Chemistry and Ecology publishes original papers, short communications and occasional review articles on the relationship between chemistry and ecological processes. Europe-Asia Studies is the principal academic journal in the world focusing on the history and current political, social and economic affairs of the countries of the former 'communist bloc' of the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Asia. At the same time, the journal explores the economic, political and social transformation of these countries and the changing character of their relationships with the rest of Europe and Asia. From its first publication in 1949, until January 1993, the title of Europe-Asia Studies was Soviet Studies. The Editors' decision to change the title to Europe-Asia Studies followed the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991. It reflected the belief that countries of the former 'Soviet bloc' would gradually become more closely linked with both Europe and Asia, while continuing to present distinctive topics for research as a consequence of their specific experience. In 2007 the Editors took a further decision to extend the journal's scope to include China and other Asian countries that are or were under communist rule. 'Evolving Systems' covers surveys, methodological, and application-oriented papers in the emerging area of evolving systems. Evolving systems are inspired by the idea of system model evolution in a dynamically changing and evolving environment. They use inheritance and gradual change with the aim of life-long learning and adaptation, self-organization including system structure evolution in order to adapt to the (unknown and unpredictable) environment as structures for information representation with the ability to fully adapt their structure and adjust their parameters. 'Evolving Systems' solicits publications that address the problems of modelling, control, prediction, classification and data processing in non-stationary, unpredictable environments and describe new methods and approaches for design of systems able to fully adapt its structure rather than adjust its parameters based on a pre-trained and fixed structure. The journal is devoted to the topic of self-developing, self-organised, and evolving systems in its entirety - from systematic methods to case studies and real industrial applications. It covers all aspects of the methodology such as conventional systems, neuro-fuzzy systems, evolutionary systems, Bayesian systems, machine learning methods, clustering, and classification, but also looking at new paradigms and applications, including medicine, robotics, business, industrial automation, control systems, transportation, communications, environmental monitoring, biomedical systems, security, and electronic services. Food Additives & Contaminants: Part B publishes surveillance data indicating the presence and levels of occurrence of designated food additives, residues and contaminants in foods and animal feed. Data using validated methods must meet stipulated quality standards to be acceptable and must be presented in a prescribed format for subsequent data-handling. Food Additives & Contaminants: Part B has a restricted scope in terms of classes of food additives, residues and contaminants that are included, being based on a goal of covering those areas where there is a need to record surveillance data for the purposes of exposure and risk assessment. The scope is initially restricted to: 1. Additives - food colours, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives; 2. Residues - veterinary drug and pesticide residues; 3. Contaminants - metals, mycotoxins, phycotoxins, plant toxins, nitrate/nitrite, PCDDs/PCFDs, PCBs, PAHs, acrylamide, 3-MPCD and contaminants derived from food packaging. Papers reporting surveillance data in areas other than the above should be submitted to Part A. The scope of Part B will be expanded from time-to-time to ensure inclusion of new areas of concern. History and Anthropology continues to address the intersection of history and social sciences, focusing on the interchange between anthropologically-informed history, historically-informed anthropology and the history of ethnographic and anthropological representation. It is now widely perceived that the formerly dominant ahistorical perspectives within anthropology severely restricted interpretation and analysis. Much recent work has therefore been concerned with social change and colonial history and the traditional problems such as symbolism, have been rethought in historical terms. History and Anthropology publishes articles which develop these concerns, and is particularly interested in linking new substantive analyses with critical perspectives on anthropological discourse. The journal publishes studies of: economic, religious and linguistic change; European and non-European colonial systems; transformations of art and material culture; gender in history and culture; encounters with and images of 'others'; the influences of anthropological representations upon indigenous consciousness and culture; the various contributions of anthropology to colonial practice; and the development of ethnological and anthropological ideals and investigative techniques. The editor therefore welcomes regional and thematic studies oriented towards wider analytic or critical issues. Because the scope of clinical lipidology is broad, the topics addressed by the Journal are equally diverse. Typical articles explore lipidology as it is practiced in the treatment setting, recent developments in pharmacological research, reports of treatment and trials, case studies, the impact of lifestyle modification, and similar academic material of interest to the practitioner. While preference is given to material of immediate practical concern, the science that underpins lipidology is forwarded by expert contributors so that evidence-based approaches to reducing cardiovascular and coronary heart disease can be made immediately available to our readers. Sections of the Journal will address pioneering studies and the clinicians who conduct them, case studies, ethical standards and conduct, professional guidance such as ATP and NCEP, editorial commentary, letters from readers, http://www.lipid.org/National Lipid Association (NLA) news and upcoming event information, as well as abstracts from the NLA annual scientific sessions and the scientific forums held by its chapters, when appropriate.

The Journal of Development Economics publishes original research papers relating to all aspects of economic development - from immediate policy concerns to structural problems of underdevelopment. The emphasis is on quantitative or analytical work, which is novel and relevant. The Journal does not publish book reviews. We welcome papers that take up questions in development economics that are of interest to the general readers of the journal, and then use data from a particular country or region to answer them. However, we do not publish articles that are essentially in-depth studies of a specific country, region, case, or event whose findings are unlikely to be of great interest to the general readers of the journal. In our review process we pre-screen all papers, some of which are immediately rejected. This includes papers that are not considered to be a good fit in terms of the topic or the methodology even though development is a broad field and sometimes this is a matter of subjective judgment. This also includes papers that fall short of our high standards, in terms of the contribution or value added to the literature, or in terms of methodological rigor. Under normal circumstances, an author cannot submit (either s/he directly or through a co-author) more than three papers within any 12 month period. Papers that are once rejected by the JDE will not be considered for publication again, even if the authors use a new dataset or a new model.
