RSC Chemical Biology is a gold open access journal dedicated to publishing and disseminating exceptional, breakthrough research and high-quality reviews at the interface of chemistry and biology. We welcome contributions from across the breadth of the chemical biology field. Statistics in Biopharmaceutical Research accepts papers that discuss appropriate statistical methodology and information regarding the use of statistics in all phases of research, development, and practice in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, device, and diagnostics industries. Articles should focus on the development of novel statistical methods, novel applications of current methods, or the innovative application of statistical principles that can be used by statistical practitioners in these disciplines. Areas of application may include statistical methods for drug discovery, including papers that address issues of multiplicity, sequential trials, adaptive designs, etc.; preclinical and clinical studies; genomics and proteomics; bioassay; biomarkers and surrogate markers; models and analyses of drug history, including pharmacoeconomics, product life cycle, detection of adverse events in clinical studies, and postmarketing risk assessment; regulatory guidelines, including issues of standardization of terminology (e.g., CDISC), tolerance and specification limits related to pharmaceutical practice, and novel methods of drug approval; and detection of adverse events in clinical and toxicological studies. Tutorial articles also are welcome. Articles should include demonstrable evidence of the usefulness of this methodology (presumably by means of an application).

Trends in Anaesthesia and Critical Care aims to be a leading biomedical review journal, providing reviews and comment on highly topical subjects and the latest breakthroughs in basic, clinical and translational research. This includes basic and clinical research aimed at understanding disease processes and clinical practice of importance to anaesthesia and critical care. Psychology & Sexuality is an important new international journal which publishes high-quality quantitative and qualitative psychological research on sexualities. The journal aims to advance knowledge and understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, heterosexual and queer issues in psychology and allied disciplines. Environmental Sociology is dedicated to applying and advancing the sociological imagination in relation to a wide variety of environmental challenges, controversies and issues, at every level from the global to local, from ‘world culture’ to diverse local perspectives. As an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal, Environmental Sociology aims to stretch the conceptual and theoretical boundaries of both environmental and mainstream sociology, to highlight the relevance of sociological research for environmental policy and management, to disseminate the results of sociological research, and to engage in productive dialogue and debate with other disciplines in the social, natural and ecological sciences.

For more than 30 years, the International Journal of Environmental Studies has been pre-eminent in its field. The environment is understood to comprise the natural and the man-made, and their interactions; including such matters as pollution, health effects, analytical methods, political approaches, social impacts etc. Papers favouring an interdisciplinary approach are preferred, because the evidence of 30 years appears to be that many intellectual tools and many causes and effects are at issue in any environmental problem - and its solution. This does not mean that a single focus or a narrow view is unwelcome; provided always that the evidence is indicated and the method is robust. Pragmatic decision-making and applicable policies are subjects of interest, together with the problems in establishing facts about dynamic systems where long periods of observation and precise measurement may be difficult to secure.In other words, a systems or holistic approach to the environment and a scientific analysis are complementary, and the distinction between 'hard' and 'soft' science is bridged in most of the papers published.These may be on any item in the agenda of environmental science: land, water, food, conservation, population, risk analysis, energy, economics of ecological and non-ecological approaches, social advocacy of arguments for change, legal measures, implications of urbanism, energy choices, waste disposal, recycling, transport systems and other issues of mass society. Aims: Kotuitui aims to showcase the increasing number of collaborative research endeavours across the social sciences. Although of particular relevance to New Zealand, the journal's subject matter is of worldwide relevance and interest to researchers in universities, research institutes, and other centres. The Maori name 8216;Kotuitui' means 8216;interweaving', and reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the journal. Scope of submissions: Kotuitui publishes original research papers, short communications, book reviews, and letters. We welcome submissions from across all social science disciplines. Although the journal will predominately highlight research in the New Zealand context, international submissions are welcome. The journal's subject matter includes contributions from long-established fields (including psychology, economics, human geography, sociology, education, political science, anthropology, social work, population studies, and history); as well as more recent disciplinary and inter-disciplinary fields such as public policy, development studies, conflict resolution, gender studies, international relations, security studies, human rights, cultural and ethnic studies, ethics, criminology, health, sustainability, communications, and media studies.Authors are invited to submit research papers from all social science disciplines for consideration. Papers should be of high quality that can be expected to attract citations from other researchers, both international and domestic. Measurement is devoted to the interdisciplinary study of measurement in the human sciences. Each issue of the journal features a focus article, along with commentaries that embody dialogue and debate across multiple perspectives. The journal’s overarching theme is to promote the development, critique, and enrichment of the concepts and practices of measurement. Through peer commentary and authors’responses, Measurement provides an opportunity for discussion that is largely unavailable outside the specific authors and reviewers of a particular manuscript.

The focus articles (which may be single papers or sets of linked papers) address important issues in the field, and may be in one of the following genres:

• a report and/or discussion of empirical research with a broader scope and/or implication than found in other measurement-associated journals;
• a significant theoretical article that systematizes or gives new perspectives on a body of theory, research, and/or practice in measurement;
• a novel interpretation, synthesis, or critique of measurement work;
• a summary and commentary on a field of application of measurement that either is a significant contribution to measurement in that field, or which contains an important message for measurement work in general;
• a rigorous, evidence-based critique of measurement theory and practices from outside the discipline, or from within measurement.

This journal is intended for social scientists with an interest in the study of measurement, and its theory, application, and criticism, including psychometricians, sociometricians, mathematical psychologists, clinical psychologists, educational curriculum developers, policy researchers, educational and psychological test developers and assessment designers, and medical and public health professionals.

Neuropharmacology publishes high quality, original research and review articles within the discipline of neuroscience, especially articles with a neuropharmacological component. However, papers within any area of neuroscience will be considered. The journal does not usually accept clinical research, although preclinical neuropharmacological studies in humans may be considered. The journal only considers submissions in which the chemical structures and compositions of experimental agents are readily available in the literature or disclosed by the authors in the submitted manuscript. Only in exceptional circumstances will natural products be considered, and then only if the preparation is well defined by scientific means. Neuropharmacology publishes articles of any length (original research and reviews).Neuropharmacology also publishes succinct topical reviews on subjects within its remit. These reviews (of between 3000 and 5000 words) are commissioned by the Editorial Team or arise after correspondence with potential authors. Optimal Control Applications & Methods provides a forum for papers on the full range of optimal and optimization based control theory and related control design methods. The aim is to encourage new developments in control theory and design methodologies that will lead to real advances in control applications. Papers are also encouraged on the development, comparison and testing of computational algorithms for solving optimal control and optimization problems. The scope also includes papers on optimal estimation and filtering methods which have control related applications. Finally, it will provide a focus for interesting optimal control design studies and report real applications experience covering problems in implementation and robustness. The subject involves the optimization of systems described by differential or difference equations and even covers hybrid systems and non-linear programming and optimization methods. The class of problems covered includes: static and dynamic optimization, linear-quadratic control, nonlinear optimal control, optimal systems design, dynamic programming, optimal stochastic control, periodic optimal control, optimal estimation, multi-criteria and multiple model optimal control, singular perturbation methods, repetitive control, the optimal control of large-scale or distributed systems, and time-delay systems. Papers on the theory of systems with great applications potential will be particularly encouraged including papers on areas such as predictive control, optimal adaptive control, nonlinear, safety critical and reliable control .
