This journal is 100% open access, which means that all content is freely available without charge to users or their institutions. All articles are currently published under Creative Commons licenses (either CCBY or CCBY-NC-ND), and the author retains copyright. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles published under CCBY, or use them for any other lawful purpose, as long as proper attribution is given.    Articles published under CCBY-NC-ND are also available to users under the same conditions as CCBY, but the reuse cannot be for commercial purposes or change the work in any way. 

Open access is provided through the payment of an article processing charge (APC) paid after acceptance. APCs are often financed by an author's institution or the funder supporting their research.

The articles in this journal are peer reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE PSPB Operations Manual (sections 8.2.1.C & 8.2.2.A). Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.

The Journal of Development Economics publishes original research papers relating to all aspects of economic development - from immediate policy concerns to structural problems of underdevelopment. The emphasis is on quantitative or analytical work, which is novel and relevant. The Journal does not publish book reviews. We welcome papers that take up questions in development economics that are of interest to the general readers of the journal, and then use data from a particular country or region to answer them. However, we do not publish articles that are essentially in-depth studies of a specific country, region, case, or event whose findings are unlikely to be of great interest to the general readers of the journal. In our review process we pre-screen all papers, some of which are immediately rejected. This includes papers that are not considered to be a good fit in terms of the topic or the methodology even though development is a broad field and sometimes this is a matter of subjective judgment. This also includes papers that fall short of our high standards, in terms of the contribution or value added to the literature, or in terms of methodological rigor. Under normal circumstances, an author cannot submit (either s/he directly or through a co-author) more than three papers within any 12 month period. Papers that are once rejected by the JDE will not be considered for publication again, even if the authors use a new dataset or a new model. Mechatronics is the synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronic control and systems thinking in the design of products and manufacturing processes. The journal can, therefore, present a wide view on all aspects of today's radio engineering and science, initiate a mutual inspiration between disciplines; and support their cohesion in the frame of complex radio electronic systems.The Radioengineering journal makes an effort to encourage a younger generation of scientists and engineers. The journal offers them their first publication opportunity and gives them their first experience in writing a scientific paper. It is the aim of this journal to bring together in one publication outstanding papers reporting new and original work in the following areas: (1) applications of solid-state physics and technology to electronics and optoelectronics, including theory and device design; (2) optical, electrical, morphological characterization techniques and parameter extraction of devices; (3) fabrication of semiconductor devices, and also device-related materials growth, measurement and evaluation; (4) the physics and modeling of submicron and nanoscale microelectronic and optoelectronic devices, including processing, measurement, and performance evaluation; (5) applications of numerical methods to the modeling and simulation of solid-state devices and processes; and (6) nanoscale electronic and optoelectronic devices, photovoltaics, sensors, and MEMS based on semiconductor and alternative electronic materials; (7) synthesis and electrooptical properties of materials for novel devices.

However, given the wide availability of industrial simulators (Atlas, MEDICI etc), device simulation papers should be coupled with experiment or novel analytical approaches. Also, materials growth and characterization papers should be relevant to a current or future device technology.

Areas of application may include statistical methods for drug discovery, including papers that address issues of multiplicity, sequential trials, adaptive designs, etc.; preclinical and clinical studies; genomics and proteomics; bioassay; biomarkers and surrogate markers; models and analyses of drug history, including pharmacoeconomics, product life cycle, detection of adverse events in clinical studies, and postmarketing risk assessment; regulatory guidelines, including issues of standardization of terminology (e.g., CDISC), tolerance and specification limits related to pharmaceutical practice, and novel methods of drug approval; and detection of adverse events in clinical and toxicological studies. Tutorial articles also are welcome. Articles should include demonstrable evidence of the usefulness of this methodology (presumably by means of an application).

Since 1959, the methods presented in the journal have reflected changes in the discipline.In recent years, some of these changes have been associated with improved computer technology and availability, resulting in highly flexible and computer-intensive approaches to scientific data analysis. (See for example the lead article in the August 1998 issue by Richard A. Becker, Linda A. Clark, and Diane Lambert entitled "Events Defined By Duration and Severity, with an Application to Network Reliability," with discussion by Jeff Robinson and Josef Schmee.) With the emergence of massive computing and data storage capabilities, statistical approaches to screening, flexible modeling, pattern characterization, and change detection that were infeasible 20 years ago are now viable. There have also been shifts in basic attitudes about data analysis (e.g., less formal hypothesis testing, more fitted models via graphical analysis), and in how some of our important application areas are managed (e.g., quality assurance through robust design rather than detailed inspection).Many of the problems in industry today concern the analysis of huge data sets that lead to improved quality or better understanding of the manufacturing or development process. The journal reports basic, comparative and clinical immunology as they pertain to the animal species designated here: livestock, poultry, and fish species that are major food animals and companion animals such as cats, dogs, horses and camels, and wildlife species that act as reservoirs for food, companion or human infectious diseases, or as models for human disease.Rodent models of infectious diseases that are of importance in the animal species indicated above,when the disease requires a level of containment that is not readily available for larger animal experimentation (ABSL3), will be considered. Papers on rabbits, lizards, guinea pigs, badgers, armadillos, elephants, antelope, and buffalo will be reviewed if the research advances our fundamental understanding of immunology, or if they act as a reservoir of infectious disease for the primary animal species designated above, or for humans. Manuscripts employing other species will be reviewed if justified as fitting into the categories above.The following topics are appropriate: biology of cells and mechanisms of the immune system, immunochemistry, immunodeficiencies, immunodiagnosis, immunogenetics, immunopathology, immunology of infectious disease and tumors, immunoprophylaxis including vaccine development and delivery, immunological aspects of pregnancy including passive immunity, autoimmuity, neuroimmunology, and transplanatation immunology. The analysis and improvement of performance in complex systems, the adaptation of plants to new demands or conditions, and the design of 'optimal' systems are a few of the challenges confronting engineers and systems scientists today. In many cases solutions to problems in areas such as these may be found through the use of appropriate mathematical models. The dynamic case, whether continuous time, discrete time of discrete-event, deterministic or stochastic, presents special challenges, and derivation of an appropriate solution depends strongly on the proper initial formulation of the goals and constraints. Increasingly this demands an interdisciplinary approach to modelling. Models can take the form of sets of equations, graphs or nets, or some combination of elements such as these. The derivation, combination, simplification and validation of models and sub-models are the main topics of Mathematical and Computer Modelling of Dynamical Systems, which provides an international forum for the presentation of new ideas in modelling and for the exchange of experience and knowledge through descriptions of specific applications.
