The field of computer virus prevention has rapidly taken an important position in our technological and information society. Viral attacks increase year after year, and antiviral efforts continually face new challenges. Beneficial applications of technologies based on scientific computer virology are still very limited. The theoretical aspects of the virus problem are only rarely considered, although many interesting and important open problems still exist. Little proactive research is focused on predicting the future of viral attacks. The Journal in Computer Virology is an independent scientific and technical journal dedicated to viral and antiviral computer technologies. Both theoretical and experimental aspects will be considered; papers emphasizing the theoretical aspects are especially welcome. The topics covered by this journal include, but are certainly not limited to: - Mathematical aspects and theoretical fundamentals of computer virology - Algorithmics and computer virology - Computer immunology and biological models for computers - Reverse engineering - Viral technologies - Antiviral technologies - Cryptologic techniques and tools in computer virology - Steganographic techniques and tools in computer virology - Applications in computer virology - Virology and IDS In addition, since computational problems are of practical interest, papers on the computational aspects of computer virology are welcome. It is expected that the areas covered by this journal will change as new technologies, methodologies, challenges and applications develop. The aim of the Journal in Computer Virology is to promote constructive research in computer virology by publishing technical and scientific results related to this research area. Submitted papers will be judged primarily by their content, their originality and their technical and scientific quality. Contributions should comprise novel and previousl, y unpublished material. However, prior publication in conference proceedings of an abstract, summary, or other abbreviated, preliminary form of the material should not preclude publication in this journal when notice of such prior or concurrent publication is given with the submission. In addition to full-length theoretical and technical articles, short communications or notes are acceptable. Survey papers will be accepted with a prior invitation only. Special issues devoted to a single topic are also planned. The policy of the journal is to maintain strict referring procedures, to perform a high quality peer-review of each submitted paper, and to send notification to the author(s) with as short a delay as possible. Accepted papers will normally be published within one year of submission at the latest. The journal will be published four times a year. Every submitted paper will be anonymously peer-reviewed according to the following rules: - Invited paper with board member as (co)author: at least one reviewer, - Regular paper with no board member as (co)author: three reviewers, - Regular papers with board member as (co)author: four reviewers. Note: As far as new viral techniques are concerned, the journal strongly encourages authors to consider algorithmic aspects rather than the actual source code of a particular virus. Nonetheless, papers containing illustrative excerpts of viral source codes may be accepted provided that a scientific approach is maintained and that inclusion of these excerpts is strictly necessary for the presentation of the research. No paper containing a complete viral source code will be considered or accepted. The final objective is, once again, proactive defence. A prize of 500 euros will be awarded to the best paper every year. The journal will be published by Springer France.

The Journal of Materials Processing Technology covers the processing techniques used in manufacturing components from metals and other materials. The journal aims to publish full research papers of original, significant and rigorous work and so to contribute to increased production efficiency and improved component performance.Areas of interest to the journal include:• Casting, forming and machining• Additive processing and joining technologies• The evolution of material properties under the specific conditions met in manufacturing processes• Surface engineering when it relates specifically to a manufacturing process• Design and behavior of equipment and toolsThe core interest of the journal is the processing of metals, but we also cover other materials, where the article is focused on the influence of the process on the materials, and where there are not other more appropriate dedicated journals. For example ductile forming of polymers if of interest, but the influence of polymer composition on properties is well covered in dedicated polymer journals.A typical article will examine the influence of process design, tool design, or process operating conditions on the properties of the material or the future performance of the equipment. Most articles combine appropriate quantitative analysis with well designed experiments. The sciences of materials, tribology and thermodynamics are well covered in other dedicated journals, so these topics are of interest to this journal only when applied specifically to give insight into the processing techniques used in manufacturing components. For example, processes for engineering surfaces are of interest, but the analysis of friction is well covered by specialised journals of wear or tribology.The journal's Editorial Policy defines our basis for considering submissions. Typical published articles will contribute significant new transferable knowledge in the form of (a) an innovation or (b) a new insight into material processing in the form of a transferable qualitative or quantitative explanation of a difference between experimental measurements and the predictions of existing theory. 'Transferable' knowledge applies to materials or processing conditions broader than those tested within the article.The Journal of Materials Processing Technology generally does not accept papers in the following areas:• Simulation with no experimental verification and/or which gives no new insight into the process• Experimental reports which do not provide a convincing analytical or physical explanation of observed behaviour• Topics that properly belong to the materials science literature. Examples include the synthesis of materials, chemical experiments and studies of material composition.• The analysis of material properties, surfaces or product performance without reference to the processing which caused them.• Statistical methods or techniques from Artificial Intelligence which treat the process as a black box.• The operation of equipment, without reference to materials (such as tool path design in CNC machining), or the management of factory systems.As stated in the journal's editorial policy, the Journal of Materials Processing Technology does not accept multiple-part papers, short communications or case studies.Papers submitted to the journal will only be considered if they have been prepared according to the journal's Guide for Authors.

