Microorganisms (ISSN 2076-2607) is an international, peer-reviewed open access journal which provides an advanced forum for studies related to prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms, viruses and prions. It publishes reviews, research papers and communications. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. Electronic files and software regarding the full details of the calculation or experimental procedure, if unable to be published in a normal way, can be deposited as supplementary electronic material.

Molecular Biotechnology publishes original research papers on the application of molecular biology to both basic and applied research in biotechnology. Particular areas of interest include the stability and expression of cloned gene products, cell transformation, gene cloning systems and the production of recombinant proteins, protein purification and analysis, transgenic species, developmental biology, mutation analysis, the applications of DNA fingerprinting, RNA interference, and PCR technology, microarray technology, proteomics, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, plant molecular biology, microbial genetics, gene probes and the diagnosis of disease, pharmaceuticals, therapeutic agents, vaccines, gene targeting, gene therapy, stem cell technology and tissue engineering, antisense technology, protein engineering and enzyme technology, monoclonal antibodies, glycobiology and glycomics, and agricultural biotechnology. The journal also presents review articles on subjects in these areas.

Molecular Genetics, Microbiology and Virology addresses theoretical and applied topics in molecular genetics of pro- and eukaryotes, molecular microbiology and molecular virology. The journal focuses on studies of the genetic apparatus of microorganisms, the search for genetic forms of metabolism, genetic mapping of pathogenic causative agents, investigations of the structure and functions of extrachromosomal factors of heredity and migratory genetic elements, and theoretical studies on the mechanisms of genetic regulation. Topics include the molecular and genetic elements of eukaryotic cells, the function of chromosomes and chromatin, the nature of genetic changes in malignant degeneration, hereditary diseases. Also covered are the molecular bases of virology, including viral and cellular genomes integration and viral persistence. The journal's scope of coverage includes the biotechnological production of hormones, components of antiviral vaccines, and diagnostic and therapeutic preparations.

Molecular Microbiology, the leading primary journal in microbial sciences, publishes research articles reporting the results of molecular studies of eukaryotic microorganisms and of prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea) and their viruses. Studies that include genetic, biochemical, biophysical, bioinformatic and structural analyses leading to a deeper understanding of the molecular principles underlying basic physiological processes or mechanisms are considered as potentially suitable for publication in the Journal. Topics that are considered appropriate include gene expression and regulation, pathogenicity and virulence, physiology and metabolism, synthesis of macromolecules (proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, polysaccharides, etc), cell biology and subcellular organization, membrane biogenesis and function, traffic and transport, cell-cell communication and signalling pathways, evolution and gene transfer. Molecular Microbiology also regularly commissions MicroReviews covering these areas of research, as well as occasional topical MicroCommentaries and other special interest articles. MicroMeeting Reports will also appear in forthcoming issues. These are personal accounts of the most recent and exciting developments in a particular aspect of microbial molecular biology, as presented at a recent symposium, workshop, colloquium or congress, written by one or more of the participants. Articles focused on host responses (cellular or immunological) to pathogens and on molecular aspects of microbial ecology should be directed to our sister journals Cellular Microbiology and Environmental Microbiology, respectively. Molecular Omics publishes high-quality research from across the -omics sciences that provide significant new insight into important chemical or biological problems. Topics covered by Molecular Omics include, but are not limited to, proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics, lipidomics, glycomics, metabolomics, microbiomics, sequencing technologies and bioinformatic research. Molecular Omics articles report research that significantly increases understanding or demonstrates clear functional benefits, supported by experimental validation or a novel data analytic approach. molecular oral microbiology publishes high quality research papers and reviews on fundamental or applied molecular studies of microorganisms of the oral cavity and respiratory tract, host-microbe interactions, cellular microbiology, molecular ecology, and immunological studies of oral and respiratory tract infections.Papers describing work in virology, or in immunology unrelated to microbial colonization or infection, will not be acceptable.

Mucosal Immunology is the official publication of the Society of Mucosal Immunology (SMI). It aims to provide a forum for both basic and clinical scientists to discuss all aspects of immunity and inflammation involving mucosal tissues. The journal reflects the interests of scientists studying gastrointestinal, pulmonary, nasopharyngeal, oral, ocular, and genitourinary immunology through the publication of original research articles, scholarly reviews, and timely commentaries, editorials and letters.
