Mechanisms of Ageing and Development is a multidisciplinary journal aimed at revealing the molecular, biochemical, and biological mechanisms that underlie the process of ageing and the development of age-associated disease. Criminal Justice Ethics is a journal published three times a year designed to focus greater attention on ethical issues in criminal justice by and for philosophers, criminal justice professionals, lawyers and judges, and other contributors to an informed social discourse. Its editorial scope includes topics relating to the police, the courts, corrections, and broader issues in legal philosophy that bear on criminal justice and its processes.All agents of the criminal justice system face difficult problems involving moral choice, whether they concern the use of deadly force, conformity to the rules of office, decisions to prosecute, participation in plea bargaining, representation of the guilty, the imposition of punishment, or recourse to alternative sanctions. Even the concept of criminal justice itself is rooted in our concern for the proper treatment of those accused of wrongdoing. Yet, though these subjects have provoked widespread interest among the public, their systematic analysis from a normative perspective is often neglected or discussed at a level that is detached from the institutional embodiments of such issues. Criminal Justice Ethics seeks to provide this grounded perspective, resulting in the generation of a much-needed literature. The journal serves as a forum for diverse viewpoints, and the opinions expressed in articles and reviews are not necessarily those of the editors.

The Journal of Asian Public Policy was launched in 2008. This exciting new journal focuses on one of the most vibrant regions of the contemporary world. Both China and India are now recognized to be critical players in the global economy, with economic profiles that grow on an annual basis. East Asian economies that started to develop somewhat earlier, following the Japanese lead, remain among the most important economies in the world. The emergent regions of South and Southeast Asia have many dynamic economic sectors. Public policy, governance and development issues are drawing increasing attention not only from academia but also from the wider business, professional and policy communities. Development and policy issues will be defined broadly. Comparative analysis and current policy debates will be particularly stressed. Asia will also be defined broadly to encompass an area bounded by Mongolia in the north, Indonesia in the south, Korea in the east, and Afghanistan in the west. Articles that do not have an explicit Asian focus will be considered only if they have clear relevance to an Asian readership.

Social change within the countries of Central Europe has brought major changes in agriculture. The abandonment of central planning and the introduction of the open market have created a need for the quickest possible exchange of knowledge. All countries in transition have similar problems; so a logical step is to create a shared journal. The beginning of a new millennium and the spreading of new electronic technologies creates new fields of publishing and easier access to knowledge from remote places. Besides a need for knowledge, there is a need to share problems and solutions with our neighbours but it is also equally important to keep and develop our national languages and identities. We have tried to combine such contradictory problems in one unifying electronic agricultural journal for Central and Eastern Europe. Not less important intention is to ease the demand on the present West European journals in agriculture, and to give opportunity and encouragement to Central European scientists to publish faster. The multilingual strategy of the journal accepts the world intention to preserve and support the development of national languages. The Journal publishes original articles, rapid communication of information and proceedings of scientific meetings in English, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak and Slovenian.

Evolutionary Applications is a fully peer reviewed open access journal. It publishes papers that utilize concepts from evolutionary biology to address biological questions of health, social and economic relevance. Papers are expected to employ evolutionary concepts or methods to make contributions to areas such as (but not limited to): medicine, agriculture, forestry, exploitation and management (fisheries and wildlife), aquaculture, conservation biology, environmental sciences (including climate change and invasion biology), microbiology, and toxicology. All taxonomic groups are covered from microbes, fungi, plants and animals. In order to better serve the community, we also now strongly encourage submissions of papers making use of modern molecular and genetic methods (population and functional genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenetics, quantitative genetics, association and linkage mapping) to address important questions in any of these disciplines and in an applied evolutionary framework. Theoretical, empirical, synthesis or perspective papers are welcome.