NORA is an interdisciplinary journal of gender and women's studies and a conduit for high-quality research from, and across, all disciplines. Rooted in the politics of its Nordic location, the journal recognizes and conveys in particular the situatedness of Nordic feminist research. NORA puts emphasis on the various Nordic positions of feminist research, but simultaneously for its transnational entanglements. The focus of this multidisciplinary journal is the synthesis of research and application to promote positive development across the life span and across the globe. The journal publishes research that generates descriptive and explanatory knowledge about dynamic and reciprocal person-environment interactions essential to informed public dialogue, social policy, and preventive and development optimizing interventions. This includes research relevant to the development of individuals and social systems across the life span -- including the wide range of familial, biological, societal, cultural, physical, ecological, political and historical settings of human development.The applied developmental science orientation is defined by three conjoint emphases. The applied aspect reflects its direct implication for what individuals, families, practitioners, and policymakers do. The developmental aspect emphasizes a focus on systematic and successive changes within individual and social systems that occur across the life span. This assumption stresses the importance of understanding normative and atypical processes as they emerge within different developmental periods and across diverse biological, physical, social, cultural and political settings. The science aspect underscores the need to utilize a range of research methods to collect reliable and objective information in a systematic manner to test the validity of theory and application. The convergence of these three aspects leads to a fostering of a reciprocal relationship between theory and application as a cornerstone of applied developmental science, one wherein empirically based, developmental theory not only guides intervention strategies and social policy, but is influenced by the outcome of these activities. Furthermore, the convergence calls for a multidisciplinary perspective aimed at integrating information and skills drawn from relevant biological, medical, social, and behavioral science disciplines. Given this multidisciplinary orientation, the journal publishes hypothesis-generating as well as hypothesis-testing research employing any of a diverse array of rigorous qualitative as well as quantitative methodologies - multivariate-longitudinal studies, demographic analyses, secondary analyses of large data sets, evaluation research, intensive measurement studies, ethnographic interpretations, laboratory experiments, analyses of policy and/or policy engagement studies, or animal comparative studies - when they have important implications for the application of developmental science across the human life span. Manuscripts pertinent to the diversity of development throughout the life span -- cross-national and cross-cultural studies, systematic studies of psychopathology, and studies pertinent to gender, ethnic, and racial diversity -- are particularly welcome. The journal does not typically publish pilot studies. The journal welcomes papers in all topics of hydraulics, in particular articles on sustainable water management, water-health issues, environmental hydraulics, eco-hydraulics, coastal engineering and integration of hydraulics with hydrology. Inter-disciplinary problems and linkage of theory to field application are particularly encouraged. Solutions of water problems in the form of prediction models, flow simulations, engineering systems, monitoring, management strategies covering basic scientific investigations and/or experimental studies of flow behaviour, hydrodynamics, fate and transport of aquatic constituents, and related biological and chemical processes are all within the scope of the Journal.

The unique features of the Asia-Pacific region in terms of population density, economic growth, landscape, tradition and history require special treatment of water problems in the region. Each research article in the journal will contain a section describing actual or potential applications to the Asia-Pacific region. This will provide an effective forum for technical exchanges, joint projects, and technology transfer.

In addition to research articles, the journal also publishes review papers, invited papers, book reviews and technical communications. Special issues containing selected papers presented at the biennial IAHR-APD Congresses, in particular the IAHR-APD award papers, will be a regular feature of the journal.

Research articles: should be original contributions reporting a complete research work leading to the understanding and/or application of hydraulic knowledge based on theoretical, experimental, computational and/or other approaches. Papers combining theory and experiments or combining basic and applied research are strongly welcome.

Review papers: cover all important issues in hydraulics and water problems, and their application.

Technical communications: report large-scale or innovative hydraulic or water-related projects/issues in the Asia-Pacific region. Communications discussing scientific and technical views on particular issues and problems are also encouraged.

Invited papers: provide a forum for experienced researchers to share their experience and expertise to the Asia-Pacific forum.

MEDICAL IMPLANTS are being used in every organ of the human body. Ideally, medical implants must have biomechanical properties comparable to those of autogenous tissues without any adverse effects. In each anatomic site, studies of the long-term effects of medical implants must be undertaken to determine accurately the safety and performance of the implants. Today, implant surgery has become an interdisciplinary undertaking involving a number of skilled and gifted specialists. For example, successful cochlear implants will involve audiologists, audiological physicians, speech and language therapists, otolaryngologists, nurses, neuro-otologists, teachers of the deaf, hearing therapists, cochlear implant manufacturers, and others involved with hearing-impaired and deaf individuals. A similar list of specialists can be identified for each implant site, from dentistry to cardiovascular surgery. Consequently, scholarly work from all disciplines involved in implants is welcome. Realizing the interdisciplinary components of successful implant programs, we have considerably expanded the number of members of the Editorial Board. These gifted scholars are recognized as leaders in the field of implants. Each member has been listed with careful identification of academic title, institution, and mailing addresses. Because the ultimate success of implants depends on daily interactive communication, the email addresses of each Editorial Board member has been listed. During the next year, we will announce the names of 35 distinguished scholars from across the world who will be joining our Editorial Board. This new scholarly team will provide conceptual scientific information on implants that will further strengthen the exciting scientific information in this journal. The ability to predict the long-term in vivo performance of medical implants is of vital interest. The extrapolation of in vitro data to the in vivo environment remains largely unproven. Among the major challenges are our limited ability to simulate the complexities of the biological milieu; the current lack of reliable computer modeling of in vivo performance characteristics of implants; and difficulties in evaluating the synergistic contributions of materials, design features, and therapeutic drug regimens. The aims of the Journal of Long-Term Effects of Medical Implants are a better understanding of the mechanisms of failure of preclinically tested medical implants during long-term in vivo service life, both in appropriate animal models and in humans; and establishing an effective linkage between preclinical and clinical studies. Of particular interest are original, critical analyses of data of retrieved implants, interpretive discussions of data based on invasive and noninvasive procedures, and computer modeling of in vivo performance. Also of interest are articles on healthcare technology assessment involving implants and their social impact and economic consequences. The journal will also publish guest editorials, letters to the Editor, and book reviews. All articles are subject to peer review by at least two referees.

Preventive Veterinary Medicine is one of the leading international resources for scientific reports on animal health programs and preventive veterinary medicine. The journal follows the guidelines for standardizing and strengthening the reporting of biomedical research which are available from the CONSORT, MOOSE, PRISMA, REFLECT, STARD, and STROBE statements.
