The primary aims of the Journal are to provide a means of communicating the advances being made in the areas of biomechanics and biomedical engineering and to stimulate interest in the continually emerging computer based technologies which are being applied in these multidisciplinary subjects. The Journal will also provide a focus for the importance of integrating the disciplines of engineering with medical technology and clinical expertise. Such integration will have a major impact on health care in the future. High quality research articles form the main body of the Journal. These contributed papers will cover both the engineering and clinical aspects of computer methods in biomedical engineering. Topics covered include the mechanical response of bone and bone/tissue/implant analysis, tissue mechanics, mechanobiology, modelling of biomaterials, material identification, human body impact, motion analysis, kinesiology, mechanotransduction, computer assisted surgery, surgical simulation, computer animation, computational and systems biology and medical imaging. Dental mechanics, biofluids, cardiovascular mechanics, soft-tissue modelling and joint/ligament mechanics are also topics of primary importance. As well as providing a forum where advances in these complex areas can be published and discussed in open academic debate, the Journal also contains special issues and feature articles, techical notes and reviews, and short communications.

The Journal of Educational & Psychological Consultation (JEPC) provides a forum for improving the scientific understanding of consultation and for describing practical strategies to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of consultation services. Consultation is broadly defined as a process that facilitates problem solving for individuals, groups, and organizations. Statistics in Biosciences (SIB) is published twice a year in print and electronic form. It aims at development and application of statistical methods and their interface with other quantitative methods, such as computational and mathematical methods, in biological and life science, health science, and biopharmaceutical and biotechnological science. SIB publishes scientific papers and review articles in four sections, with the first two sections as the primary sections. Original Articles publish novel statistical and quantitative methods in biosciences. The Bioscience Case Studies and Practice Articles publish papers that advance statistical practice in biosciences, such as case studies, innovative applications of existing methods that further understanding of subject-matter science, evaluation of existing methods and data sources. Review Articles publish papers that review an area of statistical and quantitative methodology, software, and data sources in biosciences. Commentaries provide perspectives of research topics or policy issues that are of current quantitative interest in biosciences, reactions to an article published in the journal, and scholarly essays. Substantive science is essential in motivating and demonstrating the methodological development and use for an article to be acceptable. Articles published in SIB share the goal of promoting evidence-based real world practice and policy making through effective and timely interaction and communication of statisticians and quantitative researchers with subject-matter scientists in biosciences.

The Journals of Gerontology were the first journals on aging published in the United States. Disability & Society is an international journal providing a focus for debate about such issues as human rights, discrimination, definitions, policy and practices. It appears against a background of change in the ways in which disability is viewed and responded to. Definitions of disability are more readily acknowledged to be relative; segregated approaches are seen as inadequate and unacceptable - placing greater emphasis on community care and inclusion. However, policy intentions may not have the desired effects on the realities of everyday practice and policy changes themselves may be merely cosmetic, or appropriate but unfounded. The Journal publishes articles that represent a wide range of perspectives including the importance of the voices of disabled people. As well as main articles there is a Current Issues section that is intended to give people the opportunity to write about things that concern them in a less formal and academic way. The pieces should be interesting, controversial or even polemical and may encourage others to respond. They do not need to meet the conventional academic criteria but they should not be personal attacks or libellous. The word limit is 2000. FEBS Open Bio is an online-only Open Access journal for the rapid publication of research articles in molecular and cellular life sciences in both health and disease. The birth of the Journal of Robotic Surgery is perfectly timed as the field of robotics has evolved past its infancy and has proven itself to be a useful and lasting innovation. The use of robotics in surgery is now broad-based across multiple surgical specialties and will undoubtedly expand over the next decades as new technical innovation and techniques increase the applicability of its use.
