Journal of Management and Governance

ISSN: 1385-3457eISSN: 1572-963X

The Journal of Management and Governance (JMG) is an international journal dedicated to advancing the understanding of corporate governance issues within and throughout privately-held firms, publicly-held corporations and government-controlled organizations. The journal is devoted to exploring the links between management and governance through both theoretical analyses and empirical investigations to improve the understanding of all the rules, codes, principles, practices, processes, mechanisms, structure and relationships, as well as institutions, networks and individuals affecting the way firms and organizations are managed, administered and controlled. Since corporate governance is a multi-faceted subject, the journal aims to analyze a broad spectrum of topics and issues related to the management and governance of firms and organizations: strategies and decision-making: accounting, reporting and information control: measurement issues in governance: relational, cognitive and behavioural based: institutional economics. JMG intends to act as an arena of scientific debate within and among academic and professional networks of researchers with a strong interest in investigating how knowledge, preferences and performance are formed and how they influence governance and management practices and policies. Contributions from all areas of business administration (accounting and control, general and strategic management, organizational theory and behaviour, finance and banking) and manuscripts concerning both the private and the public sectors are welcome to the extent that they contribute to these general issues and to the understanding of governance thus broadly defined. JMG is international in authorship and editorship. It follows the internationally shared norms of blind review and research quality standards, but it distinctively and deliberately adheres to a constructive rather than destructive review process approach. The j, ournal has various paper formats and methods. Any research strategy is recognised, as long as it effectively addresses the issue at hand and rigorously adheres to the methodology adopted, in survey research or simulation, a case study or a statistical analysis. NanoEthics: Studies of New and Emerging Technologies

ISSN: 1871-4757eISSN: 1871-4765

Rationale Nanoscale technologies are currently surrounded by both hype and fear. Optimists suggest that these technologies are desperately needed to solve problems of terrorism, global warming, the shortage of clean water, land degradation and health. Pessimists fear the loss of privacy and loss of autonomy, 'grey goo' and weapons of mass destruction, and serious environmental and health risks. There is also concern about the fair distribution of the costs and benefits of the technology. The field needs a forum for informed discussion of ethical and social issues related to nanotechnology to counterbalance popular discussions and fragmented representation of opinions and findings. NanoEthics: Ethics for Technologies that Converge at the Nanoscale provides this forum. Nature of the journal This journal will be a multidisciplinary forum for exploration of issues presented by converging technology applications. While the central focus of the journal will be on the ethical issues, it is recognized that these discussions must be informed by, at least, the physical, biological and social sciences and the law. Focus NanoEthics: Ethics for Technologies that Converge at the Nanoscale will focus on the philosophically and scientifically rigorous examination of the ethical and societal considerations and the public and policy concerns inherent in nanotechnology research and development. These issues include both individual and societal problems, and include individual health, wellbeing and human enhancement, human integrity and autonomy, distribution of the costs and benefits, threats to culture and tradition and to political and economic stability. Additionally there are meta-issues including the neutrality or otherwise of technology, designing technology in a value-sensitive way, and the control of scientific research. Re, adership and Editorial Board This journal will be of interest to researchers, scholars and students in the various disciplines related to nanotechnology, and to scientific and technological policymakers. The composition of the editorial board reflects the multidisciplinary approach of the journal.

The journal accepts three different types of submissions:
1. Methods papers that outline new methodology in the areas of GIS, spatial statistics, exposure science, and/or epidemiology;
2. Case Study/Applications papers where recently developed methodology is applied to novel applications with a clear exposure/disease focus; and
3. Short reports where a) they are around 4-8 text pages in length b) they focus on an important novel development and c) the development should be capable of description within the page length. Word

ISSN: 0043-7956eISSN: 2373-5112

WORD, a quarterly academic journal of linguistics published online and in print, is the publication of the International Linguistic Association (ILA). Founded in 1943 as the Linguistic Circle of New York, the association became one of the main sources of new ideas in American Linguistics at that time. Its journal WORD was founded in 1945 with a mission to disseminate the scholarly discussion of the day and to become the journal of record for general linguistics. During several decades of intellectual ferment in linguistics, the scholarship published by WORD continued to record the expansion of linguistic ideas — both theoretical and applied. Today, WORD continues its broadly-based mission to reflect and record contemporary linguistic scholarship.

Over the years, WORD has been privileged to serve as a platform for introducing groundbreaking scholarship in linguistics. Among these, Jean Berko Gleason’s Wug test debuted in WORD in 1958 – “The Child’s Learning of English Morphology” (Volume 14, 1958); Charles Ferguson’s “Diglossia” was published in WORD (Volume 15, 1959); M.A.K. Halliday’s first journal paper on Systemic-Functional Linguistics  – “Categories of the theory of grammar” – appeared in WORD (Volume 17, 1961); and William Labov’s very first journal article – “The social motivation of a sound change” – was in WORD (Volume 19, 1963).

WORD adopts an eclectic approach to publishing scholarship in linguistics, welcoming original, interesting, and insightful contributions from the wide range of scholarship that is linguistics today.

Each issue contains articles and reviews. Occasionally, special issues on specific topics are produced.

Peer Review Policy
All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by at least two independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double-blind and submission is online via Email to editorword@cityu.edu.hk
