IJPA is an international, research-driven, peer-reviewed, publication aimed at exploring the latest developments in public administration and management 8211; translating theory for practice and practice into theory. Our aim is to be truly global in scope, covering developed, emerging and transitional states and all areas of public activity. We welcome both individual country-based and especially comparative work. Our target audience is not just scholars, but also policy-makers and practitioners, including aspiring public sector leaders engaged in education and research in the growing global MPA community. We want to draw on the latest research 8211; whether carried out by scholars or practitioners or indeed collaborations. We aim 8211; and encourage 8211; the reporting of this research to be as clear and accessible as possible to the widest possible audience, whilst maintaining the necessary rigour and scholarly standards. IJPA will include not just cutting edge research, but also: feature interviews or opinion pieces from leading scholars and policy-makers; a resources section for scholars and practitioners; occasional symposia and debates; and themed issues of topics of special interest. Proposals in all these areas are always welcome. Colin Talbot, Richard Common, Farhad Hossain and Carole Talbot, EditorsResources SectionIn the Resources Section of IJPA we intend to include:traditional book reviews - of individual publications;longer group reviews - of 2-3 books on a common themebook alerts 8211; short reviews of new booksresource alerts and reviews 8211; short notices and reviews of major new (or existing) resources such as websites, major reports or other non-book publications from national or international sources, etc.country reports 8211; short reports (2-3 pages) updating the international research and policy-maker communities on major reform initiatives We welcome contributions and suggestions in all these areas. These should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief, Colin Talbot (colin.talbot@mbs.ac.uk).Peer Review Policy: IJPA is team edited by four people. Every article is first read by one of the Editors. If the article meets the general expectations of a scholarly article, it is usually sent out to two blind reviewers. It can then be accepted, resubmitted with attention to the reviewer(s)' comments, or rejected. If two reviewers have widely different conclusions on the acceptability of the article, it is sent to an additional reviewer or a decision is taken by the Editorial team.Publication office: Taylor & Francis, Inc., 325 Chestnut Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology

ISSN: 0169-3816eISSN: 1573-0719

The Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology is an international and interdisciplinary journal providing a forum for scholarly discussion of the aging process and the problems of the aged throughout the world. The journal emphasizes discussions of research findings, theoretical issues and applied approaches that deal with non-Western populations, as well as articles that provide a comparative orientation to the study of the aging process in its social, economic, historical and biological perspectives.

The core of the journal comprises a broad range of articles dealing with non-Western societies, written from the perspectives of history, anthropology, sociology, political science, psychology, population studies, health/biology, etc. A second category of papers includes articles from Western societies comparing sub-cultural groupings or ethnic minorities such as Vietnamese, Turks, etc. Comparative studies of topics related to aging comprise the third group of articles. Such comparative analyses have been on Western and non-Western societies as well as on comparisons of Western societies, such as socialist vs. capitalist systems, for instance, or societies with different social service delivery systems. With societies becoming ever more multicultural and with many societies experiencing a `graying' of their population on a hitherto unprecedented scale, the Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology stands at the forefront of one of the most pressing issues of our times.

Alzheimer's & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring

eISSN: 2352-8729
DOAJ Logo
Alzheimer's & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring (DADM) is an open access, peer-reviewed, journal from the Alzheimer's Association® that will publish new research that reports the discovery, development and validation of instruments, technologies, algorithms, and innovative processes. Papers will cover a range of topics interested in the early and accurate detection of individuals with memory complaints and/or among asymptomatic individuals at elevated risk for various forms of memory disorders.

The expectation for published papers will be to translate fundamental knowledge about the neurobiology of the disease into practical reports that describe both the conceptual and methodological aspects of the submitted scientific inquiry. Published topics will explore the development of biomarkers, surrogate markers, and conceptual/methodological challenges. Publication priority will be given to papers that 1) describe putative surrogate markers that accurately track disease progression, 2) biomarkers that fulfill international regulatory requirements, 3) reports from large, well-characterized population-based cohorts that comprise the heterogeneity and diversity of asymptomatic individuals and 4) algorithmic development that considers multi-marker arrays (e.g., integrated-omics, genetics, biofluids, imaging, etc.) and advanced computational analytics and technologies.

Given the growing number of specialized manuscripts in the field of Alzheimer's and dementia research, DADM will provide an expanded platform to provide a) rapid communication and publication that facilitate cross-fertilization of ideas, b) integrating and translating knowledge across disciplines; disseminating basic and clinical information necessary for optimal translation of research into practical applications and interventions, c) increase knowledge in diverse areas of studies with potentials/implications for practical application related to early detection and/or interventions, d) formulating crucial experiments necessary for the rigorous testing of theories or their predictions, and e) identifying promising new directions of research and providing the impetus or the scientific foundation for new initiatives on interventions.

Distributed and Parallel Databases

ISSN: 0926-8782eISSN: 1573-7578

Distributed and parallel database technology has been the subject of intense research and development effort. Numerous practical application and commercial products that exploit this technology also exist. Since the mid-1990s, web-based information management has used distributed and/or parallel data management to replace their centralized cousins. The maturation of the field, together with the new issues that are raised by the changes in the underlying technology, requires a central focus for work in the area. Distributed and Parallel Databases provides such a focus for the presentation and dissemination of new research results, systems development efforts, and user experiences in distributed and parallel database systems. Distributed and Parallel Databases publishes papers in all the traditional as well as most emerging areas of database research, including: Data Integration, Data Sharing, Security and Privacy, Transaction Management, Process and Workflow Management, Information Extraction, Query Processin

Free Radical Research

ISSN: 1071-5762eISSN: 1029-2470

Free Radical Research aims to publish high-quality research papers, hypotheses and reviews in all areas in the fields of: • Free radicals and other reactive species in biological, clinical, environmental and other systems • Redox signalling • Antioxidants, including diet-derived antioxidants and other relevant aspects of human nutrition • Oxidative damage, mechanisms and measurement Manuscripts should contribute a significant advance to the field, supported by clearly-presented data and statistical analysis. Manuscripts should be as concise as possible subject to the need to present relevant background, data and methods. Reviewers are strongly encouraged to identify areas of the manuscript that could be shortened. FRR discourages papers that are purely descriptive (e.g. a catalogue of changes in antioxidant levels in a human disease or after administering a toxin to an animal). We also discourage ‘screening’ papers, such as the use of ‘total antioxidant activity’ assays to compare the antioxidant activities of plant extracts or herbal medicines including traditional medicines.