Action Learning : Research & Practice will publish articles which advance knowledge and assist the development of practice through the processes of action learning. Articles should aim to create theory, grounded in empirical observation of data and experience, that widens understanding of action learning and research in professional and organisational settings. Papers should encourage practitioners to gain new insights into their work and help them improve their effectiveness and contribution to their clients and the wider community. Action learning is grounded in the approach pioneered by Reg Revans which holds that there can be no learning without action and no knowing without the effort to practise and implement what is claimed as knowledge. Because action learning promotes the creative integration of thinking & doing, theory & practice, academic & practitioner, contributors are asked to strive to hold these often diverse perspectives together. An important question in assessing papers will be: “Is this likely to help people in the further development of their practice in working with people, organisations and communities?” Articles which cross the conventional boundaries of professions, organisations and communities are particularly welcome. The editors will also welcome responses from readers to all these contributions, and publish alternative views in the spirit of debate and discussion.

History of Philosophy of the Life Sciences is an interdisciplinary journal committed to providing an integrative approach to understanding the life sciences. In specific terms, it welcomes submissions from biologists, historians, philosophers, and scholars in the social study of science that offer broad and interdisciplinary perspectives on the development of biology, especially as these perspectives illuminate both biology’s scientific development and its larger role in society. Submissions which are collaborative and feature different disciplinary approaches are especially encouraged, as are submissions written by senior and junior scholars (including graduate students). HPLS also welcomes submissions featuring novel formats. While it is anticipated most submissions will represent recent scholarship, they may also include essays on contemporary issues or perspectives, results of unique workshops, and/or discussions featuring a wide-range of perspectives. Papers are published on the understanding that they have not been published before and are not concurrently under offer to any other journal. Authors will usually receive a decision on their articles within 3 months of receipt.The languages of the journal are English, French, German, and Italian; however, other languages can be considered. IEEE Intelligent Systems serves users, managers, developers, researchers, and purchasers who are interested in intelligent systems and artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on applications. Typically they are degreed professionals, with backgrounds in engineering, hard science, or business. The publication emphasizes current practice and experience, together with promising new ideas that are likely to be used in the near future. Sample topic areas for feature articles include knowledge-based systems, intelligent software agents, natural-language processing, technologies for knowledge management, machine learning, data mining, adaptive and intelligent robotics, knowledge-intensive processing on the Web, and social issues relevant to intelligent systems. Also encouraged are application features, covering practice at one or more companies or laboratories; full-length product stories (which require refereeing by at least three reviewers); tutorials; surveys; and case studies. The IMA Journal of Management Mathematics is a quarterly, peer reviewed, scholarly journal that publishes insightful scientific research in which Mathematics plays an important role in supporting decision making. Jurisprudence  provides a forum for scholarly writing on the philosophy of law. While demanding the utmost intellectual honesty, clarity and scholarly rigour, its editorial policy is distinctively open-minded in relation to philosophical approach. A main purpose of the journal is to encourage scholarship which explores and transcends the categories and assumptions on which contemporary jurisprudential debates are conducted, and to stimulate reflection upon traditional questions concerning the nature of law, politics and society. Jurisprudence  aims:

• to encourage research exploring the relation between questions in the philosophy of law and debates in related branches of philosophy, including but not limited to political philosophy, moral philosophy, the philosophy of religion and the philosophy of mind;
• to support study of the intellectual history of the philosophy of law, both for its own sake and in order to shed light on contemporary jurisprudential questions;

Environmental Evidence facilitates rapid publication of systematic reviews and evidence syntheses on the effectiveness of environmental management interventions and on the impact of human activities on the environment.Environmental management is now a mainstream political activity with major resources being committed to growing challenges related to climate change, natural resources, ecosystem services and human wellbeing. Despite the large and rapidly increasing amounts of primary environmental research, the potential of the data to address questions of concern to policy makers and managers has not been fully realised. The Collaboration for Environmental Evidence (CEE) promotes and facilitates the conduct of systematic reviews and synthesis of evidence, and seeks to make this information more accessible to all.Environmental Evidence facilitates rapid publication of systematic reviews and evidence syntheses on the effectiveness of environmental management interventions and on the impact of human activities on the environment. Objective use of science to inform policy is a major aim and to that end we also publish policy briefs based on systematic reviews and systematic mapping of evidence. We also wish to encourage improvements in evidence synthesis methodology and encourage submissions that promise advances in this field.Our scope covers all forms of environmental management and environmental impacts and therefore spans the natural and social sciences.
