Pragmatics & Cognition is an interdisciplinary journal seeking to bring together such disciplines as philosophy, linguistics, semiotics, cognitive science, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, ethology, and cognitive anthropology, among others. The journal seeks to explore relations of all sorts between semiotic systems as used by humans, animals and machines, in connection with mental activities: logical and causal dependence; condition of acquisition, development of loss; modeling, simulation of formalization, shared or separate biological and neurological bases; social and cultural variation; aesthetic expression; historical development; etc. Pragmatics & Cognition's basic assumption is that the proper understanding of mental life and inter-personal relations requires an intensive and thoughtful exchange of views across disciplines.

Prion is the first international peer-reviewed journal to focus exclusively on protein folding and misfolding, protein assembly disorders, protein-based and structural inheritance. The goal is to foster communication and rapid exchange of information through timely publication of important results using traditional as well as electronic formats. The overriding criteria for publication in Prion are originality, scientific merit and general interest.Prion is a quarterly publication. Accepted manuscripts will be made available on the website immediately.

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology & Biological Psychiatry does not publish work on the actions of biological extracts unless the pharmacological active molecular substrate and/or specific receptor binding properties of the extract compounds are elucidated.

The Neuroimaging section of Psychiatry Research publishes manuscripts on positron emission tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, computerized electroencephalographic topography, regional cerebral blood flow, computed tomography, magnetoencephalography, autoradiography, post-mortem regional analyses, and other imaging techniques. Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences is published bimonthly by the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology as its official journal. The journal publishespapers in all fields of psychiatry and related neurosciences in the following categories: Review Articles, Regular Articles, Short Communications and Letters to the Editor. This journal presents a forum for the publication of papers in the rapidly growing area of Purinergic Signalling (through purines and pyrimidines), with its exceptionally wide spectrum of signalling functions in health and disease. Coverage includes original articles, reviews, hot topics and controversies, and meeting reports. There is both short-term purinergic signalling in transmission and secretion and long-term (trophic) signalling in controlling cell proliferation, differentiation, motility and death in development and regeneration and there is increasing interest in the roles of purines and pyrimidines in pathophysiological conditions and their therapeutic potential in disease. RSC Chemical Biology is a gold open access journal dedicated to publishing and disseminating exceptional, breakthrough research and high-quality reviews at the interface of chemistry and biology. We welcome contributions from across the breadth of the chemical biology field. Regulatory Peptides provides a scientific medium for reviews, viewpoints, research articles and correspondence (in the form of Letters to the Editor) on the physiology/pathophysiology of peptides and proteins of the gut and endocrine- and nervous systems which regulate cell, tissue or organ function. Articles may be based on either basic or clinical science observations obtained in any of the fields of biochemistry, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, neuroscience, psychology and clinical medicine. Articles should strive to provide mechanistic explanations rather than merely be observational reports. Communications on comparative physiology research will be considered if novel mechanistic or translational aspects are included.Note: Reviews and Viewpoints may be submitted by invitation only, but authors may send proposals to the Editor-in-Chief for consideration.

Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology publishes original articles and invited reviews concerning physiology and pathophysiology of respiration in its broadest sense. Although a special focus is on topics in neurobiology, high quality papers in respiratory molecular and cellular biology are also welcome, as are high-quality papers in traditional areas, such as mechanics of breathing; gas exchange and acid-base balance; respiration at rest and exercise; respiration in unusual conditions, like high or low pressure or changes of temperature, low ambient oxygen; embryonic and adult respiration; comparative respiratory physiology. This interdisciplinary journal publishes papers relating the plasticity and response of the nervous system to accidental or experimental injuries and their interventions, transplantation, neurodegenerative disorders and experimental strategies to improve regeneration or functional recovery and rehabilitation. Experimental and clinical research papers adopting fresh conceptual approaches are encouraged. The overriding criteria for publication are novelty, significant experimental or clinical relevance and interest to a multidisciplinary audience. Experiments on un-anesthetized animals should conform with the standards for the use of laboratory animals as established by the Institute of Laboratory Animal Resources, US National Academy of Sciences. Experiments in which paralytic agents are used must be justified. Patient identity should be concealed. All manuscripts are sent out for blind peer review to editorial board members or outside reviewers.
