Journal of Innate Immunity

ISSN: 1662-811XeISSN: 1662-8128
DOAJ Logo

Innate immunity is a growing research area that has attracted considerable attention over the last decade. It includes both passive and active mechanisms that prevent and combat infections. Despite the increasing interest in innate immunity, there has so far been no explicit forum devoted exclusively to this important and rapidly expanding field. The ''Journal of Innate Immunity'' is a new bimonthly journal that aims to cover all aspects within the area of innate immunity, including evolution of the immune system, molecular biology of cells involved in innate immunity, pattern recognition and signals of ''danger'', microbial corruption, host response and inflammation, mucosal immunity, complement and coagulation, sepsis and septic shock, molecular genomics, and development of immunotherapies. Journal of Leukocyte Biology

ISSN: 0741-5400eISSN: 1938-3673

The Journal of Leukocyte Biology (JLB) has its origins in the Journal of the Reticuloendothelial Society (JRES) and is today an increasingly highly recognized international journal reporting scientific advances in leukocyte biology. In 1922, Karl Albert Ludwig Aschoff (1866–1942) coined the term “reticuloendothelial system” (RES) [1]. The RES concept was introduced as early as 1914 by Kenji Kiyono (1855–1955). One of the most prominent characteristics of RES cells was their propensity for absorption and storage of vital stains in granular form that had been introduced into the blood in solution. .
