspect of the occurrence of radioactivity in natural systems.Relevant subject areas range from applications of environmental radionuclides as mechanistic or timescale tracers of natural processes to assessments of the radioecological or radiological effects of ambient radioactivity. Papers deal with naturally occurring nuclides or with those created and released by man through nuclear weapons manufacture and testing, energy production, fuel-cycle technology, etc. Reports on radioactivity in the oceans, sediments, rivers, lakes, groundwaters, soils, atmosphere and all divisions of the biosphere are welcomed, but these should not simply be of a monitoring nature unless the data are particularly innovative.Research papers are also included which, by either experimental or theoretical approaches, aim towards an improved understanding of the behaviour, transfer and distribution of environmental radionuclides. Predictive modelling is particularly encouraged. Papers on dating methods are acceptable if they have clear geophysical or geochemical significance. Descriptions of experimental methods should be both highly original and specifically related to determination of low-level environmental activities. The journal provides a vehicle for objective, open and peer-reviewed publication and discussion of the more controversial aspects of environmental radioactivity, including assessments of health effects, criteria for discharge control and options for ultimate disposal of nuclear wastes.Publication in this field is also encouraged in the related book series Radioactivity in the Environment designed to complement the coverage of the journal.

Information and Organization

ISSN: 1471-7727eISSN: 1873-7919

Advances in information and communication technologies are associated with a wide and increasing range of social consequences, which are experienced by individuals, work groups, organizations, interorganizational networks, and societies at large. Information technologies are implicated in all industries and in public as well as private enterprises. Understanding the relationships between information technologies and social organization is an increasingly important and urgent social and scholarly concern in many disciplinary fields.Information and Organization seeks to publish original scholarly articles on the relationships between information technologies and social organization. It seeks a scholarly understanding that is based on empirical research and relevant theory. Information and Organization also seeks to advance established and emerging theoretical arguments through the publication of papers that review empirical research and provide directions for future research and theory development. Essays that provoke critical thinking on important subjects are also sought. The aim is to provide a forum that brings together innovative, reflective, and rigorous scholarship.Of special interest are contributions on the social construction of information technologies, the implications of information technologies for organizational change, alternative organizational designs such as virtual and networked organizations, information system development, organizational governance and control, accounting systems, globalization, decision processes, organizational learning, ethics of information, organizational communication and organizational culture. A rich variety of disciplines provide valuable perspectives on these topics, and the journal seeks contributions from fields such as information systems, organization science, philosophy, history, psychology, anthropology, political science, sociology, computer science, communication, and others.Interest is not restricted to any particular technology for processing or transmitting information. Indeed, new technologies emerge continuously, and the journal seeks to provide a useful forum for discussion about emerging technologies and their social and organizational consequences. Interest is also not restricted to any specific theoretical or disciplinary position. The journal invites a broad spectrum of contemporary and historical scholarship, including theoretical, empirical, analytical and interpretive studies, as well as critical theory and action research. In 2002, Elsevier launched Library Connect, a new initiative bringing together many of Elsevier's library-focused efforts.
