Journal Guide

The mission of the Journal of Nonlinear Science is to publish papers that augment the fundamental ways we describe, model, and predict nonlinear phenomena. It features papers that make an original contribution to at least one technical area and illuminate issues beyond that area's boundaries. Papers can be oriented toward theory, experimentation, algorithms, numerical simulations, or applications as long as the work is creative and sound. In turn, papers oriented toward experimentation, numerical simulations, or applications must not simply report results without an indication of what a theoretical explanation might be. In addition, because ours is a multidisciplinary subject, at minimum the introduction to the paper should be readable to a broad range of scientists and not only to specialists in the subject area.

The scope of the Journal includes advances in the state-of-the-art of optical networking science, technology, and engineering. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, analyses, and economic studies) and practical contributions (including optical networking experiments, prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. Subareas of interest include the architecture and design of optical networks, optical network survivability and security, software-defined optical networking, elastic optical networks, data and control plane advances, network management related innovation, and optical access networks.  Enabling technologies and their applications are suitable topics only if the results are shown to directly impact optical networking beyond simple point-to-point networks.

The Journal of Pastoral Theology was established in 1990 by the Society for Pastoral Theology to:

• Further the understanding of pastoral theology as a theological discipline and to clarify the nature of the discipline;
• Maintain a view of pastoral theology as a constructive theology that emerges from the exercise of caring relationships, with attention both to present lived experience and to knowledge derived from the past;
• Provide an intentional forum for the voices of diverse persons, women and men, of many cultural and ethnic backgrounds;
• Foster multi-cultural understandings of issues in the discipline;
• Promote and encourage multi-discipline and multi-cultural research in the field of pastoral theology;
• Provide resources for those who teach and those who study, through recording current research and assessing the relevant literature;
• Provide for the construction of sound theological principles for guidance and critique of practices of pastoral and spiritual care; and
• Work creatively, through synthesis and construction, to define the frontiers and parameters of the discipline.

This journal provides a forum for original papers and reviews dealing with nutrition in normal and abnormal functions of the alimentary tract and its associated organs, including the salivary glands, pancreas, gallbladder, and liver. Particular emphasis is on development and its relation to infant and childhood nutrition. Articles are also included on mechanistic issues involved in normal and abnormal physiology of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as on the use of special tools such as endoscopy, liver biopsy, ultrasound, and computed tomography in pediatric diagnosis. The Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics B highlights important recent pediatric orthopaedic developments from the world's leading clinical and research institutions. It delivers in-depth perspectives on all aspects of pediatric orthopaedic disorders. The Journal of Phase Equilibria and Diffusion (JPED) focuses on the crystallographic, chemical, diffusion, and other kinetic properties of phases. It features critical phase diagram evaluations on scientifically and industrially important alloy systems, authored by international experts, as well as critically reviewed basic and applied research results, and a survey of current literature. JPED covers the significance of diagrams as well as new research techniques, equipment, data evaluation, nomenclature, presentation, and other aspects of phase diagram preparation and use. It also offers information on such phenomena as kinetic control of equilibrium, coherency effects, impurity effects, and thermodynamic and crystallographic characteristics.

JPhys Photonics is a new open access journal that will highlight the most significant and exciting advances in research into the properties and applications of light. It aims to bring together scientists from a range of disciplines, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.

The Journal of Public Health invites submission of papers on any aspect of public health research and practice.We welcome papers on the theory and practice of the whole spectrum of public health across the domains of health improvement, health protection and service improvement, with a particular focus on the translation of science into action.Papers on the role of public health ethics and law are welcome. The Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry (JRNC) publishes original papers, letters, review papers and short communications on nuclear chemistry. Journal of Radiological Protection publishes articles (in English) on all aspects of radiological protection, including non-ionising as well as ionising radiations. Fields of interest range from research, development and theory to operational matters, education and training. The very wide spectrum of its topics includes: dosimetry, instrument development, specialized measuring techniques, epidemiology, biological effects (in vivo and in vitro) and risk and environmental impact assessments.

The peer-reviewed Journal of Religion in Europe (JRE) provides a forum for multi-disciplinary research into the complex dynamics of religious discourses and practices in Europe, both historical and contemporary. The journal’s underlying idea is that religion in Europe is characterized by a variety of pluralisms. There is a pluralism of religious communities that actively engage with one another. Additionally, there is a pluralism of societal systems, such as nations, law, politics, economy, science, and art, all of which interact with religious systems. There is also a pluralism of scholarly discourses, including religious studies, legal studies, history, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and psychology, that are addressing the religious dynamics involved. JRE encourages new research that responds to the changing European dimension of social and cultural studies regarding these pluralisms. .

It provides an opportunity for colleagues from all over the world to understand the current developments in the fields of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, civil engineering, mining engineering, hydraulic engineering, petroleum engineering, engineering geology, etc.

The JRMGE aims at promoting the international academic exchange and functions as a bridge between fundamental developments and practical applications.

The topics covered by the JRMGE include new theories, new technologies, new methods and experiences, in-situ and laboratory tests, new developments, case studies, and timely reviews on selected subjects in rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering.

The Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP) is a monthly peer-reviewed publication integrating clinical research papers and case reports from international sources, covering all aspects of medicine and surgery relating to dogs, cats and other small animals. These papers facilitate the dissemination and implementation of new ideas and techniques relating to clinical veterinary practice, with the ultimate aim of promoting best practice. The Journal of Structural and Functional Genomics (JSFG) provides a forum for the exchange and discussion of new data in structural and functional genomics. All submitted manuscripts are subject to peer review and in view of the urgent nature of this publication, papers will be posted on-line first. The scope of JSFG includes: Determination of the three-dimensional structures of gene products including those with unknown biological functions. Research and new methodologies for structural genomics including informatics, protein sample production, and structure determination. Discussion of results of structural genomics projects.
