It provides an international forum for the publication of high quality papers on the subject of rock mechanics and the application of rock mechanics principles and techniques to mining and civil engineering projects built on or in rock masses. These projects include slopes, open-pit mines, quarries, shafts, tunnels, caverns, underground mines, metro systems, dams and hydro-electric stations, geothermal energy, petroleum engineering, and radioactive waste disposal. Aim The Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers (JCIE) is devoted to publishing articles in all aspects of engineering and related fields in applied sciences, ranging from fundamental principles to practical applications. Peer Review Process As soon as the Editorial Office receives a submitted manuscript, the Editorial office will forward the manuscript to an appropriate Subject Editor based on the paper content and initiate the review process. The Subject Editor examines the submitted paper to determine whether it falls within the scope of JCIE. If it does, the Subject Editor selects a panel of referees to perform the paper's review. Referees are normally asked to respond within four weeks. If they are late, reminders are sent. If the Subject Editor does not receive a timely response from the referee, the manuscript is then sent to an alternative referee. The Subject Editor then evaluates reviews when they come in. If a review is deemed lacking in critical quality (i.e. the technical and scientific strengths or shortcomings of the work have not been adequately addressed), then an additional review is sought. Copies of the reviews (at least two) are referred to the Subject Editor who examines all materials and decides on a course of action. The decision is also checked by the Executive Editor and is then conveyed to the author by the Editorial Office. Transplant Infectious Disease has been established as a forum for presenting the most current information on the prevention and treatment of infection complicating organ and bone marrow transplantation. The point of view of the journal is that infection and allograft rejection (or graft-versus-host disease) are closely intertwined, and that advances in one area will have immediate consequences on the other. The interaction of the transplant recipient with potential microbial invaders, the impact of immunosuppressive strategies on this interaction, and the effects of cytokines, growth factors, and chemokines liberated during the course of infections, rejection, or graft-versus-host disease are central to the interests and mission of this journal. Transplant Infectious Disease is aimed at disseminating the latest information relevant to the infectious disease complications of transplantation to clinicians and scientists involved in bone marrow, kidney, liver, heart, lung, intestinal, and pancreatic transplantation. The infectious disease consequences and concerns regarding innovative transplant strategies, from novel immunosuppressive agents to xenotransplantation, are very much a concern of this journal. In addition, this journal feels a particular responsibility to inform primary care practitioners in the community, who increasingly are sharing the responsibility for the care of these patients, of the special considerations regarding the prevention and treatment of infection in transplant recipients. Discourse Processes is a multidisciplinary journal providing a forum for cross-fertilization of ideas from diverse disciplines sharing a common interest in discourse--prose comprehension and recall, dialogue analysis, text grammar construction, computer simulation of natural language, cross-cultural comparisons of communicative competence, or related topics. The problems posed by multisentence contexts and the methods required to investigate them, although not always unique to discourse, are sufficiently distinct so as to require an organized mode of scientific interaction made possible through the journal. The journal accepts original experimental or theoretical papers that substantially advance understanding of the structure and function of discourse. Scholars working in the discourse area from the perspective of sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse psychology, text linguistics, ethnomethodology and sociology of language, education, philosophy of language, computer science, and related subareas are invited to contribute. New ways of studying discourse processes in their full complexity can require new ways of presenting data and analyses. Early Modern French Studies (formerly Seventeenth-Century French Studies) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed, original articles in English and French on a broad range of literary, cultural, methodological, and theoretical topics relating to the study of early modern France. The journal has expanded its historical scope and now covers work on the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries. Within this period of French literary and cultural history, the journal particularly welcomes work that will relate to the term 'early modern', as well as work that will interrogate it. It will continue to publish special issues devoted to particular topics (such as the highly successful 2014 special issue on the cultural history of fans) as well as individual submissions.

EMFS brings to its readership the work of both established figures and young researchers, and has historically provided a unique forum for the strong UK tradition of scholarship in the field. The journal is the official publication of the Society for Seventeenth-Century French Studies and was first published in 1979. Electoral Studies is an international journal covering all aspects of voting, the central act in the democratic process. Political scientists, economists, sociologists, game theorists, geographers, contemporary historians and lawyers have common, and overlapping, interests in what causes voters to act as they do, and the consequences. Electoral Studies provides a forum for these diverse approaches. Biological Psychology publishes original scientific papers on neural, endocrine, immune, and other physiological aspects of psychological states and processes. Such aspects include assessments by biochemistry, electrophysiology, and neuroimaging during psychological experiments as well as biologically induced changes in psychological function. Psychological investigations based on biological theories are also of interest. All aspects of psychological functioning, including psychopathology, are germane.

The Journal is focused on work with human individuals, but may consider work with animals, if conceptually related to issues in human biological psychology. The Journal welcomes work that spans disciplines and methods and recruits an editorial team that is especially suited for handling such manuscripts. Empirical reports are the core of the Journal, but methodological and theoretical reports relevant to biological psychology are encouraged (see list of article types for more information). Theoretical and computational treatments of biomacromolecular systems, macromolecular interactions, regulatory control and systems biology are also of interest to the journal.The journal publishes regular articles, letters and invited reviews. Manuscripts that fall outside the scopes and interests of the journal are returned to the Authors without in-depth review. Relevant manuscripts are reviewed expeditiously with decisions generally made within 3 weeks from receipt. Letters are short articles (6 printed pages maximum) reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. Decisions on Letters are made within 1-2 weeks from receipt and publication is offered only to manuscripts requiring minor revision. Case Studies in Thermal Engineering provides a forum for the rapid publication of short, structured Case Studies in Thermal Engineering and related Short Communications. It provides an essential compendium of case studies for researchers and practitioners in the field of thermal engineering and others who are interested in aspects of thermal engineering cases that could affect other engineering processes. The journal not only publishes new and novel case studies, but also provides a forum for the publication of high quality descriptions of classic thermal engineering problems. The scope of the journal includes case studies of thermal engineering problems in components, devices and systems using existing experimental and numerical techniques in the areas of mechanical, aerospace, chemical, medical, thermal management for electronics, heat exchangers, regeneration, solar thermal energy, thermal storage, building energy conservation, and power generation. Case studies of thermal problems in other areas will also be considered.Fundamental thermal science and engineering studies are generally not included in the scope of the journal.Manuscript length should not exceed five journal pages.Case Studies in Thermal Engineering is an open access journal.
